That trophy will sit nicely next to the net spend trophy

Record low points definitely a possibility

record mistakes leading to goals almost in the bag by 15 games

record defeat we already have secured but good chance we can beat that before the season is out

This is terrible.. possession but going nowhere with it, weekly feck up at the back, when we attack we get into good positions and then give the ball away.  Armstrong a complete waste of a shirt I’m sorry to say, done nothing, can’t go past his man either.
need to get dibling into the game as he’s our best hope

Might go ahead with my to do list instead of watching 2nd half. It's been such a boring match. Nothing Saints do is exciting because we can't:

Pass the ball accurately in attacking 3rd

Score goals

Not stop with the huge blunders in our box

Stay onside

Look threatening at all

I’m not sure what Armstrong did to get a gig in the premier league, he’s a long way below the standard required

It’s quite simple, he’s a decent Championship player and we didn’t sign any other attacking players better than that. It’s the same reason Manning, Bree, Wood and Stephens are getting plenty of game time.

We are comfortably the worst coached team in the league

fucking awful

Martin out

I think you’re hyping up whatever Russ does with the team midweek - I wouldn’t characterise it by calling it coaching…there’s little or no resemblance of that out on the pitch. What I see is 11 strangers struggling to understand a system that weeks ago failed to produce a positive result.

He’s certainly not working on fitness . We look so unfit these days, Even innocuous knocks seem to take our players weeks to recover from.  I miss the Poch days.

More excuses.

We’ve got a German international centre half he won’t play. We’ve got an experienced premier league full back he won’t play. There’s 2 that should be out there.

There’s a reason we’re one of the worst sides in premier league history and it’s not the players. Far worse squads than ours have put up a far greater attempt at staying up. This is pathetic, both the side and the people sticking up for one of the worst mangers in top flight history.

Maybe we can scrape a draw.

I can see a situation where we do knick a goal around 60mins, then we have a good 10 minute spell where we're well on top and miss a few chances.

Then we gift Villa a simple winner (and late third).

I lost count of the amount of times we could have got it forward quick and caused them problems only for the player to turn around and pass backwards. Watching this lot play is so frustrating - you don’t score unless you take a few risks FFS.

the weird thing is that if all you looked at was the general run of play for the half, an independent viewer would say it was even stevens.  We gave as good as we got... just as many sweeping forward moves... and, in the conditions, they made as many mistakes as we did.  Am I wrong?

And if I'm right, the narrative that our squad isn't premier league quality is false. Even missing 5 of our best players, we're competitive.

Tis a game of fine margins. And so far, they're not working in our favour....

I'm seeing all the same mistakes at the back from us but Villa seem vulnerable passing out as well. Our main issue is how pedestrian we play. We've won the ball back in good positions but too often our next pass is back to a defender. Those moments we have reached their box, we've lacked the quality and composure to even force a save. Conditions have been a bit of a leveller but we don't look like we're going to score.

They take plenty of risks.

They're just in the completely wrong area of the pitch to get any reward from them.
