THB mistake cost us the Forest game and the first Brentford goal and I'm worried he'll not be an upgrade on Stephens as he's looked out of his depth so far this season.

Hopefully he'll settle down with a run of games.

Last season Stephens started in 4 of our 11 defeats.

He didn't start the two 5 goal thrashings or the 4 goal home defeat by Leicester either.

Average player with flaws.. Basically the same as our other defenders just vilified more than the others for some reason.

Not quite sure vilified is quite the right word. I've no doubt he cares for the club, but at the end of the day, he's just not good enough. We as fans have seen this and have known this for about the last five years or so. Yet Martin does not, a supposed professional football manager.

I like Jack Stephens, seems a good guy. Great character. Lower/mid-level Champsionship centre-back. Shouldn't be anywhere near a Premier League starting 11.

Russell has hung his coat on the wrong door, but because he's also a good bloke (on the face of it), he doesn't want to take it off again. That's no good, he needs to be ruthless.

Think that's a bit unfair on Yoshi, who while not on VVD / Fonte level was a 'lower-middle' class Premier league defender IMO. Also that season Fonte did seem to be increasingly and alarmingly error prone if I remember correctly.

I feel Stephens has this uncanny knack of making whoever he's playing with look crap! It's something to do with the way he loses attention and drifts away from whoever he's meant to be marking and then the other CB is left desperately trying to cover...

Nah Yoshida was a cracking fella, very popular, you cannot fault his commitment or effort but he would have struggled to get into any other premier league team then or now. He was at best a squad player for a relegation fighting team.

That’s what I meant by undisciplined. I never expected him to go and try to break the legs of an opposing winger.

THB was sold a hospital pass by Stephens who had wandered upfield as usual. Their second goal came about because Stephens decided to surge forward and intercept a ball that was meant for Bednarek.

No he is not. Simply applying derisory epithets to him does not help.
He may not start at any other club - opinion- but in terms of an on pitch encouraging voice he happens to be the best we have got ( fact).

The season we went down and the squad that RM inherited was notable for its relative meek natured silence on pitch. JS cannot do it alone but in that regard he is way better than the other  skippers I can recall we have had in last year ; AA, AM and FD ( oh and Che at Gillingham!)
Getting sent off and mouthing off is not clever but the guy has fight in him wearing our shirt our crest ffs and for that alone we should be more respectful.

He can encourage from the sidelines

Im really not interested in his ‘voice’ if his ability is detrimental to our performances on the pitch, I also couldn’t give a toss if he has a red n white tattooed c*ck, he’s our 4th best CB… thats all that matters

It always baffles me when people fawn so hard over players, Im sure he’s a great guy, Im in no way assassinating his character, but im absolutely entitled to comment on his ability and how it affects my club

Just before half time on Saturday I could plainly hear all the Man Utd players calling to each other. Not a peep out of our players and even less from the crowd.

He could be out for longer as just been charged by FA for derogatory remarks to 4th official and referee.

These officials don’t like the truth…

Sorry, I forgot inadequate attempts at humour aren't allowed on here.

However i'm not convinced that it would have been the same outcome if it had been the other team committing the offence.

Working in bournemouth, I speak to a lot of Bournemouth fans. They all loved him, couldn't believe we loaned him out whilst we were struggling.

I think that highlights the issue we have:

1 He was good enough for the support CB in lower PL side

2 Bournemouth could utilise him to the best of his abilities

3 Better players mitigate any risk of a fuck up

4 Raised his game/confidence playing with better players

I could wax lyrical about his lack of awareness, poor marking, horrendous distribution, poor positional play and terrible decision-making, but can’t be arsed.

He’s fucking dogshit.

That lot down there never did know much about football - but on kite surfing, cycling and orienteering their knowledge knows no bounds.

Jack Stephens cares about our club and I for one am pleased to have somebody like him in the dressing room. Our problem when we went down last time was because there were not characters like him about the club.

I am very happy with this, as long as he remains in the dressing room.

You won’t find many people upset by this (me included), but if that was the other way around there’s no way a Utd player is getting an extra two game ban.

Stuart Atwell: “Following a foul challenge in the 79th minute, I dismissed #SaintsFC player Jack Stephens.. After advising Mr Stephens that the Video Assistant Referee had confirmed the decision, Mr Stephens responded by calling me a "c*nt", before leaving the field of play. I considered this comment to be offensive, insulting and abusive.”

Gavin Ward: “Following the sending off of Jack Stephens he left the field of play, he looked right at me and said: "You fucking little c*nt". He then went back onto the field of play, when he left to go down the tunnel this time, again he looked right at me and said "you're a c*nt".

Thankfully we’ve stopped giving away soft goals and switching off defensively all the time, since he got banned. Long may that continue, as he is the reason for all that is evil in the world etc.
