Gisèle Pelicot, what a very brave and dignified woman she is. It is so good to see her get the justice she so richly deserves after her terrible ordeal.

If only this case could bring about a change in attitude in the Andrew Tates of this world.

When I saw thread wondered what SOG was going to say or confess.

No idea why would expect change in attitudes. FYI crimes such as this have gone on since dawn of time

Media excitement. You think this is so different to women being trafficked to become sex slaves? And all the other horrendous sadists throughout history who have abused and murdered women but this case shows different values?

Like saying after the Myra Hindley case I hope people don’t kill children anymore

Am I the only one who doesn’t really know who Andrew Tate is?

I’ve looked him up a couple of times before but can’t really work out why he’s famous, apart from he seems to be a particularly distasteful prat.

Yep, and I'm not sure what he's doing in a thread about Gisele Pelicot either.

Well, he's got evidence of it going back to the '70s, when he bravely stood up against it by storing them as anecdotes for football forums of the future.

Andrew Tate is the go to hand wringing name drop like Tommy Robinson or Katie Hopkins are for other subjects.

In this case, it didn't need a self proclaimed mysoginist. It was men from all backgrounds, pasts and circumstances either perpetrating crimes or not highlighting concerns to authorities. It's the devastation of abuse impacting whole families and wider society.

Unfortunately it comes from spending many years working for the CPS, although this case has been all over the news for some time if you had bothered to look.

No surprise that the crew who bring up Ched Evans with boring regularity are keeping a low profile with this case.

No doubt Delldays would have been all over this case if the perpetrators had been of Asian origin.

Maybe most people don't want to respond because you're the one starting the thread rather than because they condone horrible acts of rape? It would seem to be a sensible thing to do to give threads you start a miss given that I recently put a sensible reply in your thread about reform and you just ignored it (despite having a go at other posters for ignoring you.)

I'm not sure why you started this thread to be honest. No one has shown any hint of sympathy for people who have drugged and raped a defenceless woman. Why would they?

Even though you've replied you haven't explicitly condemned it so I'm concerned that you're at the very least rape neutral.

Every man is a rapist. They even started life inside a woman without her consent

A policeman friend of mine eventually left the force because he said that dealing with the same group of troublemakers changed his outlook on life, made him very cynical and distorted his view on what the average person was like because she had to deal with such misery and bad behaviour all the time.

Being charitable to soggy (something he never is to anyone else) maybe his time at the CPS has caused him to have a distorted view of reality in the same way which is why he doesn't think that the vast majority of men aren't fans of rape.

I'm not convinced counting pencils and post it notes whilst distributing typing ribbons and tipex can make a person THAT angry.

P.s. I'm not a fan of grapes.

There was no mention of CE until you mentioned him. And as for the perpetrators, many are of North African extraction, ( not that it makes any difference ). Perhaps people aren't posting because the subject does not require intense scrutiny - at least they are being sensible enough to not let it degenerate into the usual bating / taunting exchange.

And there we have the real reason you created this thread. To try and score some incredibly pathetic point over people you don’t like on an internet forum.

What an appalling man.

I’ve never been clear if Fry is a ‘usual suspect’. Now he has been clear in this post that he loves rapists and hates Muslims I think it is pretty obvious

Yep - an appalling case that had no real debate element that he was trying to crowbar in

This. I would have been interested to hear views, if people were interested in discussing, as per other threads. But seeing who started it, meant it was likely to end up in the usual way.

Much the same for me, particularly with the folk I knew from school going into policing. I consider myself fortunate to only deal with certain areas tangentially. Even those, and the training, are really harrowing.

From what I've seen on replies to SOG, it wasn't a distorted view of reality, so much as glibly trying to attach himself to real CPS investigative work, as opposed to the administration of it, that assisted in him getting into bother trivialising child abuse.

I first thought CE was Church of England, as per recent news. But I see it's this again.

And this is why people may choose not to interact. A serious subject used as an excuse for other things. All with the usual pretence a 4 year old could see through.

Just in the OPs I see in replies, there's the usual stuff. They aren't posts inviting anything other than echo chambers/ validation replies. Just excuses to get out some whataboutery, old grudges that are still not over, insults to specific posters that then broadens  to those not interacting. That's not even starting to take apart the comments themselves.

Just a shame to see threads go this way.
