My son in law plays in the national league and they trained Xmas morning so for Martin to give the players the day off is beyond belief. That on it’s own should put potential employers off, before you factor in all the other bullshit that comes with him.

Clearly it’s going to take Ivan a few weeks to get this lot battle hardened and fully premier league fit, but let’s see some aggression and positivity today. Hopefully we can pinch a result.

Not expecting any Christmas miracles today. It will take the new guy a few weeks (which we don't have) to get the players proper match fit for his brand of football.

I am at least encouraged enough by our efforts in the last game that i will watch this afternoon to see what differences there are. Think Wet Spam will be too strong for us unfortunately.

So reading comments, if I understand correctly, he gave the players 2 days off after a game?

So basically, he'd have to remind the players of fuckups when they rolled in 2 days later by which point they've completely fucking forgotton, and repeat the exact same errors the very next game.

So a game on sunday, meant the players would return on Wednesday...then 2 days later a game on Saturday?

I must have that completely wrong because that is batshit to me.

Think it’s too early in his tenure for a win or even a goal but I think we will show more positive intent than in the Fulham game and have 4 shots with 2 of those on target.   In the continuous absence of Stewart(lets hope he’s back for pre-season), am hoping to see Armstrong up front and on his own with no one near him providing support

I think it was just Sundays and Mondays off regardless of when the games were. 

(Before anyone points it out, yes i'm aware games are sometimes played on those days so they obviously wouldn't be days off then).

Interested to see how the central midfield is set up. Martin always had a weird shape in midfield and we frequently got caught with all midfielders the wrong side of the ball.

To be fair he played and scored against Liverpool when he was ill and has been in training since. Armstrong has to justify his place today.

As good a team as we could put out I guess, although I’d have gone for Archer over Armstrong, much better finisher. Glad Dibbing been taken out for a bit he’s not looked as good last few games but still decent off the bench

I see a young player having been used in every game over the Christmas period and needing a break. 

But honestly...if we can sell him in January for 10-15million more than we'll get in the summer I'd probably take it. He won't sign a new contract so we know he's going, we could get enough to fund two players that make a real difference second half of the season.
