On paper both Shields and Wilcox were good appointments, but we never seem to be able to keep them longer than a few months. I guess it's because the good appointments see the reality once they've settled in and bail asap? I still firmly believe Wilcox was destined for United, but used Saints as a middle stop so he didn’t go from one part of the city to the other. I don’t think it’s SR, but the recruitment around football data/scouting is pretty ruthless and fast moving. If you do a decent job, then one of the bigger clubs will be making moves quickly.

Osvaldorama Posted January 18 Posted January 18 The mad part is this seems to be a radical change in philosophy for the entire club again. I thought they were wedded to possession? Now they’re going back to high press? SR’s leadership is hilariously shite. I just hope this new guy is good, does things his way and tells the rest of them all to fuck off 3

They gave Wilcox free rein and he bought possession style with him, hiring Martin. Makes buying players a pain in the arse though. 2
trousers Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Does this mean we're going to be signing the Argentinian rising star Agaricus Bisporus any time soon?

Everything they do has no coherent strategy behind it. Embarrassing for Dragan tbh. Id hate to have wasted so much money on this absolute circus 🎪 2
Saint Fan CaM Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Not joining until February I believe but I wonder if he’s already involved with Juric in sorting out players and their contracts in this window and ready for a big shift in the summer? Wouldn’t be the first time a DoF has started ‘early’.

I know and I did not say they were identical roles. Clubs use these roles in different ways and there is some variation and crossovers in duties.

east-stand-nic Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Does anyone really think there would have been any issue of Liverpool or Man Utd wanted him? 1

Really? Given your penchant for a conspiracy theory it was a valid question. I’ll ask it again. Do you believe that there is a different system in place for the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United to sign club executives from abroad than there is for Southampton FC? As for your new mate, I wonder what his boss would think about him spending more time stalking a complete stranger on an internet football forum along with posting random pictures of horses and Austin Allegros than on his actual job? Yes, you clearly derailed the thread again by not contributing, just saying silly things with laughing emoji's. Now you know you did, you are a bit embarrassed and now are asking questions of my post which you should have done in the first place and you know it full well. Everyone knows the rules are bent more for bigger clubs. So where is the conspiracy theory? Stop derailing thread and calling names etc., and start contributing. 1 1

As for your new mate, I wonder what his boss would think about him spending more time stalking a complete stranger on an internet football forum along with posting random pictures of horses and Austin Allegros than on his actual job? my boss doesn't give a fuck what i do because I deliver what the company needs. It's not like your day when the pools of typists you managed would be chained to a desk only allowed to leave if they asked for your permission to go for a piss or when it was their scheduled coffee break LOL. An outdated view of the workplace much like you have an outdated view of the world. As for you SOG, you've got to stop blaming everything else for your internal reactions. You've also got to overcome this incredible arrogance you have that all 8 billion people in the world should see everything the way you do. These two things i believe are why you are a deeply unhappy person with a string of failed relationships, a work skill set that is now outdated and left in the 80s. It's also why you are spending your life trying to convince people on internet forums you're a really good guy. Change the first two things on this paragraph and you will change your life. Perhaps then your dog wont be your only friend. 1
