Polaroid Saint Posted 2 November, 2024 Posted 2 November, 2024 Well. Replacing serial loser (BBD) with player of previous season (AA) and we done a win. Football Management eh?
NewYorkSaint Posted 2 November, 2024 Posted 2 November, 2024 Oh Lady Luck. You've been so unkind to us for much of the season. Today... I thank you, more than I can say. 5
vectraman Posted 2 November, 2024 Posted 2 November, 2024 Well done Saints. A win. Take it happily. 😍 1
Mr X Posted 2 November, 2024 Posted 2 November, 2024 Everton hit the woodwork had more shots on goal than us and generally looked more threatening than us, they missed a lot of chances and we got lucky with a marginal offside.... A wins a win but it showed how clueless Martin is... It's three points I never thought we'd get though! 6 1
CB Fry Posted 2 November, 2024 Posted 2 November, 2024 Fantastic stuff Huge well done to the team on the pitch especially Adam Armstrong. 6
pingpong Posted 2 November, 2024 Posted 2 November, 2024 Good performance, 3 pts. Great goal. Think people on here need to realise, every point is a scrap for a team like ours, we are back on track for the 13pts total we need, COYR! 2
trousers Posted 2 November, 2024 Posted 2 November, 2024 (edited) A Palace Wolves draw would be handy later... (Yes, I know it doesn't matter because we're already down anyway... ) Edited 2 November, 2024 by trousers
Turkish Posted 2 November, 2024 Posted 2 November, 2024 Now we’ve got that win we will FLY up the table even better news is that today was our tenth game so we are now fully adapted to the premier league we are 4 points ahead of schedule

We got very lucky, all things considered. I guess a win is a win but we're so hard to watch. We won through serious amounts of luck and in spite of Martin, not because of anything he did today. 5
OttawaSaint Posted 2 November, 2024 Posted 2 November, 2024 Martin goes level with Saints legend Nathan Jones! 2
captainchris Posted 2 November, 2024 Posted 2 November, 2024 Shocking performance, we were bloody lucky! 6

Even our goal was a scuff shot that 9/10 would have been saved or pinged off a defender. Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy we won. But let's not pretend that this result doesn't just paper over the cracks. We didn't win because we fully deserved to, so I can't agree that it was in any way a 'good' performance. 9

This is the point - the team were far more effective in the second half when they moved the ball quicker. It’s so fucking obvious too. When we go back into the slow shit, we’re ponderous and at constant risk of conceding without a strong Romeu/Victor/Morgan to protect the defence. 3

Lighthouse Posted 2 November, 2024 Posted 2 November, 2024 Great to get that monkey off our back. Hopefully we can build a little bit of momentum and belief from back to back wins and get a result at Wolves. 5

Having Dibling and Fernandes on the pitch together at the same time is massive for us. As is KWP and Sugawara. Thats the reality. A lot of our players don't have the technical and attacking quality to fluidly threaten at the top end, and equally the confidence is low... If players are lacking both ability and confidence they're on a hiding to nothing. Hopefully we can get a win at Wolves and we'll at least tackle the confidence side of things. 2

Holmes_and_Watson Posted 2 November, 2024 Posted 2 November, 2024 A win! A very nice goal to get it too. We're at our best when we get to use that crisp passing to stretch the game. But we so often pass it back before it gets near those positions, we see little of it. Aribo on for Lallana a decent move. Adam was the first to start giving the ball away and struggle defensively. The second half showed a lot more of that. We made a lot of unforced errors. Not for the first time we don't look fit enough at this level. Dibling on for Manning was a good attacking substitution. We suddenly had directness and spark. Les and TP coming on late were meh changes. Fernandes and Archer had done well. We did nothing to use TP's height and Les had looked off the pace v Stoke. We lacked any penetration for a lot of that half, with Everton just waiting for our errors. Our goal came right after Beto hit the bar. A minute after our goal he had the ball on the net again. KWP unknowingly just making him offside. Ramsdale had to make a couple of very good saves elsewhere in the game. Great to get some points. But it's a game you'd be looking to win, and we struggled to get it. 2

Agreed. One of the most blatant "tight" offsides you could get. What really through me was when the red line was drawn beyond the blue line and i thought they'd give it... a bad choice of colours to indicate the attacker was offisde. 🤮

Fully agree, I know he had a shocker v Stoke but Cornet needs more minutes as if we can get him fit and back to his Burnley and Lyon form, he’ll be another to add to the fluidity and athleticism. 1

Lighthouse Posted 2 November, 2024 Posted 2 November, 2024 We didn’t ‘deserve’ nothing from how we played at Newcastle, Utd, Leicester, Arsenal and City but that’s exactly what we got. That’s football, I’ll take a less than glorious 1-0 win any day. 9 1

jasonbenali Posted 2 November, 2024 Posted 2 November, 2024 Could have gone either way but maybe we were due a bit of luck after the deflected Ipswich equaliser. Not the greatest game or performance but we did at least move it forward quickly at times in that second half which created opportunities. Positives: enjoyed Fernandes's performance, looks a really decent signing for his age. 2 in 2 for Arma and an absolute worldy from Ramsdale. 1

Mr Brightside Posted 2 November, 2024 Posted 2 November, 2024 Rode our luck obviously, but we’ve had none so far so were due some. Not a great performance, but not terrible either. Dont really care, just so pleased with the win. 6
