Anyone else just really excited for game week 12 in the English premier soccerball league? The season is nearly 1/3 through and we take on Liverpool from Merseyside tomorrow in an epic tie.

We get to see Mo Salah play live and Virgil Van Dijk return to where Klopp spotted his talent to turn him into the the elite defensive line back he is today. Cannot wait to hear those great Liverpool fans sing their “youll never walk alone” anthem round our stadium. Let’s hope it’s a good fight from us and we can achieve our goal of more possession than the mighty reds!

LETS GO SOUTHAMPTON SAINTS!!!

Stoked to the max!

It could only be more awesome if I could then relive the game with a never ending Netflix series.

I’m so excited, I just can’t hide it, I’m about to lose control and I just can’t fight it. But I have a nagging doubt we aren’t going to make the cut for the superbowl/ World Series 😞

One can only imagine it would be a lot like the FYRE documentary.

Not a chance to make the playoffs. But if we finish bottom we will get the first draft pick.

Had to chuckle listening to the news on the radio earlier, they claimed tomorrow marks the start of a tough run of fixtures for Liverpool.

Weather is gonna be shite, don’t envy anyone going to the game. Easy 0-4 away win.

Normally think crap weather is a leveller but that's when the teams are a little mismatched. The gulf between us and them is so mismatched that the weather won't make much difference. They'll win 2/0 or 3/0.

It’s hard to decide who will win the important possession stats, but expect it will be a game of two halves - we’ll keep the ball in the defensive third, they’ll keep the ball in the attacking third.

The weather will definitely be a leveller. We won't be able to play our normal game and that will affect us, we'll give it away a lot more. I would say we'd win easily but with the weather I'd say we'll probably lose 54% to 46%.

Just seen this. A respectful opening post about us

Yeah, decent post. Another poster said "I remember going to the Dell in 1970...I remember that you could walk all the way around the inside the ground with no segregation anywhere" - well, I started going the following season and you certainly couldn't move from any of the stands to another and that never changed until the day it was pulled down and I can't see how it would ever have been possible before. One for the real old-timers to confirm.

His memory must be of another ground. You're right: you could never do that at the Dell, and I was there when we played Liverpool in 1970.

I'll be thinking of Iron Maiden,  Hallowed be Thy name, during the game.

Cause at 5 o'clock, they take me to the Gallows Pole
The sands of time for me are running low
Running low, yeah!

Ok 5 o'clock for 3pm ko.

Fair play to that Scouser, very insightful and he knows his history. Obviously he enjoyed the times when we beat Utd!

This post on that thread caught my eye:

Will be a weird game with Southampton potentially out-possessioning us. We just need to be patient and wait for them to fuck up when they're in "pass the ball around with no real intent" mode.

You don't have to be patient mate, it'll happen very soon (and often) after kick off.

Ring Liverpool's hotel and let them know, see if fall for it like we did at Reading in the 90s

(Was meant to reply to post about game called off)

I thought I saw a post earlier saying the match was off?

If it’s not, we could all just agree it’s not happening and make no further reference to it, ever?

You certainly could make your way around the ground if you were prepared to hop over a lowish wall in each corner, Spurs fans were well known for having a group making their way around the ground in single file, occasionally skirmishing with any Saints fan who objected.

Another example, in early 1970s I was standing in the corner of Milton Rd and loads of hard core looking Wolves fans were pushing past to get over a wall into lower East Stand, we thought we were in trouble but one of them said "excuse us lads" (we were only young boys!).

One positive.
After they tonk us by eight today. They might take pity and play their u14s girls team against us in the cup later on

I fear today's game may be like a 27-year-old Mike Tyson fighting a 58-year-old YouTuber.

Look on the bright side. Perhaps the gusty conditions will prove to be a leveller.

In which they'll only tonk us by four ...

I don’t ever wish us to lose, but if we must (nailed on) then I hope it’s big, like 0-8, the board cannot ignore that, can they?

Different board I know but Ralph survived two 9-0s!

If Martin was going to get sacked then we surely would be done it during the international break. An expected loss to Liverpool is unlikely to make any difference.

Yes, I'm a real old timer...first match was in wartime, aged 8 and I haven't missed many since. The only segregation I remember in the early days was in the '

'Boys Block' (Milton Road end, corner close to East stand) once in, there was no way out. It cost sixpence. They obviously didn't expect any girls, it was definitely 'Boys Block'. I expect they'd be in Court for that discrimination today.

I always do hope Saints win. But the worst case is another 0-1 or 0-2 where Russell’s fluffers get to claim the referee cheated etc when Allison has read his Kindle all match and Liverpool meander along in first gear with Slot patting Russell’s head after the game.

Mind you, look what’s happened to the last big name manager who did that! He learned something alright - how to lose and and totally fold.

No, the worst case is 4/5-0 or worse thumping where our GD takes an absolute hammering. Some people need to get over this fantasy that we need a seven or eight goal thumping, so that we’d be forced to sack Russ and someone like Moyes can come in and 1-0 us to safety with 31% possession. People said all this stuff about Ralph two years ago, almost rejoicing in that 1-4 against Newcastle because it looked like we’d finally be forced to sack him. Look how that panned out.

Irrelevant comparison.

RM ain't Ralph.

Moyes ain't Jones.
