HarvSFC Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 Happy to see Ramsdale back in. Not so happy to see Adam Armstrong starting up top. 2

Lighthouse Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 It wouldn't appear Juric has had too much input on that team selection, I'm guessing it's basically Rusk sticking to what everyone knows in the short term. As for Archer/Armstrong - meh, two goal a season striker replaces four goal a season striker, neither is Del Piero.

trousers Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 At least he's made Bednarek captain, rather than Armstrong.... 1

GrumpyYorkshireSaint Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 What does Tall Paul have to do to get into the starting line up? Surely he has proved he can cause issues on the pitch. 8

Suga hasn’t been starting, manning has. Armstrong never plays down the middle (if that is where he’s playing) & the captain has changed. Picking the best available players, in a coherent formation is a change from the previous 🤡

HKsaint Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 I think we take away Tall Paul and Sulemana who had good performance in the 2nd half vs Liverpool on purpose. They are the tallest and fastest in this league.

Three at the back, Dibling and Fernandes in front of Aribo and Downes. We've yet to see how they're actually going to shape up and play but the only real change of personnel is Suga in for Manning.

Saint Scott Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 Would like to have seen lallana start over Aribo and not convinced with Arma up top. If we're still in the game at 60 mins, hopefully we can utilise Tall Paul 1
sfc4prem Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 Is Adarma just a shite version of Shane Long? Surely Archer ahead of him. The circus rolls on... 3
whelk Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 Warm up to the game showing Liverpool players opening presents FFS it is not hilarious
Sheaf Saint Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 I believe it was reported that Archer played through illness on Wednesday, so that probably explains why he's not starting today.
whelk Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 So the warm up to this game is basically people posting why the fuck isn’t Archer playing and the rest posting telling that he has been ill this week. why the fuck is Armstrong playing ahead of Archer? 1

Suga was good when he came on against Liverpool. Looked like the player we bought, who we saw pre-season, bombing on on the overlap and getting crosses in, before Russball completely stymied the strengths of his natural game and made him look ineffective. Not entirely convinced by him defensively yet, but I'm excited to see more of him going forward, as it could give us another attacking option that we desperately need. AlexLaw76 Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 Oooooh 5 at the back. looking forward to another game where we surrender midfield
captainchris Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 What is it with our staff picking Armstrong up front when every shred of evidence tells us he is crap there! 1
Baird of the land Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 An attack of Armstrong by himself feels pointless to me. Was really hoping we’d see archer and onachu paired. 1

That's because pressing is a team endeavour. Arma often initiates the press because he is relatively quick and runs for days. The reason it looks futile is that he hasn't been getting the backup. Sulemana gave some second half in the week, but usually, the other forwards just watch. That will change now, and think arma will look good again with more support. 1

Saint Matty 76 Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 Sky going from being "surprised Dibling is still at Southampton" to calling out Juric for not being in the dugout today, even though he doesn't have a work permit which takes 10 seconds to find out on Twitter 1 1

His comments on Dibling showed that he had zero knowledge about the situation. At least Redknapp as much as he is a prick was aware that he went to Chelsea and came back.
