Infuriating. Armstrong up front instead...why.

Don’t particularly rate Archer either but how Armstrong is ahead of him is ridiculous

Maybe the new boss thinks he fits the  high-pressing / counter-attacking model better? Dunno. Wouldn't be my first choice either though.

I guess its because he can remember how a pressing system works from under Ralph and Selles and will be the one to intiate the press as the striker.

Fit enough to be on the bench and potentially come on after a first minute injury.

Certainly an odd one as it's pretty obvious that Armstrong is not a centre forward.

It wouldn't appear Juric has had too much input on that team selection, I'm guessing it's basically Rusk sticking to what everyone knows in the short term. As for Archer/Armstrong - meh, two goal a season striker replaces four goal a season striker, neither is Del Piero.

Armstrong's 'pressing' consists of running around the oppo half like a headless chicken and watching their defenders pass it around him.

Surely Rusk picked today's side?

I'd be surprised if Juric hasn't had some kind of influence though...?

Not so sure. If it's Rusk's gig then I don't feel Juric should or would get involved out of respect but could be wrong.

Based on what?

Suga hasn’t been starting, manning has. Armstrong never plays down the middle (if that is where he’s playing) & the captain has changed.

Picking the best available players, in a coherent formation is a change from the previous 🤡

That sounds like madness, it'll never catch on

I think we take away Tall Paul and Sulemana who had good performance in the 2nd half vs Liverpool on purpose. They are the tallest and fastest in this league.

Armstrong replaces Archer because the latter has apparently been ill. Three at the back, Dibling and Fernandes in front of Aribo and Downes. We've yet to see how they're actually going to shape up and play but the only real change of personnel is Suga in for Manning.

At least he's made Bednarek captain, rather than Armstrong....

I would like THB to be given a chance as captain.

So the warm up to this game is basically people posting why the fuck isn’t Archer playing and the rest posting telling that he has been ill this week.

why the fuck is Armstrong playing ahead of Archer?

Suga was good when he came on against Liverpool. Looked like the player we bought, who we saw pre-season, bombing on on the overlap and getting crosses in, before Russball completely stymied the strengths of his natural game and made him look ineffective. Not entirely convinced by him defensively yet, but I'm excited to see more of him going forward, as it could give us another attacking option that we desperately need.

That's because pressing is a team endeavour.  Arma often initiates the press because he is relatively quick and runs for days.

The reason it looks futile is that he hasn't been getting the backup.  Sulemana gave some second half in the week, but usually, the other forwards just watch.  That will change now, and think arma will look good again with more support.

Sky going from being "surprised Dibling is still at Southampton" to calling out Juric for not being in the dugout today, even though he doesn't have a work permit which takes 10 seconds to find out on Twitter

No offence but when has Arma ever looked good in this league?

Is Les Ferdinand surprised Josh King is still at Fulham?

His comments on Dibling showed that he had zero knowledge about the situation. At least Redknapp as much as he is a prick was aware that he went to Chelsea and came back.
