Just got home I hate Vardy he changed the game when he took out Sugawara and then we had the incompetent substitutions we are all used to. I cannot talk about the referee he was absolutely atrocious I wouldn't be surprised in years to come to hear that some referees were bought by some clubs. They should have had just a many yellows as us but he seemed to think that a Leicester playing going through the back of a player to get the ball was ok. They waste about three minutes over a free kick when they had a player injured off the pitch and no cards, then we get a card for a delay over a throw in. (Surely he has seen that we have no clue about throw ins 😁) The only way we are staying up is the bring someone in like Graham Potter and do it quick.

I love Saints but fuck me do they make it hard work to love them. We're just the sort of bonkers club that would go to City and play brilliantly then get totally twatted by Stoke and Everton. 

Please God can the board just give us a chance and sack the manager. 8 games in and I still don't think Russ even knows what his best formation is, let alone his best team. I bet he even has trouble picking what he wants from the menu at a restaurant.

It is a very disappointing result but I do think some perspective needs to be given. Fatawu came on and was top, top class. That shows how good the EPL is - it is a huge step up with all clubs spending millions on the best players in the world. It is always going to be so hard. 
On here we have had suggestions about leaving 2 on the halfway line for corners. No-one does that, not even Pep when they anre 3-0 up.  Also suggestion about Fraser coming on to shore the left side up. Well we all saw how they worked. 
I don’t agree with giving the ball away in stupid positions and I do feel the ref could have cost Martin his job with our penalty shout, but the players are working so hard to get a result, so they cannot do any more and credit has to go to Martin on that as they obviously are still playing for him. Some of the insults going towards him are over the top. 
Personally, I think with the players we have we could do a little better with another manager (but maybe not), but not enough to stay up. However, I will always be thankful for the day in May as the best day I’ve had at football.

Any reason why we didn’t bring the former England international with years of experience who can hold the ball in midfield and help see the game out at 2-0 when things started to turn at around 60 minutes? Not to mention that he let the Leicester player remain on the pitch after receiving treatment, rather than the usual having to spend a period off the pitch after receiving treatment to stop time wasting. Then when Smallbone received treatment in the second half, he had to go off and we were playing with 9 men for a phase. 

But, yeah, today was crap. Ref was crap, substitutions were crap yet again, Archer and Fernandes didn't need to come off when they did and if Fernandes has to go off, bring on Lallana, VAR's crap. Crap, crap, crap.

Cannot do anymore how about stopping Fatawu or get within 20 yards of him ! Tactically so naive when was last time we won the midfield especially in centre and bringing on a player who hasn’t played in weeks when getting over run is so stupid especially when he has no power, can’t head it, can’t tackle yet you are under the cosh .

Lets give Martin more time he just may one day make the right substitution

I've seen it done and the panic in the opposition. On one occasion it was us panicing. Secondly a good number of forwards have no idea how to mark except stand like a traffic cone. Can't close down, can't tackle. Why would you want them just cluttering up the penalty area marking nobody. A better use would be up the field taking opposition players away.

That's a fair balanced post, I think it's going to be really difficult for us as a fanbase living through what is likely to be our worst season ever in real time, especially the nippers , one about 7 years old looked absolutely distraught walking out of the ground. We all learn the hard way but would have been nice to give the kids some hope. I can't imagine there's a Saints fan left who still gives us a chance of survival but let's at least play for pride.

I may well be wrong, but thought that their player received treatment after a challenge that came with a Yellow Card. A yellow card means a players getting said treatment does not leave the pitch???

Probably a figment of my imagination...but sure I have read that somewhere.

Cost less than Sulemana - but Leicester don’t have the deadweight transfer acumen of Rasmus Ankerson. Not about Saints not being able to compete, Leicester are a same sized club but just far better in the transfer market even with the Rodgers era bloopers eg Vestergaard gift to us. We spent £15m on Shea Charles when they signed Harry Winks - also go figure.

They’ve had shockers too which relegated them, but they try to go with quality as well as quantity and 20 signings where 8-9 better ones suffice.

Have to say when i was watching them i thought buonanotte was excellent and when fatawu came on as well my first thought was i thought hopefully suelemana is watching what a winger is meant to do.

Honestly leciester were unlucky to be 2-0 down at we all knew we were frauding by being 2-0 up.

Also am guessing Suelemana was the man meant to be on the penalty spot on corners as tall paul will always be heading and we need a speedy outlet if we break.

Life is hard enough without being a southampton fan.

we assume his recommendations have been the ones we bought.

When you add into the mix the transferoom brother and Martin i like manning, wood etc i sincerly doubt mowbray has had much influence on the purchases to be honest.

It feels like SR have gone out with this waffle about scouting, systems etc etc and we end up going with manager's recommendations, good deals on transfer room and overpaying for problem positions (ramsdale is worth the money but couldnt of we got a ramsdale from temu version and spent money elsewhere via scouting)

Desperate and predictable. As soon as Frazer came on I just knew the left would be exposed. It needed Taylor on, move KWP to the right. Absolute ridiculous decision.

Then Lallana is left on the bench. That wasn't the moment to give Smallbone 'a game'.

Equally Sulemana looked unfit and out of touch. No surprise but he needs some warm up games. Armstrong would have been a far stronger option.

Not defending the edge of the area for the last goal.... unforgivable.

Martin simply won't keep Saints up. Not sure anyone can, but let's at least give it a go.

Fatawu played against us for Leicester last season, scoring a hattrick at the king power... We know everything there is to know about him. We left manning and fraser to get absolutely rinsed by him when we had a far better quality defensive left back sat on the bench.

I think the pride has gone, like 2 years ago, when the players stop trying. We haven’t got to that point yet, but it could happen. I would try to get Potter (Graham, not Harry although maybe we need a magician …), but I do feel more positive where we are today than last time when I though with the players we were heading towards League One, again! However, I don’t think Martin is a clown like some and certainly does not warrant the abuse whether in person or online.

The player does not have to leave the pitch if the injury he's receiving treatment for was caused by a bookable offence.

I’ve struggled to find an explanation but from Law 5, (there are other exceptions)

Exceptions to the requirement to leave the field of play are only when:

• a player is injured as the result of a physical offence for which the opponent is cautioned or sent off (e.g. reckless or serious foul challenge), if the assessment/treatment is completed quickly

As it happened the treatment wasn’t particularly quick but the referee is not going to know that when the treatment begins.

Onuachu tried to be honest, stayed on his feet and got nothing. If he’d thrown himself down like everyone else does we’d have got a penalty.

The numb feeling is just dying off and then looked at the league table. This has been all so avoidable. Yes, we've got an average squad, but with Ipswich and today alone we've squandered five points and the four at the bottom are already looking detached.

It really is noticeable how so many of our players are blowing out their arses after 60/70 minutes and they're not running around like headless chickens before that either. KWP aside, we look slow and comparatively unfit. This is inexcusable.

If you were going to fix a Prem. game, this would be a great one to do. Leicester weren't favourites so the odds were decent but they could easily win with a bit of help from the ref.

Being a Saints fan since 1953/54 means I have had lots of ups and downs but I was hoping

that I would see at least one more good season in the PL before I pop by clogs. I am fed up with

being a masochist these days ...I want to become a sadist and badly beat up other teams.

Alas I think/know with this present management lot, and I include directors, I shall have to remain
