F**k me, Diallo, I forgot he ever existed in a Saints shirt. Possibly the biggest non-entity footballer we've ever had, I literally can't remember one thing he did here.

He was one of those (many) who some would claim they could see a player in there… a bit like Seku Mara

Cheers, do you know is clips or a write up is available anywhere?

Only available on the Saints App at the moment I think.

One thing that did concern me somewhat is that he said he hasn't had chance to speak to the players much about tomorrow's game yet, and the first training session he's got with them appears to be 'now', almost 48 hours after the game on Sunday. F*** knows who thought it was a good idea to stick with giving the players yesterday off, and seemingly nothing happening between the players and caretaker coach this morning either.... Hopefully the new guy (or lady) arrives with a consignment of rods of iron to get these players back into shape...

Yeah assuming some of the players will hardly even know who he is there's not much chance to make an impact in one day

I had exactly the same concerns.  The players had yesterday off and with a game tomorrow under a new coach I'd have expected them to have met up and trained this morning. I guess they know what they're doing 🙂

Rusk came across really well in the press conference FWIW

I was hoping it came across better than it read.

I just scanned the echo write up and it seemed like he didn’t actually answer any of the questions really. Maybe because he couldn’t, but still. Wasn’t the most inspiring read.

Yep. Get spanked 5 nil at home, have a cup game a couple of days later against probably the best team in the world, have a caretaker manager in who's never trained the team, so allow the players a day with their feet up. Beyond ridiculous.

Thanks. I know there needs to be balance to manage a busy schedule and there is likely a counter argument for headspace and reflection but I’m surprised the players had two days after the shower of sh1te performance against Spurs. Have to think that if we had somebody permanent they would have cancelled the second day.

Well beyond ridiculous is what Sports republic have done so far in 3 years or so , so nothing surprises me where they are concerned.

Won't make the game unfortunately - too much hassle getting home!

Single adult/concession ticket (Kingsland North block 33).
Free to good home.

It’s been said a few times recently, but the standards at the club are pathetically low.

WTF is going on?

Have they forgotten there’s a game on?

No wonder they’re unfit, all they do is have days off and go on Christmas piss ups. Joke of a club.

No pride. No leadership. Hoping to escape embarrassment. Anything above that is a plus.

0-3. Russel looks like a genius for the close results a few weeks back.

Hopefully the new manager scraps Mondays off at least. If you have a week with two games you're leaving yourself 3 days for training...one day more than my local amateur side Dorchester has.

I’m assuming it’s the day after the game, which is usually Sunday rather than Monday.

No the players used to get the two days after the game off. Play on Saturday = Sundays and Mondays off. Ridiculous.

I wonder if our piss poor decision making mid game is because we only trained when we are well rested. Then when the game starts and we're knackered we're not used to making game decisions tired under pressure. Would also help explain how we fade so badly.

Has a senior team lost three home games in a row by 5 goals before? Could be another record breaking night for us

I'm not sure the fan base can take another one, we've had the stuffing knocked out of us. I really feel for the youngsters, it's doing real damage to their pride in being Saints fans.

You would think any new coach/manager would want to get stuck in amongst this excuse for a squad straight away and  stamp his authority on them. How on earth does he decide who pick for the starting line up? talk about the sacreficial lamb

Hey guys, about that latest feeble home defeat, you all looked absolutely clueless and like you just didn't care.

What's that, everyone in at 8am sharp tomorrow and watch the whole game back to analyse it as a group?

Nah, have a couple of days off as a reward.

Would be an insane way to tackle this week.

Literally feels like no-one is really running the club at the moment.

The days off, not even bothering to consider a managerial contingency plan until Dragan saw first hand how shit we were and phoned up at half time to say ‘sack him’. It’s amateur hour.

Given that Rasmus and Co’s only jobs are to run the football clubs under their stewardship, you have to wonder what they do all day if they aren’t getting ahead of basic operational stuff like this. It’s basically negligence at this point.

If I was Dragan and it was my money, I’d be cleaning house about now and starting again with a whole new team. The current lot have failed at every conceivable level this season. As a ‘leadership’ team they aren’t fit for purpose.

He must be starting to think about selling up and moving on. Its now evident to him that he and SR aren't very good at running a club. It must have cost them money and it seems headache at every turn. What are they getting out of it?

Though I struggle to see the ownership value of any team like the Saints. Profit and silverware nigh on impossible, relegation, financial loss and fan hate always a few results away. Its a no win situation.  Just to survive you need to be pretty good at at it.

SR are clearly below standard, t so I don't see what Dragan's long term goal is  ... unless its the handshakes and networking with other chairmen and owners which opens up business deals for him.

That goes some way to explaining players lack of fitness/alertness, but straightaway that also is an opportunity for improvement.

Still don't blame the players. How many of us if told: "Don't come in on Monday," would say "No, I want to."

I couldn’t believe after that performance that they still got the day off! No wonder there’s no fight in the soft twats!

It's absolutely unbelievable that they had 2 scheduled days off before what you could have considered one of the most important games of the season. That speaks absolute volumes about Martin's quality as a manager.

You'd think with a game that important they should be right back in the next day - sure, the players that played 90 mins should be in recovery mode, but the others should be training, then everyone should be doing film sessions or planning. The situation in the club right now sounds absolutely shambolic.

It'll be interesting to see whether Rusk gives a game to any of the youngsters particularly Sam Amo. Also, will he start Tall Paul up front. Just hoping it's not a complete re-hash of Russball. Even if we lose let's at least try something different.
