Massive game for us.

We need Lallana from the start for this and hope he can make the difference in the 60 odd minutes we'll have him for, whilst the dugout heroes settle into a low block.  I know Jack being available may not be palatable to some but he does give us the option of going 3 at the back and push KWP and (probably) Manning higher up the pitch.  If not then the central pairing of THB and Jan has looked ok.  Downes in the 6, Adam L and Matteus in the 8s. 

The front 3 is tricky.  Tyler looked like he needed a rest in the last couple of league games but if Lallana starts then their link up could be the key to unlocking Everton's defence.  If not Adam A will "do a job' I thought his decision making was poor on Tuesday after getting into some great positions.  Archer down the middle and fuck knows wide left, if only my calf wasn't a bit tight...

I always said I'd give Russell 10 games before getting off the fence, and here we are.... I wonder which way trousers will fall....?

I presume you mean 10 league games?

What is the criteria for making a decision about which way you will fall… possession > %50, more than 0 points gained, a beautifully brave display by the players, Stephens and Manning on the bench, or a combo of all those?

I'm on a fence about this too. Win and get the desperately needed three points, RM will feel vindicated and able to carry on with his turgid style of football, lose and it might just be goodbye.

I really don't know what I'm hoping for the most.

If it goes to shit on Saturday (likely) and if the fans turn then I think even our bunch of brainless twat board members would be forced into making a change.

It's hard to imagine SR actually being so invested in/aligned to RM's approach and a 10 year plan (possibly following it), that they wouldn't make the changes if we get well beaten in the next 2.

They were supposedly invested in Ralph's system and had looked at Nathan over a long period before bringing him in.

They could follow a Brighton data approach. Where they could see where they needed to improve, and work on that confident the results would come. Martin will no doubt have pointed out finishing (note: from not many chances) and individual errors (note:within his system). The large squad, recruitment and resources will have played their part on expectations too.

Having gone through managers to get to here, are they wanting to follow another cycle of it? Do they really have confidence their hiring approach is going to keep us in the PL this time, when it's not worked at all so far

I still think they got interested when RalphBall was going well, they heard about the playbook, and knew Gao wasn't investing and looking for a sale.

They thought that they could come in, implement their ideas of getting on the cusp players from elite clubs, with some Brentford like signings and thrive in the PL.

They hadn't paid enough attention to when RalphBall went wrong, and even with best of intentions, haven't done at all well in dealing with much since.

I've just heard from Sean! He says he's got a great plan for Saturday. As he doesn't have to worry about us scoring his instruction is pass it to a Saints player so they take it back into their own penalty area then press. He reckons they should benefit from at least double the number of usual mistakes.

Interesting, perhaps, that on several occasions he talks about the difference between his players beng "fit" and "Premier League fit".... maybe we've got too many players in the former category rather than the latter...?

I really wouldn't be so sure about that.

Best just bet on another defeat rather than this useless board doing anything.

I'll be late getting in for this game, so go 2-1 Saints win with Everton scoring in 3 mins. We will get a late goal 96th min.

Everton probably better in all positions than us so it's a case if we gave to one win at least and this is the best chance!!

Pretty much how I see it. Nervy match for both I’m sure!

On a side note:  I really cannot believe what I’ve seen from BBD and MC. And RF!
Apart from that goal v Lazio and getting the barstripe guy off, the Left Wing has made almost no contributions this season and has done exactly the same things every time on the pitch, NOT AN UPGRADE ON Sam E verdict after 8/9 matches I’d say with some conviction! 

1. BBD - get passed the ball on the left wing, try to control it then pass it back to left mid or centre mid. Stop moving, have a fag, job done for this half. 
2. MC is even better as he has not scored preseason nor got a guy sent off - his touches have been - get passed the ball on the left wing, try to control it then pass it back to left mid or centre mid. Stop moving have a fag job done for this half. Oh I forgot occasionally he does this : get passed the ball on the left wing, stand up the right back, kick the ball against his legs and hope it’s a nutmeg, as it isn’t stop moving have a fag,  job done for this half. 
3. RF: this one is a good variation because his job is to try to win the aerial battle with his taller right back, three or four times in when Aaron delivers a 60 yard high pass, Right to left, to try and “ catch out” the opposition defence by pumping it long instead of the 12 passes in the six yard box game. Fails every time of course. His other job is to make “ darting runs” but he is not allowed to beat his player for pace or skills as that’s a fine. When he is asked to defend it’s exciting, but oh dear he’s a forward not a full back. Ask Vardy. 🤭

I had to think for a minute as to who MC was although I came to the conclusion that I _have_ seen him play. He actually ended up on the right in the last game, if I remember correctly, although wouldn't be surprised if I wasn't...

I expect to lose 0-2, but to be honest that's an irrelevant statistic. What's matters is possession stats, I'm looking at 70-75%; and attitude, I thinking 'brave'.

I didn't watch the game against City last week and instead spent the afternoon with the wife. Watched the midweek Cup game and wished i had been with the wife instead. (She was in Liverpool on a works jolly)

At the moment i'm leaning towards spending the afternoon with the wife again tomorrow.

All the business score card goals will be red, except for RA’s as winning matches is an illusion. 
 

Back to reality and the match, I’m thinking we’ll get that draw to double our points tally, I’m being brave.
