Saints 2-3 Leicester - Match Thread

Think saints need to seriously need to make a complaint about Taylor based on this first half alone. Dread to think whats going to happen second half if this noncery carries on.

We’ve been much better since we dropped that fucking cart horse Diaz.

Agreed he really is awful and does nothing but throw his hands up at his teammates or dive

And not a single bad foul yet - genuinely one of the worst refereeing performances I’ve seen. Gave a yellow for nothing in the 3rd minute and has painted himself into a corner. Absolutely diabolical

14 yellow cards for Bmth v Chelsea and barely a bad foul. He's an absolute clown

I know he isn't but Aribo looks so clumsy with the ball always looks like he's struggling to control it

Nice to get 2-0 up at HT, you will know we will concede straight after and then fall to a 3-2 loss....😅

BUT....keep this up and it should be a comfortable first win of the season.

Best game for aribo in a long time, capped off with a goal. Manning and kwp our biggest threats down the left, dibling on the right, archer on the scoresheet, what's not to like?

Do we keep trying to get forward as we simply don't know how to shut up shop?  as you know it will be a different Leicester that come out for the second half.... They've been poor so far by their standards

Well, ironically after saying he's not changing his style, we have been way more direct and hit far more long passes this game and it's worked! The players seem to have a bit more license to get rid which they have when under heavy pressure.

KWP Saints best attacking threat this half.

True, but he's been poor in defence. Given the ball away in our half a few times under no pressure.

Obviously happy with the scoreline, but we're making very hard work of it and are lucky Leicester haven't punished any of our numerous giveaways yet.

After we scored our first, they took control a bit and 3 times in the space of 10-15 minutes they had an uncontested header in our box from a set piece. Not good enough.

So while I'm very happy to see us take a 2-0 lead, I'm still very far from convinced by the performance.

As for the ref, I have genuinely never seen such ineptitude before. Absolutely shocking.

Really need to think about how we’re going to finish the game with 11 men. Referee is shocking.

Some tidy play in spells but this Ramsdale low suicide ball into midfield could easily get us in trouble. Very interesting to see how we look 2nd half.

Honestly we have looked much better as we have ditched Russ ball at times and been more direct... He must be fuming! 😉

Sounds as though we've had a decent first half so here's hoping we can push on and secure a much needed victory. The first 20 minutes of the second half will be crucial. Think we might still need at least one more goal - stats show Ramsdale has made zero saves although I think they hit the post. We need all 3 points, nothing less.

Goals have been very heavily about KWP and he's been outstanding, definitely our key attacking player. Defensively our low block looks a bit of a mess though like with their shot off the post. Too open in our own box, no-one seems to know who is supposed to be engaging / making contact with who. I guess it's zonal, but you really need outstanding communication to make that work imo and not sure we have it.

Quite an open half. Leicester had more of the ball. But we worked very hard to minimise their chances. Even that meant one of their efforts of the inside of the post, and us picking up a few bookings.

We had an early goal and one off the bar. That second finally gives us a game with a gap.

The Manning and KWP partnership has worked well, so points to RM for that. Leicester have sussed that long central out ball of ours. Fortunately, Aribo has been a presence for us to hold it up. A goal and that one off the bar too for him. Dibling exciting going forward, if a little suss defensively. But pushes them back in a half where we've passed it about, but have looked to get forward quickly too.

We've certainly got weak spots here, but hopefully can keep that tempo up second half.

Thoroughly enjoyable football. Great to watch and winning at half time. I wish we would play this way every game.

All it will take now to ruin my day.. Anthony Taylor continues to be a dick. RM tells the lads to revert to Russball. Saints lose 3-2… let’s hope not!!
