What excuse did he need? He could’ve started the first game and it would’ve been fair as he’d been our LB most of last season. We’ve been decent in every game since he came back into the team, so why would he drop him?

Look Mr.Manning, I appreciate you sticking up for your son, but he’s not good enough for the Premier League, hell he was barely good enough for the Championship.

Manning who got binned from the squad entirely until 4 games ago, not even making appearances in the cup? yeah he’s completely undroppable!

Martin was running out of bodies to chuck into the starting eleven.

Unsurprisingly, we have made the most unforced errors leading to goals in the league

But it’s the process, something something, brave…

I’m amazed he made a PL appearance, I was sure he’d be let go in the summer back to a Championship team, especially after being bombed from the first few squads.

But your suggestion that he plays because he’s Russ’ mate is utter, utter bollocks.

an easy win for Wolves i'm afraid. We concede far too many goals and struggle massively to score. Wolves are a much better side than us and i just cannot see them failing to get their first league win of the season.

Unless Martin wins today, he should go. Our first half performance last week was disappointing, and yet he's sticking with the same lineup. Manning was poor, Stephens was ineffective, and Dibbling’s been dropped to the bench in favor of Armstrong—hardly an inspired decision. If things don’t improve, the board needs to take action and prevent us from continuing to stumble through the season.

Is it though? Is it really?

He would not get in any other premier league side, that much I would bet my life on. He was a liability last season and his “defending” cost us a number of times.

Russ is too close to some of this squad, that much is clear for anyone to see, and it’s clear Manning is “one of the boys”.

if you’re happy to accept such mediocrity representing us at left back that’s an opinion you’re welcome to, but for me as someone that has spent their years watching the likes of Bridge, Bale, Shaw and Bertrand in that position I’m entitled to the opinion that Ryan Manning is shit, and if that’s level we aspire to then don’t expect much from this football club.

The stats back Manning, he has the highest xA at the club, most key passes per game, and he takes a good corner. He is the best crosser of the ball at the club.  Not sure why people dont rate him, he is pretty reliable, just being scapegoated. He would get in plenty of lower half prem teams and will serve us well next year in the championship.

Which would be great if he was a winger.

I fear O’Neill will have worked out how to beat us. Still a little bit optimistic though but don’t think RM will react if doesn’t start well.

Palace have a severely weakened squad for their game against Fulham today. So you'd expect them to lose.

If we could sneak a win against Wolves, then it'd only be goal difference keeping us in the relegation places

He WAS Championship left back of the year the season before we signed him tbf.

Right. Manning was binned off by Martin even in the Championship, so quite why he has suddenly been deemed good enough to start in the PL is a mystery. Bit of a clue though, it's not because of any of the reasons you stated.

We could win 20-0 and people will be calling for him to be sacked.

We could win the Premier League and that HQSaints account on Twitter will be saying “he hasn’t done enough”. 😂

Scrappy 1-1, not confident about winning, this will be cagey until one team makes a strong counter attack.

Stephens and Manning🙄

Those 2 don’t start in any other premier league team..

clueless

Stephens has been fine since he came back after suspension. The vendetta against him our fans have is even weirder than Martin's insistence on starting him. He was probably our best player against the best team in the world 2 weeks ago. Yet the God-awful Bednerak gets away with it week in week out.

Spot on. I genuinely wish the Poch/Koeman years hadn't happened because they've totally ruined this fanbase. Literally nothing is ever good enough anymore. Which makes it harder to get behind when it actually ISN'T good enough - ie most of this season.

In Bangkok for this one. The omens aren't good.

Last couple of Saints games I've watched out here: Chelsea when they destroyed us a couple of seasons back, and , umm.......Wolves when they put us to the sword.

Decision time: do I watch the game, or go to Nana and watch groups of scantily-clad young ladies jiggling their bits around?

Too late for a poll?

All Wolves will have to do is press high and they’ll take the lead. If Wolves score early it’ll be game over as we won’t pressure them back.

If Saints take the lead, it’ll open up because Wolves will have to fling bodies forward and we are semi-competent at counter attacking.

He wasn’t but hey ho.

We have fullbacks so we shouldn’t be playing our 4th best centre back there, we know it is all about Martins mates

Players not good enough to follow our genius managers instructions.

Great memories of course but it's given the fanbase a complex.

If Bednarek or THB had had an identical game there'd be petitions for them to be knighted. As far as the bulk of our fans go there are two types of players: Players who can do no right and players who can do no wrong.

And then one of the worst

Not sure about that. He was average and nowhere near as good as we thought he would be but certainly not one of the worst.
