My brother has followed Italian football for decades, and gave me a breakdown of Juric's style.

It wasn't a ringing endorsement (which is just fine, after our football revolutions under SR), but said that he was on a hiding to nothing at Roma. Fans were never behind it, and pounced on the first poor results and it went downhill from there.

Before that, he had done well to get teams punching above their weight in a top division. Doing it across multiple teams is a plus, that makes him stand out as a go to person, just as we've done. He mentioned the tightened defence, I've seen mentioned elsewhere and preference for 3 at the back.

Good timing that he's an available manager who was on SR's radar, and whose last departure had club specific circumstances around it.

My biggest concern is that SR will still see survival as a possibility when IMO we should be starting the rebuild already for the Championship promotion season and a manager that knows that league and can get us out of it (not Russ or Jones though) but it seems they still believe it's doable even though we probably need top ten form for the rest of the season to achieve it. As I say I know nothing of Juric other than what is being said but he can't be worse than Russ.*

I’m sure they’re planning for both outcomes… whether those plans are any fucking good remains to be seen.

He’s ticked the boxes for me. Few had heard of him, he’s out of work, his last appointment was a poor one, his average stay as coach is a year - lets gets behind him until we aren’t

I'm going to stick my neck out and say that I think he'll deliver a better points per PL game ratio than RM.

So on that basis, I'm in.

That’s quite specific and ambitious. Sure that the posters on here would chip in for this should Ivan turn out to be a cross between Houdini and Lazarus!

Just read something that he is a 3 at the back merchant?

hopefully this 6 months passes quickly and he sods off

He's here to try to improve us in many areas and win a few games not get us into the Champions League. Let's at least give him a chance before writing him off.

I think I'll be ok. And if he is the second coming, meh, it's not like tattoos hurt right.

Right?

Any idea how quickly he'll be able to obtain a visa?

Hopefully it won’t be an issue (unless he crosses the channel in a small boat).

If he does he probably won't need a visa.

you do know most teams have gone to 3 at the back now, especially in the pressing style that he uses. He wants at least 1 CB to be aggressive when his team has the ball meaning he'll press into a midfield position to allow others to press high. He also wants his wingbacks to press high, so its more like 2 at the back when we have the ball, nothing wrong with that at all.

There are a few World Football Experts on here who have told him to F*ck Off before he has even got off the plane, They may be right, but I am going to go with the little heard thing of waiting to see if he is any good first....

Only thing with this is Wing backs hugely important and have we even got an aggressive cb, you'll see more aggressive cb's in Sunday league

Let’s be honest he’s got a pretty ordinary record, his last job ended badly and there’s nothing to indicate he’s anything other than a stop gap appointment.

If he can get us our second PL win of the season he will be a hit for me

The more I read, the more I quite like. Although I’m not sure if that’s because of the last 3 disasters we’ve had to put up with.

Sounds like he prefers an aggressive, pressing style of play - only concern is you can’t turn people into aggressive machines easily.

Our squad is very soft. Jack Stephens though could turn into prime Maldini though!

Honestly i am surprised that more people weren't aware about him, he has been posted and linked most summers or after sackings on here so he's been in our thinking at least on this forum, i know i posted about him before.

Think he's a decent coach, the interest for me is how does it translate to the premier league, I sense italian based coaches like coming here as there is more freedom to play and an onnus to attack.

I was in the pub earlier today. went for a piss and the bloke next to me in the urinal said “Blimey mush, you didn’t mess around getting IVAN tattooed down your cock.

I said “It doesn’t say IVAN mate, it says “I LOVE BEING A SOUTHAMPTON FAN”.

I’m here all week! 😂

You can pay the Home Office for priority decisions -the club will have paid for the 'super priority' option (which costs £1,000) which ensures a decision is made by the next working day. I will assume we sorted that all out yesterday and his visa was approved today.

I would assume the opposite with SR.
