I was going to watch, but not so sure now. Lumley wasn't good enough for the Champ, but now he starts in the PL. TP obviously more injured than Martin was letting on yesterday. We are beginning to build a longish injury list, still only another 2 weeks and Stewart will be back.

I asked earlier on what about Lumley playing and lo and behold he is playing!

Didn't wanna say anything to spoil it as it was not that outrageous as McCarthy was playing with injections against Liverpool - but made me laugh!

Can I just point out that losing Adam, "a top professional and great lad to have in the dressing room," Lallana doesn’t seem to have hampered Brighton in any way whatsoever, to the same extent it hasn’t helped us either. Perhaps we can finally put this myth to bed and stop coming up with such nonsense reasons for signing players.

He may not tell them to per se but my guess is that there are many sideways passes in training.

Yeah, I bet when someone boots it out of play he stops training and shows them the four players that were "open" for the pass instead. Similarly when someone shoots from distance they're probably told to look for the player on the overlap, or told about how they've just created more work for the team in having to win the ball back so why wouldn't they just play it short.

Experience is absolutely vital but signing a 36 year old that can barely play an hour of football was always a bad idea.

give the fellow a chance Vectis.    If he concedes less than 3 goals he's a better choice than McCarthy.

Hes been a class above most of our players this season . If the rest were anywhere near his level we would have more points.

The fact that we’re talking about a man who, in half a season, has managed 0 goals, 2 assists, the mobility of a P&O ferry and can barely stay fit for half a game, just shows how pathetic the rest of our options are.

Another crazy line-up with sub-standard players - Lumsdale is no worse than McC but team consistency is important - reckon this is his proverbial petty slap on Alex’s wrists. Pre-match interview was an exercise in waffle. TP out because he upstaged Russ in the Pool game.

Got no hope that we’ll get anything from the game - there will be loads of mistakes in our pen area and they will take advantage. We’re going to get spanked…just hope it’s not too embarrassing.

I think back to players like Fonte and Romeu that were not only big characters within our squads, but reliable mainstays that were Premier League level. Now we either have experienced players that aren't up to Premier League level, Stephens for example, or Lallana that is up to Premier League level but can never be a mainstay in the team because he can't play more than 60 minutes and is becoming injury prone.

I agree, Lallana is probably the most technically gifted player in our squad but personally, I think the money we're paying him could have been better spent. Facilitating him means having a player in and out the starting eleven instead of a settled midfield and it also means a guaranteed and very predictable substitution.

It’s so hard to care anymore. I look at line up after line up and just wonder what’s going through his brain. Nil points here.

We all know what's happening here. Lumley will be injured, sent off early doors. Cue a one legged McCarthy.

It’s very Russ to put an injured GK on the bench. If indeed he is at all.

It’s clearly bollocks from Russ. You don’t put an o hired GK on the bench for the exact reason you mentioned.

Then again, this is Russ, so nothing would surprise me.

Yep. Lumley goes down injured in the 5th minute and we're in exactly the same situation again. We have reserve youth keepers.
