This could well be a fixture where we don't get any points.

Bearded excuse monkey, Russell Martin, will be hoping the referee is involved at some point so he can soulfully bemoan the injustice of it all in his post match interview in-between heartfelt sighs. Before repeating his mantra that it's all part of the long term plan and he's proud of everyone.

We all know what's going to happen, we'll piss about with it at the back, Villa will score, our heads will drop, they'll score a couple more, in the post match interviews their manager will patronise Martin and Martin will say we're brave, we're learning, he saw a lot he liked and completely fucking ignore the fact he's the worst top flight manager in our history, worse than even Steve fucking Wigley.

Team for the game - I couldn't give a fuck whilst the useless lego headed cunt is still in charge. We could have prime Maradona, Cruyff and Beckenbauer in the side and he'd still train them to pass it sideways and backwards.

So what are you saying? That because RM has turned out to be just as shit (or worse) as a PL manager than his predecessor, we should just accept that?

Expand

No, I'm saying that Jones was a very obvious downgrade on what came before. Martin doesn't have a predecessor who was achieveing roughly a point per game wih this squad. I'm not saying nobody could possibly do better than Martin, I'm saying that there isn't a very clear example of him being worse, like there was with Jones.

There you have it - we've been doing it wrong. Tomorrow I suggest we all watch the match, not as football fans, but tactically. Then we'll understand that tomorrow's result shouldn't look like it almost certainly will. Congratulations to Martin for instilling his excuse mentality on an international defender.

another huge opportunity to learn and grow. We will have some great moments. So proud of our players for believing in what we are doing, so much love and respect for them. So proud of Russell for sticking with it despite what you clueless lot say. Believe in what we are doing. Brighton are copying us, Pep is learning from us, We are getting plaudits from so many managers it's starting to click. Remember at Swansea how Martins team were poor before christmas but then clicked to narrowly miss out on the play offs. I think we'll see the same here and narrowly miss out on the champions league. The revolution has started.

Not good for fans travelling by train :(

I’m just over an hour from Villa Park and it’s very windy here now. Game probably on as predicted to lower slightly by circa 11am but the trains that the fans need run from your neck of the woods and Wales which is equally impacted. Best case scenario is running and speed restrictions. So possibly no pub before. Returning might be a bit better.

More in the sense we expect to get hammered by the “top 6”, no one really expects to lose by 5 or 6 goals against Villa.

That could be later as the forecast is looking bad - if the clubs and WMP reckon there’s danger from flying debris and the local and national rail isn’t running - the trams are unlikely to be I think - it may well be off https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2655603

Why can't RM take a more pragmatic approach? Why is he stuck in this suicidal one lane system that is killing us week after week.

The few times I've seen us divert from the tactic we've looked significantly more competitive, why can't this idiot see this?

IMHO the game will be off, far too risky. Suppose the storm is as bad as the Beeb predicts and the roof came off a grandstand……..

No lawyer on the planet would allow clubs to take the chance.

Of course it could all be a storm in a teacup but this country is far too risk averse to respond to that.

Cardiff/Newport/Plymouth games all off and a lot of the Xmas markets such as Bath cancelled. Very unlikely but will get up early and see if the storm blows through earlier than forecast. Not holding out much hope though.

I doubt the integrity of the stadiums is in question (apart from Fratton, obviously) it’s more the danger of tens of thousands of people traveling to and from the stadium and the risk of falling trees, debris, traffic accidents etc. not to mention the likely disruption to the rail network.

The Beeb aren’t predicting anything, they’re just passing on info from the met office, who’re saying it could get quite lively. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a lot of games off.

Looking grim in all directions, M5 not an option. Probably local roads and local station nearer Brum eg Redditch or Longbridge.

Why not the M5 out of interest, just because of all the extra traffic on it due to the M42 closure?

I was thinking of going up that way and joining the M5 near Gloucester but this has made me reconsider.

M5 still open as it stands, from where I am I know the A and B roads better, hopefully no incidents on the Worcestershire phase. It’s been terrible recently for incidents and closures hence my caution but it is probably your best bet from Hants. One option if the M5 remains alright is to see if you can park at one of the cross-city line stations for Aston (15 mins walk, nearest is Witton) - Redditch in N Worcs might be one option. Longbridge is another. If you don’t want to drive as far, try Bromsgrove, modern station and cheap fares.

Cheers I'll give it some thought. Ideally don't want to rely on trains but might be the best option for this. Will stop at services somewhere along the way and make my decision then.

I know it’s bad down here but looks like conditions are going to be even worse up Birmingham way tomorrow, fully expect most games to be postponed although surprised they’ve not done so already. The games featuring the big 6 will probably go ahead still, foreign audiences and all that.

There's only a yellow warning for the Midlands - pretty much the same as our game last week.  Wouldn't expect it to be called off unless there is anything major that happens on the road or train networks.
