As the title says what on earth does he bring to the table?, apart from embarrassing himself every time he gets the slightest of glances, and proceeds to do a death roll.

Set pieces are at best shit, and well maybe because the Palace result is still raw,but him and Aribo are so so  lightweight cant wait for Smallbone to join the line up burgh .

I think he needs to be supported more by stronger ball winners, to enable more space for himself to make somewhat of a better impact on our attempts at attacking.

There was some bright football towards the last 4-5 minutes of the second half but all in all disappointingly poor result IMO.

I see him as a decent enough player in the Stu Armstrong or Steven Davis role, albeit not as good as the latter. I say decent, he's West Ham or Brentford decent, not Chelsea or Arsenal decent. He has limitations and he'll have bad games.

People are really confused or drunk on Christmas alcohol if they're critising one of our few, maybe max 3, technical players in the side.

We should be grateful we get to see Fernandes and Dibling this season who have a bit of genuine technical ability, otherwise we'd only be able to watch BBD lumber forward and AA run into a corner flag.

Let’s start a thread about Tyler Dibling or Aaron Ramsdale as well. KWP as well, possibly Jan. Because along with Fernandes they are the only players we have with any clue at PL level.

THB might have an England cap but Claus was better in 2004/5 drunk than THB has been this season, let alone when he was on the rails and very good 1996-2004. Archer might do OK with less shit around him.

Stewart, Bazanu, Alex McC, Larios, Sulemana - destination glue factory please. No club is going to want them. Melted down onto a Pritt Stick at least they’ll help the season tickets go out to any mugs buying them.

He's still young and playing in a new league. Like Dibling, he won't play well every week. He's adapted a lot better than some though, that's for sure.

His set pieces have been a bit crap but since JWP, no one seems to be able to take them.

Maybe Ive miss understood fans views on technical playing ability over fragility. As i said its also frustrating when he gets the very minimal amount of contact to throw himself on the floor like hes broken something,or fuck me my shin pad needs to be replaced now bugger, yes there are more players worse than him, maybe its just the frustration we find ourselves in that lends my thoughts to think you fucking lightweight, get up get on with it ,enough is enough. No im not pissed just a fan being pissed off, that's all just my opinion that's all .

Who cares he's on our team trying to get fouls and players in trouble, we need more shithouses, we are not in a position where we can be choosy.

He's 20yrs old, playing in a new league and has been probably among the best players for us this season in a crap team.

I don’t think he’s all that. Spends more time on the floor than doing anything of note.

Guly do Prado did more than him at Premier League level.

Might be a good time for you to have a spell.  Fernandes, aged 20!  Looks like one of the most gifted young players seen in a Saints shirt. Up there with Lavia - and like Lavia has had to get to grips with the Prem in a weak, ill fated team.   He will surely progress to another Prem team and represent Portugal in the near future.

Put him in a decent side and you'd see. As it is he is always one of our better players and most times he's our MotM. If we're criticising Fernandes it speaks volumes for the rest.

I’ll go one better on that, he’ll be playing for a top six premier league team next season.

Did Guly ever score at premier league level? No? Then right off the bat you're talking nonsense.

You've acknowledged that there are worse players than him so why the hate. I would say the whole squad is worse than him and apart from Dibling he is the only player showing any urgency in his game.

Looks a quality young player in a struggling team to me

100% - was pretty sure this was going to be a topic on how at least we have Fernandes, an extremely talented young player looking like he wants to win (sometimes on his own). Palace supporting mate mentioned to me that he was very impressed with him.

This is as ridiculous as the OP.

Not at all.

To shine like he does, in such a bad team, at 20 years old.

CM is one of the more difficult positions and he makes it look easy.

He’s going to the top imo.

He won’t be playing for a top 6 side next season.

He will have a good career but I don't see a top team coming in for him yet.

The best JWP could get was WHU, FFS.

If he doesn't fancy a year in the Champ then I wouldn't be surprised if he's loaned out next season, in the hope he can play for us in the PL the following year.

Are we appealing the yellow card from yesterday ?
Annoyed at missing see him against Brentford, he is such a good  player . He’ll play for a top 6 side at some  point.

Jesus wept. How bad a judge of a player can you be? Him and KWP are probably the only players that can be relied on to turn in a 7/10 performance every week.

He is technically very accomplished, usually makes good decisions with the ball, tries to play forward and has a great engine. Has shown he can be a goal threat at times too. A very well rounded midfielder, oh and he's 20 and it's his first season in the Premier league and in a foreign country

Sorry, I meant the yellow card !! The way things are going, it’ll probably get upgraded to a red :)

He was probably bought in to be gradually introduced into the first team. As it happens, he is one of first names on team sheet due to him playing outstandingly for his age and adapting to a new country. For anyone to have a pop at him needs to give their head a wobble. There's a list as long as your arm to criticise before him. I feel sorry for him if anything that he's showing quality and giving his all every game whilst surrounded by mainly shite. He won't stay next season in championship and I wouldn't blame him

He’s not a shit player by any means, but he’s considerably better than any other midfielder we have.

But at this point that is a low bar to clear.

A week ago everyone was banging on about Onuachu like he was some world class striker because he scored near 20 goals in an inferior league last season and our strikers are poor, again it’s not a hard bar to clear, but in reality he isn’t that brilliant from what’s been on show, it’s just been slightly different to the usual dross.

So many of these players have been awful this season but people won’t admit it.

Downes has been terrible all season. KWP has been very inconsistent. Stephens has been as expected - poor. Bednarek and THB inconsistent. And then you come to some of the fringe players and signings such as the loan signings, BBD, Fraser.

Sport Republic’s recruitment has been terrible, the players have been terrible.

I'm not seeing that at all, it's plainly clear who have really been below par this year - and people aren't afraid to say as much. Pretty much most of the team.

But I just don't believe Fernandes is one of those who should be singled out or put into a 'bad recruitment' pile, he's one of the best picks we've had in some time. He won't be great every week, but he's one of the few players I enjoy watching on the ball.

That’s why I didn’t include him in the above. Him and Ramsdale have been the two best signings. Manning and Dibling I think have arguably been our most consistent performers too.

I don’t think he’s a bad signing, but I certainly don’t think he’s done an awful lot in the grand scheme of things so far. Like I say it’s a low bar for a player to be considered good or having a good season.
