Everton hit the woodwork had more shots on goal than us and generally looked more threatening than us, they missed a lot of chances and we got lucky with a marginal offside.... A wins a win but it showed how clueless Martin is... It's three points I never thought we'd get though!

They'll be fumin' that they've managed to lose to a team as shit as us.

And rightly so. We got very lucky, all things considered.

I guess a win is a win but we're so hard to watch. We won through serious amounts of luck and in spite of Martin, not because of anything he did today.

Good performance

It really wasn't. We were piss poor and rode our luck more tgan once. Even our goal was a scuff shot that 9/10 would have been saved or pinged off a defender.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy we won. But let's not pretend that this result doesn't just paper over the cracks. We didn't win because we fully deserved to, so I can't agree that it was in any way a 'good' performance.

RM will want to know why his players ignored his instructions and broke quickly upfield to score right after Everton hit the bar.

This is the point - the team were far more effective in the second half when they moved the ball quicker. It’s so fucking obvious too. When we go back into the slow shit, we’re ponderous and at constant risk of conceding without a strong Romeu/Victor/Morgan to protect the defence.

Fucking get in, first win in over 5 months. Gotta win at Wolves next week now

not chance if we play like that, Lady Luck won’t smile that often.  Nice to get a win and get that monkey of our backs but only the manager will pretend it was a good performance!

That never looked off side. Did they put the line on the wrong attacker?

Not sure what you were watching but the angle they showed on my stream made it look transparently obvious he was off.

Having Dibling and Fernandes on the pitch together at the same time is massive for us. As is KWP and Sugawara. Thats the reality. A lot of our players don't have the technical and attacking quality to fluidly threaten at the top end, and equally the confidence is low... If players are lacking both ability and confidence they're on a hiding to nothing. Hopefully we can get a win at Wolves and we'll at least tackle the confidence side of things.

A win!

A very nice goal to get it too. We're at our best when we get to use that crisp passing to stretch the game. But we so often pass it back before it gets near those positions, we see little of it.

Aribo on for Lallana a decent move. Adam was the first to start giving the ball away and struggle defensively.

The second half showed a lot more of that. We made a lot of unforced errors. Not for the first time we don't look fit enough at this level.

Dibling on for Manning was a good attacking substitution. We suddenly had directness and spark.

Les and TP coming on late were meh changes. Fernandes and Archer had done well. We did nothing to use TP's height and Les had looked off the pace v Stoke.

We lacked any penetration for a lot of that half, with Everton just waiting for our errors.

Our goal came right after Beto hit the bar. A minute after our goal he had the ball on the net again. KWP unknowingly just making him offside.

Ramsdale had to make a couple of very good saves elsewhere in the game.

Great to get some points. But it's a game you'd be looking to win, and we struggled to get it.

Agreed. One of the most blatant "tight" offsides you could get. What really through me was when the red line was drawn beyond the blue line and i thought they'd give it... a bad choice of colours to indicate the attacker was offisde. 🤮

Fully agree, I know he had a shocker v Stoke but Cornet needs more minutes as if we can get him fit and back to his Burnley and Lyon form, he’ll be another to add to the fluidity and athleticism.

We will dominate the game. Passing will be out of this world. Possession stats will be the stuff of (wet) dreams.

Tall Paul hatrick in a 5-0 spanking for the toffees. Stick that in your dugout.

COYR.

Everyone laughed!

But I predicted a win and a clean sheet. 2 out of 3 ain't bad ;)

Agreed, and I was about to lambast the performance but gathered if we don’t enjoy winning today then there probably won’t be many more chances to this season.

Could have gone either way but maybe we were due a bit of luck after the deflected Ipswich equaliser. Not the greatest game or performance but we did at least move it forward quickly at times in that second half which created opportunities.

Positives: enjoyed Fernandes's performance, looks a really decent signing for his age. 2 in 2 for Arma and an absolute worldy from Ramsdale.

I can't agree with this - it was a well struck shot and Pickford had no chance - credit where it's due.

I didn't watch the game against City last week and instead spent the afternoon with the wife. Watched the midweek Cup game and wished i had been with the wife instead. (She was in Liverpool on a works jolly)

At the moment i'm leaning towards spending the afternoon with the wife again tomorrow.

Did you make the right decision in the end?
