I wonder what price this forum settles on as being acceptable? Lavia went for €62m (according to transfermarkt). Not sure anyone had any complaints about that figure. Some were less happy about the final JWP price

the difference will be Diblings transfer will be pure profit. Lavia we paid £10m (?) for plus Man City had a sell on fee of 20% so we probably made netted out about £30m. if we sold Dibling for that i expect most on here would be thumping at their keyboards that we SOLD HIM TOO CHEAP, when actually it would work out the same sort of profit as Lavia which people were happy with.

You may be right but as he’s from Exeter he seems to have settled in Southampton OK, 120 miles away from home.

Maybe he just wasn’t ready for Chelsea at 15/16.

You know the funny thing? I'm on spectrum myself and have always recognised similar traits. 

If he is so be it!  exceptional footballer! But we can't all be extroverted and I relate wholeheartedly I find change scary and get massively overwhelmed.

Equally, they could pass up the option, but come back to us with an offer of £4m...and we then make a loss of £3m. The £10m option counts for shit really unless there is a number of other suitors willing to spend more. Obviously we could turn down the £4m offer, but we would then get a player back we don't want.

Why, having been relegated to the Championship, would we sell a half decent Championship goal scorer for a significant loss on what we paid for him? £10m looks about right to me.

Or Sheff Utd could try and offload another of their prolific goal scorers to us, the legend that is Rhian Brewster. *
 

They've seen us sign BBD and Archer, so might be gullible enough to accept the backstory of Brewsters great still to be fulfilled potential.

Not great numbers but always looked dangerous when I’ve watched him. Think Enciso and Philogene improve them. Out of the promoted sides they are the ones with a chance to beat the drop.

Mad that once Taylor goes, 4 of our summer signings will have left by the January. Can argue it was a likely path for Edwards but pretty damning overall.

You really have to wonder what future,if any, for the Academy.

Sports Republic will probably view it as an unnecessary cost. Completely wrong in my view, it should be seen as vital to a club like us.

Even Rupert Lowe was supportive of bringing home grown players through.

Totally missed this. Is Taylor off? Thought he was the least of our worries really. Problem was he was a defender who tried to defend first rather than pass it about.

Looks like a great prospect, and unlike some of the others we've tried to bring through, looks like he'll have the physicality to make the step up to mens football. Didn't we only sign him this summer? Would be surprised if (unless loaned out) he didnt feature the first team squad for us next season.

Speaking to a mate of mine who is a Hull fan, he reckoned Edwards was a class act for QPR in their game v Hull last night.
Feel a bit sorry for Taylor as he was out in the cold with Russball and presumably is now third in line after Manning and Welington and possibly fourth (for the moment) with KWP able to fill in there too.

As someone else pointed out, its'not surprising nearly all of those brought did not work out as they were not suited to a possession-based game, however the fact that Juric doesnt seem to fancy them either points to them simply not being up to it.

No idea. The fact he was available on a free and we were the only Prem side that wanted him tells you he's probably a championship level player. Who the hell wamts a fullback without pace. I think Dan Burn is about the only player I have seen in years to do a job and even he got exposed sometimes.

Sounds promising. He was so highly regarded as a League 1 player, it doesn't surpise me he looks good in the Championship. I thought he might make the two division jump to be honest as he was so experienced, but maybe next season he will shine for us. We have so many CBs though. Juric is going to have to get the right blend.

It may well be that he just isn’t happy down south. He’s a Yorkshire lad who’s spent most of his life there or just across the border in Burnley. Whatever his problem is, it clearly transcends managers, so a move back north wouldn’t surprise me.

Not a bad player but a truly bizarre signing. He's about as defensive a left-back as you can get, and yet we have used a three-back with wing-backs pretty much all season. Crazy.

Depends how it’s structured and staffed. It needs to show there is a pathway to the first team and equip the players to have better odds to succeed than it does. No point producing players for championship or league 1.

Brentford binned theirs so they could concentrate on scouting  up and coming players from the lower leagues and the academy prospects of other clubs.

That said, the valuation seems reasonable. We basically have Grealish II and he went for £100m. Give this lad another one or two years (playing the Prem side - which may or may not happen) and he might be a £100m player too.

That's what i dont understand. Promotion utilising a more defensive formation convinced RM that was the way to go and reverting to four at the back didnt seem to ever cross his mind. How Taylor was to fit in to that formation I will never know. It's like the recruitment department and the manager never spoke. Obviously that can't be the case, so what was the plan for Taylor?

The lack of experience and common sense in building a PL-ready side has killed us. Lack of cover at DM, the wingers we signed, zero upgrades at centre-back, and downgrading on Che up front - disaster. Anyone linked with that window should be shown the door.

Depends on who's left after sales, shipping out players etc. We'll be back to Baz in goal, Bree and Manning potentially as wing backs etc. It will need work.

I do think we'd still have a decent squad but this time round I'd like to see it strengthened sensibly for the chance to stay in the Prem should we go up again. But that's easier said than done based on our recent transfer history.

I quite want to be in the Championship again where we can look forward to blowing almost all other Championship clubs out of the water for players. Obviously that would change after a couple of seasons but it will be fun for that period of time.
