whelk Posted January 16 Posted January 16 We get referred to as ‘bottom club Southampton’ more that ‘Frank Lampard’s Derby’

BotleySaint Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Utd clearly under estimated us in the first half and probably thought it'd be an easy game. They won't make the same mistake second half. But it has been great to watch us play some proper football for a change. 4
Teamsaint1 Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Been first to so many 50/50 balls, which helps make up for all the small bad decisions from the ref. Do United sit right back against everybody, or do they just think they can pick us off on the break? 1
die Mannyschaft Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Bloody he'll, on radio sounds like Saints are bossing the game. Typical that useless keeper making saves for United. Can we keep it up 2nd half plus added. 1

bugenhagen Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Heard the travelling support singing loud and clear on the telly: "we scored a goal" "we scored a goal" "we scored a goal" "we scored a goal" 1

Need to take advantage of them pushing forward more by getting balls in behind quicker, advantage of them committing to challenges more by flicking the ball away to draw the foul.

United have the quality to turn this around so that’s not a bad shout but we’ve shown we can play well for 45 mins, just need to do it again. The yellow cards worry me though, Juric needs to make good subs.

SaintsBarry74 Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Hard to believe, but we've been by far the better team here. FU Martin!! 1

Nordic Saint Posted January 16 Posted January 16 I wouldn't get too carried away. This first half team might win, but the team after our subs come on is unlikely to. We'll end up with the likes of Smallbone, Armstrong and Archer looking lost as Man United players run by them. 1
SNSUN Posted January 16 Posted January 16 I’d take a loss tonight if we can beat Forest next, burst their bubble. 😝
Saint NL Posted January 16 Posted January 16 (edited) Commentator on TV just showed that the corner we scored from shouldnt have been given. Did we just get some luck at Old Trafford? Edited January 16 by Saint NL
Toadhall Saint Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Just now, Chez said: probably, but at least we are in it. Don’t get me wrong we are more than in it - for the first time this season but the gods of football haven’t been with us so far.
obelisk Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Saints looking more confident and a tad fitter which they need to be with this man-to-man pressing style. Really need to make these chances count though. Probably deserved more than a one goal lead.
Saint Fan CaM Posted January 16 Posted January 16 We’re doing well but the officials are biased as usual and they’ll be trying their best to give Utd the win. 3
Jonnyboy Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Anyone got a stream? (Not the wet kind thank you Turkish)
Saint Fan CaM Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Les and Aribo look knackered - not challenging now.
CanadaSaint Posted January 16 Posted January 16 It’s pretty impressive that Juric has flushed the Martinball instincts so quickly - I thought it would take longer. But to inject that rapid player and ball movement up front is even more impressive. Long way to go but this is major progress regardless of the final score. 1
Disco Stu Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Sulemana looking much better but his finishing is so bad.

Saint_clark Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Not a penalty but it probably would be given at the other end, yeah. 1
Mr X Posted January 16 Posted January 16 We are 100% going down but this gives me confidence that we can dominate the championship if we can keep the team together and it's a big if as KWP & dibling will certainly be off and it won't be the same team!
trousers Posted January 16 Posted January 16 I think we've probably had more corners in this game than the whole of the season so far?!

Get Brooks back in to replace Dibling and Sugawara will probably find his level next season.
Harry_SFC Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Not convinced we'll be able to continue this intensity much longer.
trousers Posted January 16 Posted January 16 (edited) If Downes is fit to play (he's on the bench, so why wouldn't he be?) then he needs to come on sooner rather than later IMO. Shore things up a bit in the middle and pre-empt the inevitable tiredness of others. Edited January 16 by trousers 1
