Good luck marking someone like Chris Wood. Realistically, he's going to be in the U21s so surprising that he appears in the first team squad on the official website. 1

If so, and given these are both squad players, can we also take it that you are implying you're happy with the strength of our first 11? If that isn't the case, then can I assume that you share SFCs sentiments that our business has been rather lacklustre (putting it kindly). Edited Thursday at 17:45 by Saint86 1 1

That’s it isn’t it. Signing talents youngsters seeing how they develop and hoping they will progress on is all well and good when your first team is stable and performing. City and Chelsea have been doing it for years and now Brighton too. But the first team also needs a few here and now signings too. 4

A stable first team, or rather a stable approach under Ralph, with the strategy they brought was what they'd hinged their master plan on. When their decisions helped that go pear shaped, they've been at a loss much of the time since.

If we had instead spent the money buying the likes of Edozie, Larios etc on a few experienced PL players we would be in a better position. Theres nothing wrong picking up players at an early stage but we have shown ourselves to be shit at picking good ones and with the exception of Ramsdale haven’t bought experienced PL players for some time. Good luck to the new lad but no one will be surprised in 18 months to hear he’s heading off to port vale on loan never to be heard of again

I think ABK is still trying to push a transfer away from the club, despite Juric bringing him back into the 1st fold he'll be gone by the end of the window.

I thought Juric might have waited until after this cup game to see what Edwards was like, but maybe he saw enough on the training pitch. Martin obviously didnt think he was ready. Hopefully he does well in the championship and then we can reap the rewards next summer - although there will still be lots of other CBs under contract. Personally, I've not been as impressed with Wood as others so far. Some of the issues he had at Swansea seem to be there in terms of poor decision making when he has the ball - by that I mean putting teamates in deep shit with the wrong pass. Perhaps he needs more time to settle in and gain confidence - which may help him make better choices. That doesn't mean he won't be a good signing for us over the long term, but he makes me nervous. He does have the physical attributes, but I dont see any of our CBs as powerful dominating players. We saw how Awoniyo bullied ABK two seasons ago and I wonder how we will fair against him and Chris Wood in a week or two. If I was ABKs agent, I'd be trying to find him a new home too. 2
