I don't see it as a conundrum. If we win, it's because Martin has changed his tactics and yes, we could then turn a corner. We haven't got a premier league winning squad but used properly, we have got a squad that can beat Leicester.

The betting pot is looking empty this season though there's another few quid 'invested' on Saints winning 3-1.

Russell what's your verdict on that game?

RM: I'm really proud of the bravery and and possession on display today we stuck to our philosophy and are all the better for it, We have to believe the system will reward us and the more we stray from our system  the less of a winning mentality we will have! I am confident that this is the right system and noone should be judged on how many games they have won after only eight games thats madness! I don't just want to just be judged on how many points we have on the board that's not how I operate, I want to be judged on the bigger picture of statistics and the long term vision for my style of the game fan opinion is not even secondary to me!

Russell that's now 1 point from 24 available its going to be extremely tough now with the fixtures coming up

We are improving every single game we are going in the right direction, we should have won today and individual mistakes have cost us again, players need to be more confident in the martin system triangles at the back it's sideways sideways backwards forwards sideways this should have been second nature to them!

Russell are you starting to worry about your position now that results aren't going your way?

No why would I be and why would you even ask that question at this stage in the season? Rasmus dragan and I are very much on the same page and they knew exactly what I would bring to the club from the beginning and I am confident I am delivering on that, we have all brought into the bigger picture the vision if you like, we will be there or there abouts at the end of the season and it's certainly not about what league we are in!

Anyone else rather surprised that we've not seen a minute of Ronnie Edwards in the league this season? The way he was built up I before he signed I thought he'd be on the bench with a few minutes at the very least.

I'm surprised he's not on the bench, given that we seem to be going without CB cover at all recently, but in all honesty he's a young League 1 defender and we're in no position to be giving people a run out just for experience.

Ultimately I think this is just an avatar for our absolute sh*t show of a recruitment strategy in summer. We knew our squad was nowhere near PL quality in the summer, needed major reinforcement and after seven games we've got Wood, Edwards, Lallana, Diaz, Les, Taylor and Archer all NOT starting. Ever single player we signed should have been better than what we had and gone straight into the starting XI. We already had enough Championship quality 'options', now we've got nearly thirty.

We can agree on that. Steve Cooper is bereft of tactical nous and is a fucking uninspiring dirge of a manager.

Surprised he hasn’t been on the bench more often. Perhaps behind Wood in the pecking order.

It’s very simple what Russ needs to do, but he will get it wrong.

Lose today and we end up with the lowest points total in Premier league history. Leicester are an absolutely horrendous side who are still relying on an OAP upfront.

And we're relying on an OAP in midfield.

I'd still want to see Sugawara and KWP at the back rather than Taylor because they present more of an attacking threat. But when you look at that forward line up or the options, reality does hit. Our goal threat is so limited. I'd go for Archer in the middle - at least to start.

Honestly for this game i would just like to see our best on the ball players play.

That means Lallana, Fernandes, Dibbling, KWP.

I would also like to see what happens it they combine it with 2 up top with the 2 being Archer and Tall Paul working together, TP being the outlet and archer making runs for these ball players.

God knows what happens though, martins pride means TP is probably a sub again and we get the walking football to the edge of the oppo's box.

Finally getting to go to a game this season, probably going to be disappointed but will at least miss the traffic

1 - 3 with us scoring first, one overplay give away for one of theirs and several near misses as we continue to try the ridiculous penalty area passing even when we are losing

madness that he is still here

I have the saints games automatically added to Google calendar and until this morning it was showing this game as a 5:30pm kick off.

So luckily I checked, it's a 3pm :mcinnes:

 

Just put my mortgage on Vardy to score at any time, so drinks are on me later 👋

just as long as they keep Vardy off the pitch, he has a unenviable goal-scoring  record against us ......

but with the height that Leicester have in their defence ..surely Onuachu must be strong candidate for some extended game time ?

Don't know what our owners attendance has been like so far this season BUT they are definitely in attendance today. Win or lose i wouldn't expect RM to be sacked after todays game unless we get absolutely spanked.

For my two pennies worth i do not advocate sacking RM yet. I said at the start of the season he should be given 10/12 games and nothing has changed my mind. Admittedly time and results are now against RM and if we fail to win today it really is difficult to see where the team will get the belief and confidence to go and get a win anytime soon.

stating the obvious but we have to win otherwise we will lose to city meaning we go into the everton game with no wins in 9.

we have to win if only to create some sense of hope that we might stay up whereas at the moment it all feels pretty bleak. Would be depressing  for the season to effectively be over by december 

how many games is it now since we last won in the PL ? must be twenty plus I think.

My first game of the season today after some very tough times personally over the lpast few months. 

I had an unbeaten record last season in attendance (7 wins and a draw) so I'm hoping I can bring some good luck today (I know, different league now).

It's still early days in the season, so just getting a win on the board could bring some confidence and an upturn in fortunes. You've got to have hope, haven't you?

Come on you Saints!

Sadly, it seems bailiffs haven't taken Jamie Vardy away to pay off his wife's legal bills. But here's hoping he, and Leicester, have stinkers and we get those points.

I hope things are a bit better for you now too, Saint Pete.

I’ll be very very disappointed if onuachu isn’t starting today. He looks to have the lot .surely he’s even a better option for the passing game anyway as he simply holds the ball better .. surely a no brainer for him to play

Agreed, these are our best attacking options so play them RM.

If we ditch Russball, we’ve got a chance against these lot. No messing around with the ball at the back, and senseless bollocks like possession for possession’s sake - just be pragmatic.

I'm looking at the team sheet, and I have no idea what kind of formation that's going to be.

I could understand doubling up at LB against Arsenal, but Leicester?

If Manning is the answer, what the fuck is the question?

BBD not even on the bench I see.
