He’ll be off to our sister club I guess given his age?

No, coming straight into Saints senior training, will probably play for U21s to begin with but train with main group

Given that he's the French Under 19 captain you'd like to think he has something about him.

Mercato : le défenseur de Valenciennes Joachim Kayi Sanda vers Southampton (Transferts)

Quote

Mercato: Valenciennes defender Joachim Kayi Sanda heading for Southampton

Valenciennes' young central defender Joachim Kayi Sanda (18) is to sign for Premier League club Southampton in a €5m transfer with a percentage on resale.

Valenciennes are about to let go one of the most important players in their squad, and their biggest market value. Joachim Kayi Sanda is set to leave his hometown club for Southampton, last in the Premier League, this weekend. Although an agreement in principle had been in place for several months between the two clubs, which are owned by the same shareholder, Sport Republic, all parties have agreed to a transfer valued at €5 million, plus a percentage on resale.

The two clubs had to wait for the French U19 team captain to come of age, which occurred on 29 November, before moving forward with the transfer. The youngster, who has already undergone a medical, will now be able to commit to a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Saints.

One of the best players of the 2006 generation

Kayi Sanda is seen in England as a player with a lot of potential, one of the best of the 2006 generation, and there is now talk of what should be done in the coming weeks to enable him to continue to gain as much playing time as possible in the near future. With this in mind, it is not impossible that the finalist of the Euros and the U17 World Cup in 2023 with Les Bleuets could be loaned out during the winter window to a club at a higher level than Valenciennes (National).

Kayi Sanda, who made his professional debut last season, has made 20 appearances in Ligue 2 and 11 in the French national side since VA were relegated last summer.

We were nailed on to be a relegation contender at the start of the season.

To put a more balanced slant on it....

There were quite a few on here that wanted us to sign BBD......although they are quiet now, so I am not sure that most fans opinions really count for that much.....

He's been used appallingly, never as a central striker by an idiot manager that should have been called out months ago, obsessed by a meaningless tactic of thousands of passes in our penalty area. I still would like to see how he plays maybe alongside Onuachu. His record with Blackburn and Sheffield Utd will attract teams looking for a striker. Not having to play backwards and sideways will help him.

That is not where he was effective for previous clubs. Blackburn and Sheff Utd used him on the left.

One guess on who forced Steve into these site updates...

I totally agree with you, Derry. He hasn't been used properly.....certainly not properly enough to see what if anything he CAN actually do. I was just making the the point that there are those on here who wanted us to to sign him...probably some of the same ones who are now proclaiming him as a dreadful footballer.

I didn't think they played him wide left though as we have? Regardless, his touch his poor, he lacks pace, and for me just doesn't look like a PL level player.

And people pay money to read and listen to his claptrap! They want their heads testing. He's an embarrassment at our club. Just looking at him makes my fingers itch.

I agree with the bit in bold, but in the Championship he has proven to be very effective, and that is where we are likely to be soon.

I was saying the same thing about AA when we were on our way down. Many were saying he was crap (which is true at the PL level) and we should get rid of him. It doesn't make sense to do that when the player could perform well in the Championship.

I don't disagree. He's worth keeping for next season, and needs a loan for the remainder of this imo.

so, basically we should stick with the current squad next season safe in the knowledge that although they may not be cut out for the Prem, but they have done well in the past in the second tier. not very sexy, but makes sense.

Bragg not getting in the Crawley squad and Ballard not in the goals at Blackpool.

Only good enough for 4th.

New loan for Bragg perhaps, and a starting position for Ballard, no goals! no problem.

I was referring to individuals like BBD. But yeah, we need to be better next season then last. We can worry about that in the summer.

Can he/will he be recalled from loan?

Daily Mail Links him with West Ham and Leicester.

That would super depress me. Was really hoping to see him properly as a saint now russball is over. At least when we lost fella it was to leverkusen.

Liverpool fans seems rather upset at the “Trent” likes to Real Madrid. He’s selfish and greedy apparently why he wasn’t to leave Liverpool for Madrid etc be such a shame if he left 😀

Thought you'd been a bit quiet, any thoughts on this year's Boxing Day?

Wed/Thu? Indisputably orthodox.

Retaining Charles and offloading Smallbone would be my preference.  I can’t see WS fitting into Juric’s set up - even at Championship level.

Option to buy, like Alcaraz at Juventus 😂.

I forgot about that. That was just so bizarre, even if it was for financial reasons. He wasn't great but I'd rather have him in midfield than Aribo for example.

Sheff Utd supposedly close to loaning Brereton-Diaz with an option to buy.

As crap as he has been, I think Martin let him down a bit by telling him to hug the touchline and play as a traditional winger, rather than an inside forward, coming in off the left, where he has been most successful for his other clubs and I think he could have been some use for us next season. Armstrong, Brereton-Diaz and Archer all have good records at Championship level and could all play together in a front three. It's just Premier League football that they aren't cut out for, but we're a Championship club in a few months, so logic would suggest we keep hold of these guys while we're a Championship club. So, not fully on board with the option to buy.

But, SR don't really do logic.

Looks like his head was already in Madrid today if you watched him plodding around for Liverpool today. Their replacement (Bradley?) looked far better.

On Saints - it's really sad to say this, but I wouldn't be upset if any of the current team were sold. Not one tear. I think if we kept a 'spine' of Ramsdale, Harwood-Bellis, Downes and Armstrong, that would be okay in the Championship next season.

Said this already, but the club needs to offload as many as possible now, buy NO ONE this window and hit the ground running in June. Proven manager (let's face it, it won't be Juric, he'll run away anyway), good players that aren't a complete waste of fking money.  None of this fannying around buying Man City youth or French youth - just players who do a job.  Look at Brighton, Bournemouth, Brentford - already been said, but how the fk can they find very decent players for less than the money our club has spunked on players? ARGH.

None of this can or will happen while SR continue to call the shots.

I'm not on the Juric out train after such a short period of time, with a substandard group of players. Lets judge him at the end of Feb once he's had time to instil his style of play into the team.

Personally I think it would be more sensible to try and buy some top quality players for next season now. We are really the only premier league team that can prepare for the championship now and there will be increased competition in May (including from the newly promoted teams), we are still a premier league team so anyone that comes to us can still showcase themselves for 6 months in the top flight, and it gives us time to bed the players into the team, so they can hit the ground running next season.
