While having every sympathy for individuals, this passing leaves me a bit horrified. I've got very little trust in it not being expanded. The more it is, the worse the outcome for the vulnerable. Some commentators have said they don't feel it goes far enough as it is. I can only hope that such things don't come to pass.

You're a cunt and a troll. Do everyone a favour and leave.

While your tact and restraint, in communicating a view shared by others, is to be applauded, could a direct approach have been considered to convey the strength of your point? 🙂

I really tried to respond in this thread in a respectful manner but he really is just a narcissistic dickhead looking for a reaction. I don't think he believes any of the shit he spews on here, it's just designed to provoke reactions.

I am not the one who posts laughing emojis on posts about the innocent Palestinians being butchered in Gaza and the West Bank. You really need to look at yourself hypo. You can call me all the names under the sun, but anyone reading your posts over the years can see you for what you are.

You used to follow me around and respond to my every post within seconds and I am the troll? You really are a massive hypocrite.

What is respectful in posting that this will all go pear shaped in a few years time? You clearly have issues with it which is your right, but the majority of the people in this country want it, so as you told me with Brexit, accept that this is what the majority want.

This is a hilarious as it absolutely applies to you. I called you out years ago for what you are which rattled your cage as i saw right through you so you do your silly "i've got you on ignore" act. People stuck up for you at first, they said you were just a bit of a dopey old boy but over time people have seen you for what you are and more and more people have seen through this act of yours. Must be tough for you to take that you devote so much of your life to trying to appear like a nice guy on an internet forum yet people have still managed to see right through it and think you're a bellend. 🤣

I've long since stopped giving the benefit of any doubt. I've tangled with Hypo more than I have with any other poster down the years, as has SoG, but SoG's remark about Hypo yesterday was disgraceful. There's no need or place for that sort of behaviour on here imo.

C’mon, we all know he is a twat but let’s not think his remark was anything special.

SOG cannot process rationally so has to demonise anyone who has a differing opinion which of course is many. Haven’t read all his thread but I expect he thinks anyone who disagrees with the bill delights in people dying in pain

"Don’t worry hypo, it isn’t mandatory so you are safe". That crossed a line for me.

SOG needs to worry when the slippery slope reaches ‘clinical simpletons”

Another dumb comment. Why would I think that anyone would delight in someone else dying in pain? Hypo made a remark about the scheme all falling apart in a few years and has, from the posts I have read, constantly focussed on the possible negatives. This bill gives people a proper choice at last. I really don’t understand why anyone would have a problem with others having that opportunity. Yes, it needs to be properly policed etc, but that is a separate issue and will be addressed I’m sure. Would you argue against the principle of individuals being allowed to die with dignity in certain circumstances?

I am actually pretty much on the fence. What I do know that when decisions come down to spend money or save money the latter usually triumphs.

Really? You have been posting on here as long as I have. That is tame in comparison to what I have faced over the years from him and the group of people who think like him. And I have never called him a c**t. You may disagree with me, but constantly posting laughing emojis on posts about dead Palestinians is far worse than my comment.

The reactions  from the people who will benefit from this bill spoke volumes yesterday. More and more counties are moving in this direction. It is all about showing compassion and humanity and allowing people a choice. The focus on possible coercion is a side show. This isn’t going to affect most people anyway. I made my glib comment to hypo because you would think that this is eventually going to be all about getting rid of pesky sick people to read his comments. He posted that it was a sad day. Not to the people who think that this is a major step in the right direction and something that a progressive country should be doing it isn’t.

Bollox is it. Your comment was death related and was completely out of order. Speaks volumes that can't see how  inappropriate it was.

Possibly easier just to treat every topic on here like a big joke. I noted the tone of this topic and sensed that maybe posters on here felt similarly to myself on this issue and were looking to treat it with the seriousness it deserved. It's why I was quite careful not to denigrate anyone personally for their support of this bill even though I vehemently disagree. More fool me clearly because soggy can't help being the worst type of person. Like I said he just proves again and again what sort of person he is but unfortunately with this topic and definitely after the result yesterday I let him get to me. I'll be back to taking the piss out of him shortly.

Hypo - did you notice both Lammy and Abbott voted against?

I did notice that and it gave me a chuckle. As racist and incompetent as I think they sometimes are, I think we all have nuance to us and there's normally shades of grey (apart from some posters on here who are 100% scumbags). Abbott in particular did a speech that I thought was the best I'd seen from her.

Will be interesting to revisit this thread over the next couple of years when the first lot of questionable death stories come out and when the rules are relaxed from the expected to die within six months standard.

This is what I took exception to. Where is the respect in these comments? “When” not “if”. As I have said before, only focussing on possible negatives that may or may not happen at some point in the future.

Death related? I wasn’t wishing him dead so I don’t see how it is offensive. Less inappropriate than posting laughing emojis on posts about dead Palestinians?

As has been pointed out to you more times than we pass it around at the back, the laughing emojis are aimed at the poster and not the content of the post.

Keep getting 'riled' by them and people will keep posting them.  Surely that's black and white enough for even you to comprehend?

Just saw that in reply to SOGs "Why would I think that anyone would delight in someone else dying in pain?"

Well, there was the time he raced on to score points when refugees were killed on a supposed safe route.

Then there was the time when he gleefully told us dead hostages were better off with Hamas.

Then there's the general inability to consider the suffering of others, with the trivialising of child abuse, faking racially motivated incidents during unrest and anti semitism.

And for the thousandth time, the emojis are aimed completely at the poster, not the content. That really seems to have got to him.

You can try and take the moral high ground hypo but most of us have long memories. The alt-right avatar. “Thank god my wife isn’t a Muslim”. “socialism is dangerous.” I have lost count of the number of times you have immediately jumped all over my posts when I have criticised  the likes of Tommy Robinson or Katie Hopkins (and then you pretended that you didn’t know who they are). You are and always have been a far right supporter/apologist even though you once said that you were “liberal”. You said earlier that I don’t believe what I say. Your opinions on here are the polar opposite to mine and yes, I do believe what I write.

Fortunately there are a lot more people with liberal sensibilities posting in the Lounge now, but a few years ago the main noises were you and a few others with far right sympathies, so I was pretty much on my own. I notice that you finally stopped stalking me around the time I wasn’t one of the very few liberal posters.

I have taken a lot of crap from you over the years and have given plenty back. Please don’t try and play the victim now.

Not for the first time you have made comments which you have been told are offensive and you flatly refuse to accept that you’ve said anything wrong. People know what you are, this nice guy act got seen through ages ago. You don’t care about people in Gaza, or assisted dying, or any of the other crusades you claim you’re on. It’s all about you, the mask of making you appear a nice guy or using this stuff to have a pop at other people who have a different view to you. People have seen through you.

Since when has saying to someone that this current bill about assisted dying is not mandatory been offensive? For a bunch of anti-woke warriors you lot have suddenly turned in to a bunch of snowflakes. And it is so unlike you lot be ever be offensive to others is it?

Always the same people. You dish it out but get precious when it comes back. Even Whelk didn’t find it offensive, which tells you all you need to know!

If any one of my posts on here offended a poster that I respected and wasn’t dishing it out themselves, I would worry about it.
