Rudi's On His Way Out

Its a shame. How much of the fee will Wotte TF get to bring in a replacement.

WE WON'T GET A FEE.

This "transfer" is completely under the radar and therefore must be to some non-entity club or other. If we end up getting shot of him without actually paying somebody to take him off our hands we'll be lucky.

I think he's an OK player, when he wants to be, but you just can't deal with his sort of blowing hot and cold and always wanting to be off somewhere else.

Marseille found out the hard way,the one the causes intense pain about wallet high, so have we.

I suspect he had to ask for a transfer to get his release. The club wouldn't have to pay up his contract. They will then save a tidy sum.

It's probably Hertha or another German side, he was made too expensive in the summer due to the fee required plus his contract, Hertha walked away because of it.

Saves over £500k a year!

Alright player but hasn't really lived up to his fee, although hasn't really played in his favoured position.

I for one am not really bothered by him leaving but wish him all the best and hope he can find the form that made us paid £1.6m for him.

Mediocre at best, would've liked to of seen him play in a free role behind a front two, which IMO we would of seen the best of him.

For £1.6 Million I would have thought he was going to be a far better player than he turned out.

We cant have bought many defenders/midfield players for that amount when we were in the Premiership

We paid all that because Burley had a vastly overestimated opinion of the value of Scottish football.

What an utter waste of money you have been Rudi. A winger without pace or skill and we paid £1.6m for you and gave you £10000 a week wages ! How did you ever score 16 goals in the Scotish Premier League that last season you were there !?!?

We must be thankful for small mercies though and you have played well at left back this season. Saying that you have got some cheek being asked to be left out of the team when we have got so little end product from you for the sizeable outlay we made.

He has made 60 starts for Saints, approx 40 in his favoured left wing position, which I think can definitely be classed as having been given a fair chance. He did play regularly 33 times in his first season and 16 games this season, the latter of which have been much better at left back . But don`t worry as for all you Rudi lovers out there we have a ready made replacement left winger who has no pace and skill either in Lee Holmes.

good luck to rudi in the future, treated like ****, just a toy of the club and who can blame him for leaving when he knows that the management of the club is completely wrong.

i agree he can come over as uncommitted but in truth this is not because he doesn't care, just that he is too fat to run properly. even if left back wasn't his best position he did a job there and with the right guidance (e.g under someone like Pearson) I'm sure he could have been our best player this season, especially if he got himself fit which i don't think he ever was.

My, you are a ray of sunshine arent you !!

Rudi was shafted this season by the internal politics. Ok, left back wasnt his best position but he was never the worst Saints player on the pitch by a long long shot.

I think its a shame we never got to see him in his best position, which was ironically against Norwich at home last season before he was loaned out to the German club, he was superb in that match.

I also think your summary of Lee Holmes is extremely unfair. At the start of the season beofre he got injured he was IMHO our best player, he was the constant outlet for the midfield.

Flattered to deceive........the warnings were there from Hearts supporters when we signed him..........so no real surprise he's moving on...........just another of football's mercenary individuals, who will no doubt join another club and say "this is a great move for me" and spout the other usual drivel to satisfy the tabloid press........ then fade away yet again

If you call getting £10000 a week for playing 60 matches in the time he has been with us, two thirds of which he either looked like he couldn`t be bothered or simply wasn`t capable, getting shafted then I think all of us on here would willfully take a good shafting !

Lee Holmes does give balance to the left side as he is naturally left footed but my point is I don`t know how long you can expect to last as a wide man in the english game if you have neither the ability to beat a man and/or a good change of pace. And Holmes can`t cross as well as Rudi either.

TBH I only saw him play at first hand about 5 times, but each time he looked like one of only 2 or 3 players who actually gave a **** and tried their best. With variable results admittedly.

Says more about our squad than him I suppose.

Goodbye and Good luck Rudi, but any money saved is very welcome.

As Alpine said ...hounded out...

Good player wasted...

Still never mind we have Smith,Moly"who",Gillet,Gobern and the like...brilliant eh?

Hounded out by who? It was Crouch who shifted him out on loan last January after Rudi requested a move and when he returned he still wanted out of the club, however it was his high wage demands that meant his move to Ipswich fell through. It's quite simple in that he doesn't want to play for us and has not been hounded out. Agreed he is a good player and will sadly be missed.

I think some people are being very harsh to Skacel on here, to be honest he was one of our best players the year we got to the play-offs in 2007. (so near yet so far)!

That year him, Viafara, Baird and Jones were the spine of our team. Also anyone remember that 30-yarder at home last season in front of the chapel?! Against West Brom when we knew we would stuggle that season?!

I think a lot of people have taken this as an opportunity to slag him off, just like a lot of people are doing to the British goverment over the state of the economy at the mo! :p:rolleyes:

Much better at left back than he ever was anywhere else. Came as a goal scoring winger and did nothing but flop. I actually cannot think of a game where I came away thinking he ever did anything other than decent.

Did well for us at left back and fair play to him for that but other than that average at best.

Bet you anything he will do a lot better at his next club.

he hasnt been the only one to do that though just like there are many that left and did less at there next club.

Bale and Theo have only shown glimpses and crouch never really got going, BT is another and im sure there are others.

so good luck to him what ever happens. my opinion is that i am happy for him to go as I dont think we ever got the best out of him even when he was in his best position.

Same as Anders Svensson, although never played as good as we think but is still our best midfield. His goals and assists as a left midfield and his goals from open play as a left back tell you all the truth. No matter how you slag him off, if you try to have a look at our current midfields in our squad and you will know he is too good to play for us.

Very frustrating. Never fit enough for a solid 90 mins, fell over as if he was Italian, yet capable of some really good stuff if he could be bothered. A waste of talent of near Fabrician magnitude - he will probably look back at his career in 5 years time and think what he might have achieved if he could be arsed (or arguably if someone had pushed/cajoled him into giving 100%)

Skacel not as good as the hype suggested and not as good as he thinks he is... nothing he can do about the former, but there is a lot he can do about the latter.

Has he EVER played well enough to justify the fee, the wages and the hype? Not on the many occasions I have watched him he hasn't, can't remember a single MOTM performance from the man who is 'supposed' to be our most creative player.

As for Prutton, he has found his level now so bad example there.

Badly treated??? Lets see, we are paying him what, something like £6 to £9k a week?

He chose to go out on loan rather than stay and help us stay up.

He chose to stay here rather than go to Ipswich because of money.

The poor love.......

I very much doubt he is being paid £6 a week ;)
