Guided Missile Posted 29 December, 2024 Posted 29 December, 2024 (edited) During the 2022 summer transfer window, Nottingham Forest signed an unprecedented number of players, with reports indicating up to 30 new arrivals. In terms of player departures, Forest sold or released several players to balance the squad and comply with financial regulations. Notable departures included: Brice Samba: The goalkeeper transferred to RC Lens for a reported fee of €5 million. Tobias Figueiredo: The center-back joined Hull City on a free transfer. Lewis Grabban: The forward moved to Al-Ahli Saudi FC on a free transfer. Carl Jenkinson: The right-back signed with Newcastle Jets on a free transfer. Xande Silva: The winger transferred to Dijon FCO on a free transfer. Nuno Da Costa: The forward moved to AJ Auxerre on a free transfer. Nikolas Ioannou: The left-back joined Como 1907 on a free transfer. Additionally, several players returned to their parent clubs following loan spells, further reducing the squad size. These departures were part of a strategic overhaul to ensure the squad was competitive for the Premier League season. Forest are currently second in the Premier League. benjii Posted 29 December, 2024 Posted 29 December, 2024 But if the lesson is, "brutally cull poor players" then, yes, I agree. Not adding proper strength compared to last season in centre mid, centre back and centre forward (we're actually worse, without Che) was idiotic. 2
S-Clarke Posted 29 December, 2024 Posted 29 December, 2024 I'm not sure you can use that season as the reason they are now 2nd in the league. They were absolutley shite that year, stayed up by a whisker after spending multi millions. The following seasons were equally shit. They're just having one of those seasons where things click, they've built on a Nuno Espirito-Santo mould - very solid, hard to break down.
Appy Posted 29 December, 2024 Posted 29 December, 2024 So we need to cheat and get a points deduction to stay up?
