Perhaps the injuries to Cap’n Jack and THB are serious?

Can't imagine the club have evaluated the injuries and made a decision to get a loan in all within a couple of hours of the game.

Imagine the plan was for new guy to come in to be the left side centre back with THB going over to the RCB in place of Bree.

Jesus, someone get him a sandwich and shut him up.

Interested to see if he actually is any good as a CB, as I hardly remember him playing when he was with us, and when he did it was out of position at RB.

I know but it is an odd one, seemingly coming out of the blue at this late hour. Not something we would have expected if all the CBs were fully fit.

Who had Feb 2nd on the Danny Ings transfer rumour bingo?

Not that I'm against us bringing in a striker but Ings over Archer? I'd rather stick with Archer. Ings' day came and went, I'd be very surprised if he joined us and made a similar impact.

FFP tickbox for Saints selling an academy product.

Shame, thought he looked decent in his albeit limited run outs.

There is clearly an issue, or at least one the coaches at Saints can see and we are bemused by. On the few times I've seen him play he has looked decent. Problem is he is lightweight and maybe they think he simply can't physically compete. Personally I think that's nonsense, there are plenty of smaller players who make the grade. I reckon this is more about the money. A very disappointing deal.

The Amo-Ameyaw and Meghoma deals are like Saints only understand half of the Chelsea model. We find talented kids then fail to loan them out and barely recoup the money for them having left them to rot in the reserves. Disappointing.

Would be good if the club came out and explained this sale.

is it cos we need to sell for ffp reasons? Did Sam want to leave?

I know he’s been around the first team squad for 2 seasons now and not managed to break through but I think we all assumed he’d go out on loan and get some games ready to play next season in the championship with us.

Seriously worried now that whoever is making football decisions hasn’t a clue.
SAA is a very promising player who hasn’t been given a fair crack of the whip. Unless someone knows something this does not add up to a sensible move.

Think it's fairly obvious by now

Lots of assumptions being made here, and plenty of people willing to use this as a stick to beat SR with, without knowing all (or, indeed, any) of the facts.

SAA does look very promising, but he might have made it clear that he doesn't want to stay. We might well have got a higher fee if he had stayed for a few more years and maybe had a successful loan spell or two, but we simply don't know the full circumstances here.

€10m pure profit from a FFP perspective may well turn out to be good business in the long run.

Rubbish. Looked decent against Cardiff earlier in the season and could have been an asset next season, certainly causes more problems than a lot of our other wing options, who can't take a man on.

So, that's now Morgan, Doyle, Meghoma, Alleyne, Gomes-Rodriguez, Miles and now SAA who were all rated in the academy and left without making an impact on the first team under SR with the Bath Academy also being shut down. We were lucky Dibling came back. It's a shame.

lets be honest, none of us know the reason for this sale. The lad may have made it known he had no wish to play in the Championship and fancied a complete change of scenery. I don't know how much any of you think SAA is worth but i havent seen clubs queueing up to buy him from us. It's easy to have a pop at the club because everything has been shit this season but until we hear why this is happening i'm prepared to wait before i judge!

Yep. If we lose nearly all our games and sell nearly all our promising young players, it does raise quite a profound philosophical question: What’s the fucking point?

Hopefully with a Man City sized future fee percentage of anything north of 40% added on that amount.........you would hope..

Is there a club which caves and bends over backwards to conform to players wishes more than us, do you reckon?

City do it, but they can afford to.

These players are under contract, they don't have to want to play - they just have to do it.

Although it's a €10m total package. Very much doubt we will see all of that.

Yes SAA has promise, but £7m plus add ons is decent money for someone aged 18 who has never done it at top level.  We have so many other options in wide positions, especially when Edozie comes back, and I don’t see how he fits the high energy game Juric wants.

We do need to bring money in as well as spend some and our squad size is huge.

Getting Jankewitz vibes with this one. A young player who showed lots of promise, but ultimately the club decided to cash in. Many fans were annoyed at the time but it never worked out for the fella. Hope for SAA's career sake he does well.

I would hope that Juric has had a say on this. Also worth remembering that we have Edozie back in the summer

Wow i guess you are really upset and not thinking logically about this!?

Let me sell the club model to you, we attract young potential that maybe could sign for far better teams than us but we assure them that when another club comes knocking we wont stand in their way, providing there is profit in it for us...........now how many players do you think would still sign for us if they saw a club that says "no fuck off you are not moving you are contracted"

Lets se how that would play out for a club like Saints!

It's very hard to comment with "full knowledge of the facts" because in recent months SD don't seem too keen on keeping the fan base up to speed.

Yes there might be a reason why someone at SMS thinks SAA not worth keeping but I am damned if I can see the logic because to my weary eyes, he is young, promising and he has not been given a decent run in the side for a very long time. To me he looks a better prospect than Edozie and I'd rather see him the squad than Fraser. This decision - while there may be extenuating circumstances (pray tell us) - is baffling and undermines confidence in those currently taking footballing decisions.

Devil's advocate...

Only one year left on his contract (which impacts price) and he wants game time. He has been given the opportunity to join the Chelsea eco-system, which may see him get a return to London if things go well (very well).

The club model doesn't work. That's what I'm upset about.

If you bend over for every player, you become a destination for players looking for a shortcut to the top - as we've found out in recent years.

Palace, Villa, Brentford, Forest, Fulham, even Newcastle - all these clubs have made names as places where you can get to the top IF you can put in top performances year-on-year and bring success to the place who actually took the gamble of bringing you in.

In Meghoma and SAA we spent £1m on youngsters we sold for £12m - £20m if Add ons are met.

Strikes me they both left Tottenham at 16 as were keen to fast track to the top, so probably agitated to move from us when that didn't happen instantly and wouldn't sign extensions.

Yeah we will waste this money probably, but in isolation not something we could fully control and a tidy profit on players we already nicked at age 16.

Yeah, it's worse because you just have no faith in them to invest any money made wisely.

These two and some others of similar age around that time were stitched up by the fact that they signed for a club relatively settled in the PL and was making a niche for itself in giving young players an opportunity and then immediately has found itself in a relegation fight, promotion fight and relegation fight again. Not an environment they were expecting I imagine and only a sublime talent and physical beast for his age in Dibling has managed to survive.

Jankewitz, wow I completely forgot about him! There was a time he was linked with bigger clubs and then his career obviously never went the way of the Ballon d’Or. 😂

Well that sucks, always thought he looked promising.

Strasbourg though, I wonder if related to the Sylla deal. Anyway still looks like a back door to Chelsea getting him long term if he’s a success.

Really decimating the double barrelled names too, KWP and probably ABK off soon leaves Taylor if he stays. Oh and O’Brien-Whitmarsh.

SAA's lack of progress the last couple of seasons is a bit of a head-scratcher, although somewhat unsurprising given  the club doesn't tend to keep fans in the loop on young player development progress these days. (Nor are our local journos seemingly too keen on finding out...)

If I remember correctly, SAA had a really good pre-season last summer, playing in most games and getting good write-ups. And then he disappeared, almost without trace.

Hey ho... We stumble on...

You haven’t mentioned it, but Joe Shields.
