ApprenticeBillionaire
He looks like a proper manager. Everything that Jones/Martin isn't. Concern is, he's giving all the soundbites that Pellegrino gave and look what we ended up with almost the exact opposite of the words coming out of his mouth. That said, he CANNOT do any worse than Martin on 5 points from 16 games ffs. Those players need proper coaching and fitness levels need drastic improvement. Juric looks to me like someone who will be their manager and not their mate, which was Martin's biggest downfall. At this level, you can't act like their your mates in for a kickabout. Our squad is piss-fucking-poor theires no doubt about that, but it's better than 5pts/16 that's for sure. I would've liked Moyes, but after the job he did at West Ham his stock is high and to come here in the situation we're in, he would have wanted MEGA money. Welcome Ivan.
HarvSFC
It's going to be harder to criticise the club for trying to emulate Atalanta's philosophy. A club traditionally associated with lower mid-table Serie A with the occasional Serie B season who for a number of years now have disrupted the status quo in Italy, winning a Europa League, getting Champions League football and currently sitting top. They also play exciting, pressing football whenever I've seen Atalanta on TV. Rather, than Manchester City's, a side funded by a state, the richest club in the world who can go out and sign any player they want to fit their system. Now lets raid Atalanta for their behind the scenes staff, their version of Shields/Wilcox. 😉

Convict Colony
Honestly if you have 10mins watch that video its really well explained and help fans understand what we will be doing, both defensively (which is pretty cool) and offensively, love the committment to man marking and quick transitions. Am super excited what juric could do with us, i expect sulemana to our lookman in this system as well and think we might see the best of him and because we will be man marking rather than pressing Tall paul might have the endurance for it as the focal point. gio1saints
The style that Juric wants us to play demands intelligence, technical skill AND super fitness. Im pretty certain the team are technically capable - enough - although I don’t think we are as fit as I’ve ever seen Saints teams and wonder if we got the puff for 90 minutes of hard pressing. They won’t get that extra sharpness and fitness this week ~ so supporters ought to be aware that he and players will need extra support from us last twenty minutes of matches in particular. We will go out fast v West Ham but if it’s still tight at the end that’s when our supporters can really make a difference. And if West Ham score first even more so. Got a feeling the crowds going to be lively and the atmosphere electric Boxibg Day!

Unfortunately it's going to take time to get this side fit, something we don't really have at the moment. He may have to implement things slower than everyone would ideally like. JustinR
From the Guardian 2 years ago, talking about his Torino side. Loving the potential for sh*thousery The broad strokes of Juric’s gameplan were nothing new. Like his mentor, Gasperini, he frequently pairs players up one-on-one with opponents all over the pitch and trusts them to engage in individual duels. Where the approach sometimes differs is in the sheer levels of aggression. Juric encourages his forwards to attack the ball-carrier at almost every opportunity. That approach can make for messy matches. Torino commit more fouls than any other team in Serie A, and it’s not close: averaging 17.6 per game compared with just 14.5 for the second-most prolific offenders, Verona – the team who Juric coached for the preceding two seasons. Yet Torino sit middle of the pack when it comes to yellow cards, with 11 other teams collecting more. Their fouling is not reckless but often tactical, premised on the idea that it is better to give away an innocuous free-kick deep in opposition territory than to let a move get started. Such infringements are also far less likely to draw bookings. And the longer that a team stay trapped in their own half, the more likely that they become impatient and flustered. As the above piece from ultimouomo.com also observed, Torino give up fewer passes per loss of possession to opponents than any other team in the league.

gio1saints
FWIW Roma are my second team and I have many Roma supporting cousins and friends. The first reaction from them was “ oh dear” after what happened at Roma - but I see it differently. We are more Verona and Torino than Roma end of the table -as Juric put it at the press thing. I think Roma and its supporters - and the squad - were still reeling from losing the idolised De Rossi but who could not get a tune out of his team. Juric came in and it seems some of the players got a rude awakening. High profile players were dropped and results did not improve fast enough so they pulled the plug. Many going on about seeing Sulemana but I Would not be surprised, certainly in short term, to see the work rate of Fraser back on the pitch - which, sadly reminds us that Juric can only cut the suit according to his cloth. And ours is pretty thin. BBD , an injured striker who has hardly played, invisible Wesley and frankly our main ( and only realistic) hope apart from Cam and AA both not top EPL players and Tall Paul is what he’s got to pull something out the bag. I think most Saints fans will understand and value the commitment shown no matter the results under the new man. COYS! 1

Jones and his shite long ball, data driven nonsense, Selles who was clearly a stop gap, Martin and his ridiculous idea, now Juric who seems different again. I get Martin might have been a Wilcox appointment but it certainly doesn't seem like "the philosophy" is coming from Rasmus and co. I'm not overly fond of underlining which (to me ) looks/feels like a shout, or an order. I like to think of it / them as a breath, or pause for thought instead. I was amused to read a while ago, that some well-known recipients of the Nobel Prize for Literature mistreated the English language and use of grammar to an extreme, but it was the content of their work that was most interesting - irrespective of misuse. Occasionally I get a comment from an angry Grammarian, but at least my spelling is reasonably acceptable. b.t.w. I quite enjoy many of your posts, compared to some others who show less respect. On this occasion @trousers has completely left you off the hook. First off, you casually mention your dislike of underlining, but the use of different font styles is literally your trademark posting style. Then, you completely fail to address his actual question about paragraphs. My theory is that you draft your posts in something like Notepad with word wrap turned off, so by default all the words appear on a single infinite line. Nice anecdote about how substance is king, btw. All in all, it's a classic response. Never change, David.
Saint86
Just watched part 1 of his initial press conference. How nice it is to have a serious, intelligent/thoughtful, and mature manager again. Its like a breath of fresh air has blown through the club. All of Martin's nonsense baggage that he carried around with him has evaporated. Back to having a serious football manager again! We're going to make a real fist of staying up i reckon. I'm optimistic at least. Very interesting that he said the reason he wanted this job was because he wanted to manage Southampton. Building on the fact that he said prior to that how he's basically been watching us for 2 years ever since he originally stated at Torino. Work with a couple of Croatians at work and they've got very similar mannerisms - one in particular that i noted is that when asked a question or querying something that they might not like / understand, they'll suddenly raise their voice and the intensity of what they're saying to query it, it brokers no nonsense for the next reply - like you've stepped on a landmine and they better like the next words you're say. You can tell Blackmore isn't used to it, properly tiptoed around him with his questions 😄. Should keep the players on edge and wanting to perform for him - something they defo need.
