Thing is, our defence should be made up consistently of our best defenders… KWP/Suga, Taylor, ABK, KWP/Bree. If Russ had got that combo working together earlier I reckon we’d have a good solid defence. As it is he still persists with his favourites, playing players out of position and switching them around, so no wonder it’s a shambles.

Whatever, L’Pool are still going to spank us 5 or 6 to nil.

Taylor seems to have been frozen out which seems odd. I agree though, he's a better option. Bree at RCB is less scary than Wood, and that says a lot.

A 2-0 win for us.

A forward thinking Liverpool gets undone by a auto passing move that goes from deep to AA who tucks it in.

We miss a second chance to do the same, leading to a nervy game. But THB gets a late set pieces header to seal the points.

Worst case

I read that Liverpool eased off once the win is secured under this manager. So, a plucky defeat is possible. But even with this scenario, we sneak a draw with that late THB header.

Whatever the scenario, Lallana is fined a week's wages. Not for exchanging shirts with Liverpool. But on insisting THB then tries it on, to see how it feels.

My son is playing at 12 KO, so even if he plays just 1st half then we try to get from Totton through Southampton's world class traffic congestion the game could be 5-0 when we get in ground.

No trains again and bus last time took 1 hour to get from station to Cumberland place. So not looking forward to this match on all fronts.

I think you know exactly where I was going with this you just decided to evade the debate by picking apart the made up scenarios ..

let’s make it clearer.  You want us to beat Liverpool right if you get your wish this will absolutely hundred buy Martin more time in charge maybe.not the exaggerated 3 months I said earlier but would probably lock him in for the whole of December at least .. he will now have two wins out of his last 3 games including a huge scalp in Liverpool .wankersion and his cronies will be feeling bullish and that his patience in him is starting to pay off    this in turn is exactly what I mean by papering over cracks ..if you don’t think Martin getting a extended run is papering over the cracks then maybe you also think he has a shot of turning it around ?

me on the other hand  Sure I’d take a Liverpool beat down if that means getting to the root cause of our problems .. there Is a bigger picture here.. a Martin win just buys him more time and Stops the board  doing what they need to do   Also gotta factor in the more cut off and behind we get it’s gonna be getting harder and harder with every loss we rack up to attract a decent replacement .. it’s kinda key to any hope we have of surviving that the board move before it’s totally over 

we both wish well for saints but sometimes you have to hit bottom to heel I just cannot agree that anything delaying martins  sacking is good for our season anymore

You're correct - if we win he will 100% keep his job all through December, and at that point the January window opens so he's staying for the whole season.

Even if we lose they are not sacking him. Personally I am resigned to it now.

Just to say that this is the test for the "chopping and changing doesn't work" and "he just needs time" boys who, if it was down go them, no manager would ever get sacked. Because every manager becomes Lawrie Mac or Alex Ferguson just by staying in post for a long time.

Well this season I think they are getting that wish so we can all reap the glorious benefits. Chopping and changing never ever works but leaving managers in post always works. I look forward to the glory.

The lallana move always had more to it then just signing him as a player,he could easily be in the ear of the board all the time they would know if he wants he or not. if they are grooming him his as a successor there’s not so much need to panic with Martin.. that’s about the theory I can make with any sense how Martin is still here actually

Picking up on the Lallana part - and hypothetically how it might work : 

 

IF (and I think my views on this are well known!😁) RM is relieved and AL is asked to step in as caretaker it would /should probably / almost certainly be with an old hand helping him - or vice versa ( him as right hand man to an older gaffer - funnily enough Roma just doing exactly this …with Ranieri) as this is a relegation battle and hardly anyone decent AND experienced is gonna want to buy a almost guaranteed ticket to the Championship - and heap the iginomy of relegation to their resume. Unless there’s a big wad involved and they are past all that ego stuff of younger managers. 

Names like RVN are just nonsense imo. And I think Moyes would not take it either even though he’s about the best available out there. Or Southgate eeek! 

A short term deal basically. Not saying Redknapp age but you know the type I mean. Possibly battlescarred enough to play whatever football is required but no expectation of staying up. This foretells Probably an ugly end to the season with no style of play apparent just changing from match to match on a pragmatic basis according to the opposition. Many here argue we will have an even uglier end to season if we don’t change manager. Thats not my view btw. 😂. Nothing wrong with that pragmatic approach either.Its just not been the pathway of last 16 months There are plenty ways to play football.

If and when we go down then the Board can assess whether to make the Lallana appointment permanent - or not. And whether to keep old gaffer- or not. 
 

But if you asked me to pick a Manager who knows how to get out the Championship and knows our players inside out and already has their commitment and buy in despite what’s happening at present in EPL - I’d say probably the best ( and most cost effective - that IS important to the biz front forget ) is to keep RM. If he goes second best is Moyes with AL on a short term til end season deal and then review.

How do you think we shall ever be competitive in the EPL by playing unadulterated Russball, which results in few goals (for us), with players who are nowhere near as good as those in up to 19 other teams who play less extreme PB football complemented by variations of playing style that lead to goals (for them) being scored?  We shall always be behind, doing our walking-pace version of chasing every game, and no more competitive as we are now.  I cannot fathom how you believe we can do it.
