January Transfer Window 2025

I don't see how Bamford who is now struggling in the Championship solves any of our problems up front.  We need a striker who has some height, pace and power to lead the line - and who can hold the ball up and make the runs of the shoulder off the defender to open up the space and give our midfield something to aim at.

I am hopeful we will sign Yuri Alberto from Corinthians in early January as their season ends in early December - and that he at least gives us some of what we need up front.

But we probably need more than one additional forward/attacker not too mention a winger/attacking midfielder or 2.

Don't forget Wellington will join us on a free in January for the same reason - and I am hoping he solves some of our problems at left bac

January Transfer window? What’s the point …

Not sure if this is the point, rather than outcome, but possibly to spend best part of £100m on some duds who will seriously handicap us by FFP rules when promoted gain for 2026/7 season.

Can’t really see us spending anything, January is notoriously poor value and we’re not going to sign anyone who’s going to make any difference in terms of staying up. I don’t think we’ll need to do much in summer either, we already have a massive squad of Championship players. Me might sell a couple, possibly TP, KWP or ABK.

In all seriousness if we have any sense that’s exactly what we’ll do: prepare for next season’s promotion push by selling anyone we won’t be keeping or want to lose, removing as much pointless wages as possible and spending nothing. Leave us with something resembling next years squad.

Oh, and have next years coach in place to give them a 6 month pre season.

We all knew we’d likely be relegated this season, but 8 games in and it’s already a total write off. Let’s accept it and plan for the next one

We've got a large squad. We'll be looking to move on a number of those. Who they are depends on if it's Martin in charge.

If it's not, SR may balance some of the outgoings with a reinforcement or two for the new person. That will also depend if there's still a chance of staying up. But it will be mostly outbound traffic whatever happens.

Apparently interested in a loan move for Bamford in January.

But we have Tall Paul?!!? Martin really does have favourites and then players he wants rid of.

What's Orsic doing?  Lets get the January-window club back together.

Feels like yesterday I was getting called an idiot by quite a few people for suggesting maybe we shouldn’t ’just pay whatever it takes’ to get him in. There have been more than enough precautionary tales across various clubs in January to know to keep our powder dry. Andy Carroll has to be the most hilarious. £35m in 2011 is probably £90m in todays prices.

So, how many windows will this be without signing a reliable / clinical #9...?

I make it 8 windows... #bonkers

Who is selling reliable, clinical PL standard #9s for anywhere close to our budget? TP, Archer, Stewart and BBD can all lead the front line with varying degrees of success but better than them gets expensive.

No-one over the last 8 windows, it would seem....

I think we will see a few moved out and one or two come in.

My guess is Paul Onuachu, Armel Bella-Kotchap, and Kamaldeen Suelmana will all be moved on.

I also wouldn't be surprised if Manning goes back to the Championship if Wellington joins us  in January - but he could end up at Goztepe for the rest of this season.  It was never clear if he was joining them or us really.

If KWP stays I can see Bree making a return to the Championship.

And it looks like Edwards probably needs a loan to the Championship so he gets some game time.

I can see the Ugochukwu and Cornet loans getting cancelled unless they make an impact between now and then.

I'd also send BBD on loan to the Championship as well if we can.

Hopefully Yuri Alberto or someone similar will be coming in for about £15M or so to help score some goals  - and maybe another attacking midfield/winger.

If a new manager comes in, surely Wood will go out on loan. Hasn't looked anywhere near good enough, and would much rather have Edwards on the bench in case of emergencies. Problem is whether anyone will take him! If we get rid of him and ABK, that's at least two centre backs who are likely to never play either way, but taking up a decent chunk of salary.

how many years have we been saying that for?

It’d help if we didn’t keep signing it. Despite being terrible, we have this weird habit of signing players who can’t even make our match day squad.

Probably the highlight of this was a few years ago under Ralph when at 4 of our 7 subs had at one point been our record signing 🤣🤣

We may be 'looking to move them on' but its easier said than done, we may find we just keep looking

Strange player. Was really highly rated when he was young never really fullfilled his potential, had a few good seasons in the championship and one good season for Leeds in the premier but one of those players that’s been around for years and you forget exists until you play their teams

Stewart is definitely not the CF we are looking for.
doesn’t look to have anything about him at all.
I realise he’s been out for a long time but TP, although not great by any means, is way in front of him at the moment

As TP is the only one out of them who can actually make it onto the pitch at the moment there doesn’t seem to be much of a contest.

His agent (Cury) has apparently been in contact with the club and others to get him a move.

Cury:

“It’s not a natural move, especially since Corinthians will ask for a lot of money, they only have 50% (of the player)"

There were many offers to loan him earlier this year including Wolves and Southampton came in the summer with an offer to buy but this was also rejected."***

If true that we are after Lewis O’Brien, we seem to be preparing in long-term planning mode: preparing for league 1 the season after next. ☹️

It’s literally a post from some random bloke on Twitter, about as reliable as reading your tea leaves.
