Wade Garrett Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 Would bring on Lallana and Archer for Dibling ( not his day ) and Armstrong ( a defender’s dream ). 2
beatlesaint Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 What a welcome relief to see the ball cleared when it’s in a dangerous area as opposed to this being brave bollocks 2
Saint NL Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 Half time. I'll take that, look much more solid than recent weeks. Not much in the way of entertainment, but a point here would be a good start.

obelisk Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 Maybe bring on Bree and move Shinagawa forward to replace Dibbers.
DT Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 What is the point of Armstrong? Useless. At least tall Paul holds it up. Shall we try and shoot? Attack? Win a game? This lot are not great. Better to give it a go than hang on for a fairly useless point. Otherwise why bother? 1
davefizzy14 Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 (edited) Defensively we have been pretty solid. But need to show much more in the final third. We haven't created anything yet. Would like to see Lallana, Onuachu, Sulemana and Archer on. Edited 22 December, 2024 by davefizzy14

Previously we'd have gifted Fulham at least one goal by now. 2
Saint NL Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 If you'd put a fiver on a Armstrong offside and Downes yellow card each game, you'd be rich by now 🤣 2

sadoldgit Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 Nothing going forward. Fulham are bossing the game at the moment. We need to cause them more problems, they have too much time on the ball in midfield.
Scoobysaint Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 Everybody called out for more direct, less messing around at the back. How many times already have we just given possession back with long punts from Ramsdale. The target is Aribo but it doesn’t work. Why can’t we have a sensible version of Russball. Pass and move but if you’re in the shite, you lump it. We seem to be playing a very confused way today. Good that the new gaffer is seeing this before the work starts tomorrow.
benjii Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 (edited) Downes yellow card was a joke. Hope that doesn't come back to bite us. Keep it tight then try some subs and a slight tweak of shape to sneak the win. Need some presence up top. That could be Tall Paul or it could also be Lallana to retain possession a bit better. Edited 22 December, 2024 by benjii 1
Saint Matty 76 Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 It's time to give Onuachu 45 to have a go He looks absolutely shite but 1) can't be less impactful than Armstrong and 2) may actually do something with one of these long balls 1

Holmes_and_Watson Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 Fulham the stronger. But we've kept them reasonably comfortably to shots from distance, and have covered those quite well. We look more solid at the back, using Martin's passing angles along with more flexible range from the back. No suicidal passing today, as the players are allowed to choose what's best. Nothing to speak of up front. Dibling raw and a bit lightweight against his opponents, but the one who is getting it and being direct. AA very quiet, working a lot of ground across the park. Fernandes doing okay. But no real chances created. 1
Lord Duckhunter Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 Proper defensive performance for once. But limited going forward, Dibling been off it for a couple of games now (which happens with youngsters) and AA is fucking pony. Hopefully we can stay in the game, defending properly, before getting TP, Lallana & Archer on to give it a go in the last 20. 4

Chez Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 Wood error there - losing it in a bad area. He did that sort of thing a lot last season for Swansea. He'll have to cut that out of his game. Bednarek covers him, so it didnt matter this time.

Its a 50/50 ball for a reason. Our only chances came from this type of punt, as well. My A-hole hasn't been puckered for 45 straight minutes either. So thats a win for at least me.

NewYorkSaint Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 Armstrong's been doing his part in an occasionally impressive press, but I agree he shd give way to tall Paul or Archer. I'd keep Dibling on. How good would a clean sheet feel? I'm v happy to have Bednarek as captain. Feel he's been a seriously under-appreciated player. Always gives his all. 1

HarvSFC Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 Not the most inspiring first half, but it is still 0-0, as opposed to last week when we were 5-0 down. Been looking for the high press, as it's been a much needed tactic that we've needed to go back to for a long while now, but I haven't seen it. Dibling, there's a lot of noise about him being a poor trainer/a bit too relaxed and today I'm not seeing anything from him off the ball. He's not even breaking into a jog and on the ball he's being trying to do too much today. Playing like an individual, rather than a team player and I don't think his off the ball work would be accepted at a bigger club. Adam Armstrong, we all knew he'd be poor, but again he's not even running off the ball today. Several phases of play where Leno's just been on the ball unpressured. Man United closed down Forster in midweek and got a goal from it. Put pressure on the goalkeeper, sometimes they pass it to forwards, as we've become all too accustomed to. I think the two players that would have impressed Juric so far are two Martin favourites. Downes and Wood. Downes has been putting himself about well, received a very harsh booking. Give him some more positional discipline and I think he'll suit Juric. While, Wood has looked good at centre-back once again, following a Holgateesque debut. I know the three centre-backs is also a Juric formation, but I think we need more bodies up the pitch for some control and we also need an out ball up the field. 1
sfc4prem Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 Wait, we're not a couple of goals down? Let's mark that down as improvement, then!!

This five at the back formation does nothing for us going forward. I hate it. I guess we haven't conceded...
suewhistle Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 Well.. we've not conceded and I rather prefer us being brave further up the pitch. Lack of quality in the final third as usual. What I noticed is that KWP has lost a bit of pace and some of the things he tries don't come off; perhaps he needs to change his approach a little. Aribo is another lacking just that bit of pace at this level although he's strong enough. We were pressing more but not sure how long we can maintain it. I hope the referee watches the video at half time of Downes' tackle and blushes deeply..

coalman Posted 22 December, 2024 Author Posted 22 December, 2024 We've gone from high risk no reward football to low risk no reward football. That's still a step forward. Get Dibling, Aribo and Armstrong off and let's have a go at them.

Harry_SFC Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 Not sure Dibling will be in the side for long if he gives up that easily when Juric is in charge...
Zorba Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 Manning on at LB, KWP over to the right. Push Suga up. Dibling off, give him a rest. Tall Paul on. Armstrong off. Saints win 2-0. Job done.

Thought we should've given him the captaincy last season. He's literally the only player that we have that communicates to others throughout the game. He's a full international with 65 caps under his belt as well. Hopefully Ivan takes the captaincy from Jack. The way he acted in the Chelsea game alone is enough to strip him of it IMO. 2
saintant Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 We aren't likely to avoid relegation so I can't see why we aren't having a go at winning this game. If we lose trying what difference does it make - let's go for 3 points rather than protecting one point which'll make little difference to us. 2

washsaint Posted 22 December, 2024 Posted 22 December, 2024 SO our one creative player, that can actually make things happen, is taken off while the useless piece of shit that is Armstrong stays on. What a dull, uninspiring team/squad we have. Throughly depressing club.
