Pamplemousse Posted 25 November, 2024 Posted 25 November, 2024 The games are coming thick and fast now, can we finally get our first point away from home? Probably not. Away from home this season we've been particularly dreadful and I can't see how we get anything from this game. If it's a particularly bad defeat, can see the crowd finally turn vocally in large numbers against RM. Won't be a good look for SR, live to the entire nation. Clutching at straws but RM is from Brighton and so no doubt would love to manage them one day, so who knows maybe we're in for a surprise.
EssEffCee Posted 25 November, 2024 Posted 25 November, 2024 What happens on the pitch is largely irrelevant here as far as I'm concerned. It's in the away end where there's a victory to be won. 5
benjii Posted 25 November, 2024 Posted 25 November, 2024 Honestly, who cares. We are down. As long as we don't start getting bummed by several goals every match then nothing is going to change and we will be gearing up for Russell's promotion party part two in a year and a half. 2 2
Sheaf Saint Posted 25 November, 2024 Posted 25 November, 2024 Oh no, I didn't realise it was Friday night. I'm going to a gig this Friday so won't be able to watch. The last time this scenario happened (same venue as well) was October 2019 😐 1 3

franniesTache Posted 25 November, 2024 Posted 25 November, 2024 Probably one of the best cities in the country for pubs even if the ground is pretty far out of the city. So the good news is that when they get three we can all head back to town for a good friday night piss up in Brighton before boarding the vomit comet home. As for the game, I mean do we have to? I'm really not sure how much more of watching Martin's ponderous football i can take, it's like a special kind of torture sitting through the inevitable sideways and backwards passing, and stupid costly mistakes due to the stubborn prick thinking he's better than he is. It honestly feels like we just need putting out of our misery now and have our results wiped for the rest of the season if he's staying, i'd save a fortune and we wouldn't have to put up with the constant embarrassment every week. We Limp Down. 10

Toussaint Posted 25 November, 2024 Posted 25 November, 2024 (edited) I am going, going to every away I can whilst we remain in the premier league. I need to build up enough credit for the remaining London away days and the trip to the last ever game at Goodison. That’s my motivation, I don’t expect us to get anything from any away games. I’m not one of those who thinks it’s a forgone conclusion that we will be so “lucky” next time so I’m going to make the most of this sad and pathetic season. Watching Russball brings me little pleasure, causes me a lot of pain, but I can’t give it up because I always think it might come good. Oh well never let the football get in the way of a day out at the football right? 8 5

Zorba Posted 25 November, 2024 Posted 25 November, 2024 Is it too early for Festive songs yet? Surely we can get a bit of Slade's Merry Christmas in for our Russ.. Are you hanging on to your shitty Russball? We’re all hoping that the axe will start to fall! You just ride that red and white cash cow, (not Lucy) Sending teams out to get slayed! Why do SR keep you at Saints anyway? So, here it is Russ and Rasmus, is everybody having fun? Look to the future now, we’re heading for League one. Are you waiting for the goalfest to arrive? Are you sure you've passed enough from side to side? Does your keeper always tell ya? Sometimes long balls are the best.. As he picks the ball again out from his net? So, here it is Russ and Rasmus, is everybody having fun? Look to the future now, we’re heading for League one. Are you handing your resignation to the board? Is it time now everyone knows you're a fraud. Or will you take us down the leagues now? Into obscurity we’ll fade? But you won’t give a toss, you’ll still get paid. We're basically relegated already - which before the end of November is quite an achievement - so it's not about going down anymore, it's just about pride and at least having a go at looking like a credible Premier League football team capable of winning the odd match. But if no-one at the club cares enough to change anything about that situation and actually give us a chance of at least saving a bit of face, why should I care either. 15

coalman Posted 25 November, 2024 Posted 25 November, 2024 Lowest points total at Christmas is Sunderland with 5. Next lowest is 7. Easy 3 points in Brighton because surely someone has to get complacent eventually and we're sitting pretty.

SouSaint Posted 25 November, 2024 Posted 25 November, 2024 3-0 Brighton. Away end will turn on Martin.

We are down, no doubt about that. Our last chance of changing that outcome disappeared when SR failed to sack RM at the last international break, even then i doubt SR's ability to appoint a decent replacement. BUT it would be good to avoid the record for lowest ever points tally, which I believe stands at 12. 2
LGTL Posted 25 November, 2024 Posted 25 November, 2024 We’ll lose the same way we always lose. Predictable shit after predictable shit. I bet other PL managers cannot believe what they’re facing at times, we’re an absolute gift. Don’t care what anyone says, getting turned over by Bournemouth and Brighton is a fucking disgraceful state of affairs. 8
Holmes_and_Watson Posted 25 November, 2024 Posted 25 November, 2024 Despite the mounting casualty list, we sneak this one 1-0, from AA.

Yep, most accept we're down, that was almost accepted before the season started, but it's how we go down. It will probably be Spring before the board buckle to fan pressure which will rapidly build now and bring someone else in (hopefully with a much different game plan) but if we eventually go down fighting then that sets us up for another pop next year in the Championship (which I think many wouldn't be wholly against). Home game for 'Farmer Saint' believe he's lives near Brighton, will be interesting to hear his views of the match and from those around him - think he's said he does go to Falmer with mates so guess he'll be in a home stand.

I don't mind Ralph's two 9-0s and our record defeat record because there was always the likelihood that a game or two later, Ralph would turn it around and we'd play better/different and win. The lowest ever points tally tells another story. It tells a story of incompetence, not learning from mistakes and apathy. And if/when we get relegated, I don't expect RM to get lucky twice and get us promoted again. We've got a squad good enough to stay up, but many of the better players will disappear. The only slight hope is that we scored twice last Sunday by going forward with purpose, so come on team, ignore RM's instructions and play your own game! 2

Wade Garrett Posted 25 November, 2024 Posted 25 November, 2024 Doesn’t take a genius to predict this one. Defeat and more fucking tomfoolery at the back . Russell saying how brave we were afterwards and the board sitting on their hands again. Wouldn’t pay that lot with shirt buttons. Feel sorry for the players who are being made to look like total cunts playing RussBall. 7
Saint Fan CaM Posted 25 November, 2024 Posted 25 November, 2024 (edited) I’m sure I’m among many in anpproaching each next game with the hope that we might win or at least draw and so claim some pride and respect from the match. But even that has been stripped away - there’s no hope and it’s nailed on that Russball will provide us with a loss. I can’t imagine how the players must feel…they’re professionals and so must see more than most that whatever they’re being instructed to do is failing week after week after week. They must be confused and demoralised - it’s all their fault, despite what their esteemed boss says in the media. It must be, because nothing changes for them. How do they go into a game now actually believing they’ll win? They’re not that immune are they? My late Dads family came from Brighton - I was born there, but my parents moved us to Southampton when I was 4 for better prospects. Since the time I knew what the local pro football team was about, Saints were my ‘home’ team (untypically following my Dads choice). Naturally I like to see Brighton do well - obviously not this Friday, but Russ will do his best to ensure we hand it on a silver platter to them, selecting round pegs in square holes etc. Head : 2-0 Brighton. Heart : 2-2 Edited 25 November, 2024 by Saint Fan CaM Typo 1

Dman Posted 26 November, 2024 Posted 26 November, 2024 They're really good, we're really shit. LiberalCommunist Posted 26 November, 2024 Posted 26 November, 2024 Bha are far better than us, and this should be a cakewalk. But. Close run defeat. 2-1 would be my guess. Enough that Russell can point to some improvement somewhere that nobody else sees.

Tom57 Posted 26 November, 2024 Posted 26 November, 2024 My brother's driving us both there for this one and neither have been to the Amex before. Is it better to get the park and ride from one of the two places, or park in the city and get the train in? We'll be leaving Southampton about 4pm so I'd imagine we'll arrive in Brighton about 6:15pm to 6:45pm.
