Very good authority he will be gone by the morning.

Paddy Power are offering 3/1 if you want to make some easy cash on it.

Jones sacked a week later fwiw. Interesting.

No idea if this is true or not but it did feel like something changed today. It wouldn't surprise me if we do finally make a switch.

Upon reading the Echo report on Martin's post-match comments, I texted a mate the following:

"For fear of tempting fate, every one of these comments reads like a bloke who is out of ideas and knows that he's losing his job, no?"

Oh don't tease us! Whose the good authority? why now and why not five games ago when we still had a slim chance of survival?

Throwing fans under the bus is the biggest cunt thing to do.

I'm Russell's biggest fans, But he is losing it.

Your Russell's biggest fans? So he has at least two fans then well that's news!

How many of you are there? Or do you keep passing the ball back and forth in your brain?

They’ve been delaying the inevitable for ages.  He should have gone after the Bournemouth debacle.

Praying this is true 🙏 But I won't believe anything until I see something official from the club

Where’s the mods when you need them? What a misleading thread, nothing official at all, and don’t expect there to be anytime soon 👍🏼 board are sleepwalking into absolute nothingness and hoping they can just bury their head in the sand and hope it all goes away

I'm happy to believe it.

I'm also dreading the announcement of the replacement.

Surely it can't get any worse, but SR are in charge so you never know!

This echoes my thoughts. At least we know it won’t be Frank Lampard thankfully.

100%, his comments about Mason Greenwood are enough to ignore every word of rubbish he spouts on here

Shame. I even had a headline:

Russell Martin backed, sacked and cracked

  • Lighthouse changed the title to Martin sacked (rumour)

He had a bit of a dig at us with the snide ‘cheer’ remark yesterday. He’s also said ‘it is what it is’ on a number of occasions recently which in itself isn’t a great thing to say. Not the sort of reactions of someone who wants to keep people onboard

Nor the reactions of someone who cares.

Whether this story is true, or not ?...it's plain that continuing to follow the same formula that clearly isn't working is

leading us nowhere.  His dutiful support of those players who are clearly sub-standard at this level serves no purpose

and it is pointless to try and substitute enthusiasm and encouragement.. in the place of skill and self-confidence.

His blatant refusal to consider any form of alternative Plan B... is / was / will ...most likely lead to his eventual downfall.

The majority of the goals we have scored have come more from luck than judgement, and the lack of consistency from any

of the available strikers only goes to worsen the already miserable start to the season.

There may be some degree of misfortune attributed to;  the long list of injuries, and a number of the deplorable VAR decisions

we've endured in recently but the fact remains despite some creditable individual performances - things need to improve PDQ.

If he's looking to quick way out, the answer may come sooner than anyone thinks, and the thought of a year or two on the beach

somewhere warm doesn't sound unattractive to some people - (depending on the company you are with) .

We will soon reach the point of no return, and even the thought of another  " Great Escape " may only be a glorious memory.

Possibly, a few new faces in January might help turn the tide, but fresh ideas are needed because at present we can only

admit that whatever brave ideas he has about " the system"  at the moment ....." just 'ain't working " Russell .

When someone says “It is what it is” they mean it can’t be changed and must be accepted. Him saying this means he has no clue how to change things. Something we all knew months ago

Very unlikely RM will go as Saints won't spend on anyone who can get a run of wins Potter etc would be crazy to take job. Looking at previous tables at 1st Jan teams 3rd/4th bottom had 12 to 14 points. Can Saints get 3 wins soon? It's a massive task to get 32 points let alone 36. Lots of managers play back to keeper and that's been proved to not work so new manager could get us less points. The other problem is new manager won't have a budget to get any players, unless we sell 3 or 4. We can't get out of this situation as too late in season.

Why would we wait until Monday?  Either he is sacked or he isn’t.  Seems a bit pointless to wait until Monday to make an announcement.

I'd like to think we're lining up a replacement ready to take charge immediately.

Knowing us we'll wait too long, sack him on a whim with no plan and then have Carl Martin as caretaker for the busy Christmas period

The fact the we are already relegated is not a reason to not sack Martin.

I don't expect any replacement to keep us up, no chance now.

That doesn't mean we should continue to feed the preening ego and future job prospects of the guy who got us in this mess.

Exactly, Jones’s sacking was made public on Sunday.

They'd better have someone lined up. And by someone I mean a football manager instead of Rasmus's latest left field whim.

It's why he survived past Leicester - they approached the agents of Moyes and Potter and both said categorically no, which is why we kept him for the time-being.

They wanted someone in place to bring in quickly.

So here we are, 7 weeks after the Leicester game and they still can't find someone to replace Russell. Not looking hard enough.
