Incredibly boring game where we only threatened once really in 90 minutes

It'll be enough to keep him in the job for Everton and Wolves, so that's no changes until the international break at the earliest

A 1-0 narrow loss against City probably looks decent on Martin's CV, which at this point is legitimately all I believe him to be interested in. He's seen what happened with Kompany and thinks he can pull off the same thing

I hope he turns it around because we need 6 points from those next 2 to stand any chance but feel pretty confident to say that it isn't happening. Wolves get a point too so I think that's us 20th for the rest of the season

Probably the best scoreline we could've envisaged before the game. City played well below par for them, so have to keep that in perspective, but we've had worse afternoons....

Good performance today tbh. People aren't being realistic if they expected anything else from this one. Kept it tight, had a few chances to get something, hit the bar etc. Onto the next one.

They're playing smarter in recent weeks but just aren't getting any luck. Ipswich, Leicester, Arsenal/city away have all been decent performances. Can see us getting at least 4 out of wolves and Everton.

Most teams would be throwing the kitchen sink at it and having ago. We’re still content to pass it around aimlessly amongst our defence.  This system is garbage .

Yes, to some extent.  The fact we stayed in it after conceding so earlier has to be an achievement.  No points but still will build confidence in our defence.  So many corners well defended against one of the best teams in the world if not the best.  However, that being said we still need to find a win from somewhere.

But not many better ones this season

Only finished 1-0 because City couldn't finish, otherwise another terrible 90 minutes.

It's the pressing teams that attack with pace and get in our face when we play it around our own box that we struggle against, which is a lot of the rest of the league. City's low tempo allowed our defence to reset and setup at every attack, like we always allow, also.

Ipswich lose last kick. 😆

Ipswich are pretty shit - is McKenna as good a Manager as everyone thought? They were better than us last season, spent a lot of money and have looked very poor in general. Not sure he's a PL standard manager either.

Well eventually we sort of have to win a game. There’s pretty much a quarter of the season gone and we’ve managed 1 point. If that continues, we’ll finish on about 4 or 5 points ffs

You think Russ being banned from the touchline will have a positive effect then...? ;)

At least Tall Paul caused a bit of panic in the City defence in his 5 minute cameo. I actually think a traditional 4-4-2 and and play with a bit of pace out wide and we could actually win some games, which Martin’s system seems incapable of

Won't mean much. Relegated teams win some games in a season.

I bet you £10k they won't.

Gave Brentford a much harder game than we did even when down to 10 men.

Our position in the league is no shock or chance fluke. We are rock bottom, and if you look at our squad it is easy to see why.

Bring on next season, eh?

Yeah, but we all expected to be relegated before the season started anyway - we were favourites. If that's your attitude I guess we may as well not play the remaining games.

If we are to get out of this mess, we'll need to see a lot more of these dull games. 1-0 wins are how we're going to do it, suck up the pressure and hope Archer can score on the break.

Martin will look at the result, our periods of possession and us being in with a shout late on for a point.

He set us up to try and take one of what would be only a few chances. Archer hit the bar. However, if those were to be added, City would have had a few more too.

At 1 up early, we didn't see them having to go up too many gears. We kept it to 1, but one chance aside, never laid a glove on them.

TP did okay coming on. I'd have kept Archer on with him. AA showed some good running too. Some solid performances throughout. But again, with our opponents already in the lead.

A game where Martin will take lots of professional points from. But it's still another defeat, in a game where we offered little.

Be a hell of a commute for a part time job!

4 points from 10 games is fucking appalling even for a team favourites for relegation.

So I won't be interested in the "he's proved you all wrong" open top bus parade from the Russell Martin fangirls if we do manage to beat Everton.

It's where we were predicted to finish by everyone - papers, bookies, OPTA - and yet we have fans annoyed that we lost 1-0 at possibly the best team in the World.

Some of our fans are utter knob heads.

City have scored two or more against everyone they've played, in every competition this season, except for Newcastle and Inter Milan, so there's merit in keeping it tight and not letting the GD get out of hand. A fair few of our rivals will go to City and let in four or five, so relative to that it's not the worst result in the world.

I think it was more down to City having a below par day rather than us giving them a "hard game" TBH, but we don't have to agree on that viewpoint, of course.

I'm not sure that's the attitude people have - you've done some quite incredible gymnastics to get to that conclusion.

I know it doesnt fit the agenda but i thought martin did well today with both the team and how we played inc subs.

Result isnt on him, more on the quality we have v city, also watching a stream with no comms is a relevation.

Best possible loss we could hope for, big concern as it has been all season is goal scoring, who are our goalscorers as we are drier than a dingo's donger at the moment.

Tick that off your predictable response bingo card everyone.

1 point from 9 is shite. Playing Manchester City is a complete irrelevance.
