Lighthouse Posted Sunday at 18:21 Posted Sunday at 18:21 Midweek trip to Old Trafford about a month after Christmas, I can’t see how this can end badly. 1

They combined very well today, with 3 goals and 2 assists between them, and were a much more potent attacking threat than Archer and Armstrong. There's nothing to lose, so it's worth a try and might just give us a much better 2nd half to the season. 3
macca155 Posted Sunday at 20:41 Posted Sunday at 20:41 Normally I need a couple of weeks recovery time in a dark room before watching Saints again. Just might be able to face this one now. Let's hope it's a more Fulham like performance rather than the Bournemouth disaster. Utd will consider themselves rock bottom if they fail to beat Saints. They'll be quite hyper to start with. 1
LiberalCommunist Posted Sunday at 20:43 Posted Sunday at 20:43 Small steps in the right direction. We got this. 1
trousers Posted Sunday at 20:45 Posted Sunday at 20:45 Since when did Premier League matches take place on a Thursday? 4
Pamplemousse Posted Sunday at 20:46 Posted Sunday at 20:46 United to get all complacent after two good performances away against Liverpool and Arsenal. Man United 0-6 Southampton, and the limbs in the away end will be unbelievable. 1

Archer for me is the least awful forward option, with Dibling and Fernandes behind. 7
die Mannyschaft Posted Sunday at 22:55 Posted Sunday at 22:55 Typically Moan U have been playing better and Saints still reverting to risky passing back nonsense this will be a defeat, likely large one. Better today but it's too Kate to change the the automatic back, stop and side ways when players doing it for months as second nature. Burnley winnable so concentrate on that.

There will always be players that just look for the simple backwards pass. Usually ones that are more limited technically. I.e Bree and Smallbone. 1
Sarnia Cherie Posted Monday at 07:58 Posted Monday at 07:58 Having watched the Arsenal v Man U game yesterday, we haven't a hope in hell. Amorin may not have his dream team yet but their defence was rock solid and with our woeful strikers I can't see anything but another defeat. 1
coalman Posted Monday at 09:43 Posted Monday at 09:43 Man utd have turned the corner under Amorim which is always the best time to play them. There's no way they're having another embarrassing home defeat. So 2-1 Saints. Or a new record for suspect refereeing decisions. 1
VectisSaint Posted Monday at 10:09 Posted Monday at 10:09 Hopefully Dibling will have a better game. If we can adequately replace Manning, Bree and Aribo (the weak links yesterday), and Bednarek is fit, think we could give Man U a decent game. At times yesterday we looked very good going forward, albeit with all the caveats that we were playing against an average Championship team playing a much weakened team. Maybe we will see Welington bombing down the left :-)
benjii Posted Monday at 10:54 Posted Monday at 10:54 Need to get behind the ball and try to get them on the break. #tacticsmasterclass
benjii Posted Monday at 11:14 Posted Monday at 11:14 In all seriousness, their recent uptick has been based on digging in against top opposition. As long as we sit tight, they might start to get frustrated. Unfortunately, we are so shite at set piece defending they'll probably score from a corner or free kick anyway.

Dman Posted Monday at 11:22 Posted Monday at 11:22 They looked absolutely spent towards the end of the Arsenal game. Probably the best chance of going to united and getting something we'll have in a very long time. The same formation as played yesterday, which imo, is the one that is best suited to our squad. 2 quick runners up top playing on the shoulder, with Fernandes behind them in the 10. Toss up between Suluemana, Archer & dibbling imo, although I think that role would also suit AA and dare I say it BBD. Ramsdale KWP Bree or Charlie Taylor? Bednerak THB Manning Les Downes (if fit) Fernandes Archer Sulemana
Morse Posted Monday at 12:54 Posted Monday at 12:54 Tough one to call this. Anything could happen, we could lose 4-0 or it might be 6 or 7-0.
Midfield_General Posted Monday at 13:11 Posted Monday at 13:11 Looking forward to watching the re-born Sulemana tear them a new one, which apparently he will now he's had one half-decent game in two years against a load of shite 1 1
Baird of the land Posted Monday at 13:12 Posted Monday at 13:12 Guess it'll be the same starting lineup as sunday. From what i saw yesterday utd threat seemed to be on the break. Curious how they do in a game where they need to take the initiative. Hopefully we can frustrate them and somehow keep it close.

goodymatt Posted Monday at 15:16 Posted Monday at 15:16 Local game for me this one (19 miles from home). I’ll be watching in the home end with my mate on his season tickets. Become a bit of a tradition to sit together for our games but frustratingly a midweek fixture, which spoils the drinking element. Could be a long evening, given the current form of both sides. Hoping I need to sit on my hands but not expecting that to be an issue. I’m going 3-1 United. Dibling to score for us against a potential future employer. Also off to Forest on Sunday, I’m a sucker for punishment this week! Up the Saints 😇 2
Doctoroncall Posted Monday at 16:00 Posted Monday at 16:00 Hoping for a draw, actually, couldn’t care less about the result, it’s got that bad.
Harry_SFC Posted Monday at 16:10 Posted Monday at 16:10 Ramsdale, KWP, Bree, Bednarek, THB, Manning, Downes, Les, Fernandes, Dibling, Archer/Sulemena.
OneMrsWallace Posted Monday at 17:38 Posted Monday at 17:38 One of many reasons I hate where we are as a club is always thinking we'll lose, so just to cheer myself up a 1-0 win for Saints. Yup, that cheered me up. Now back to reality, 3-1 win to a bang average Man Utd.
saintant Posted Monday at 17:56 Posted Monday at 17:56 Result not that important but would like to see a performance to show we are moving in the right direction. 3

Hope we can upgrade Aribo, Manning and possibly Bree, at least. If Downes is fit that's Aribo sorted. Sugawara for all his faults is a better option than Bree going forward, and maybe Bomber could replace Manning.
Saint Gifford Posted Monday at 22:36 Posted Monday at 22:36 Never know. Utd turn up for the big games as per the last couple, probably think this is in the bag before kicking a ball. IJ is trying his best to polish a turd from what I can see. Come away with a draw, will help move on some players and make us a potentially good club for other players to come to next season. It does help playing for a manager that isn’t from the youth team, League 1,2 Championship. If he stays of course.
HKsaint Posted Monday at 23:51 Posted Monday at 23:51 Sulemana must be the first choice so long as the transfer window is still open. 2

Thinking back to the 0-3 home defeat we really did have the better of it up until Archer's penalty miss , then it fell apart. We had sold out the 2,424 allocation, looks like 30 have gone back on sale for anyone still wanting a ticket.

For the most part, but I've noticed a few times with him recently that he has an awful tendency when in an advanced position to play a short pass under no pressure to absolutely no-one, and give it away very cheaply. Saw it numerous times against Brentford and Swansea. 1
Saint86 Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Time to put a bet on us getting pumped, and to transfer in loads of United players and captain Bruno / Hojland / Onana etc etc., (basically anyone you think might get goals/assists/clean sheet points) - Do your part for the team saints fans, its the only way we sneak out of there with a 1-0 smash and grab win.
