Three fucking full backs on the pitch and 2 more on the bench after a bench with 5 strikers and no defenders last week? Absolute clown.

I think he’s trying to get sacked. Or throwing in one of last season’s scapegoats to deflect attention.

I think you’re right.  I would sack him before 3 o’clock.

As a manager you’re asking for it if every lineup makes no sense, and you’re still getting dicked every week.

Starting Ryan manning for his first game at Arsenal away when you’ve got a prem experienced left back on the bench. Fucking joker. Can only get away with it if it actually works and it won’t

Most unlikely to get sacked after a loss to Arsenal, because the defeat is expected. Everton or Wolves look more like guillotine games.

Anyway, the Arsenal chap at work says we re their bogey team so we might pull off a surprise today.  Looking at the line-ups, er naaaah.

The Arsenal line up clearly says they don't believe we have any threat in behind so they're going to be a 3-3-4 and press hard onto our back 4. Unless we're going to play mid length passes into Stewart be prepared to see us lose the ball a LOT in the danger zone.

Utterly mental selecting Manning, he’s definitely trying to wind up the fans.

How anybody, anywhere with even the slightest understanding of the game would look and say playing Manning against Saka, Martinelli etc is credible, only someone who has the tactical know how of plankton would do something so utterly cretinous.

Russell Martin just fuck off you absolute nutter

Taylor is on the bench. But why he is benched and replaced by Ryan bloody Manning is beyond a joke.

It’s like a game of tag. KWP is replaced by Taylor, Taylor gets replaced by Manning and KWP comes back in we know not where?

Who on here actually enjoys their Saturdays anymore, serious question!

I hate being back in the Premier League. We all suspected we would be the weakest team and so it has come to pass.

A lot of my mates stopped going to Saints games a couple of seasons ago and started going to watch Eastleigh, apparently it's a lot less stressful.

I was asked last night will i watch todays game and i had no hesitation in saying why would i want to completely ruin my day. Instead i will probably watch the City v Fulham game.

Really don't get why Charlie Taylor has been dropped to the bench, he's been one of our best players in recent games. Glad to see KWP back in.

I am really past caring what this twat does. I've seen last minute "Hail Mary" substitutions but Ryan Manning. Behave!

So is manning going to play as a third CB, with KWP at LB or is he experimenting with KWP playing further forward as sort of right winger?

Either way, it's pretty clear he's just trying anything in tge hope of arriving at a successful set up, with no clear plan.

It'as like he decides the matchday squad by raffle.

We're seeing another example of him trying to be super-clever. Whatever happened to 'pick your best players and get them working together'?

He's not going to 'out coach ' Arteta today, or any other.

It can't be easy for the players with the constant chopping and changing of approach.

Think I'll need a beer pretty soon.

I've decided not to bother watching the game today and I've taken the kids upto watch Eastleigh v Forest Green Rovers.

Only madmen and masochistics would want to watch today's inevitable unfolding horror show

Hello, long time lurker, first time poster here.

That's a weird line up for sure. Maybe a 451 with Manning as a LM. I really very hope he isn't playing lb as he's not even championship level there defensively

So Manning starts and Lallana gets benched when if ever there was a game we needed him this is it….

RM defies all logic on many levels.

Lallana is the absolute last player I’d be starting in a game like this. We’re going to need to match them for intensity in midfield and he has nowhere near the fitness to be able to do that.

BBC are going with this line up. It’s possible I suppose, if mental. But BBC often get their predicted formations wrong.

Regardless of formation, starting Manning over Taylor is madness and is surely only happening for reasons other than tactics or footballing ability

It was clear that he’d lost it at Bournemouth. The bloke is turning fucking mental in the same way as Nath. Ryan Manning away at Arsenal 😂😂😂

I really don't understand this, Taylor has a wealth of pl experience too and been one of our best players in recent games. Manning needs to step up today.

Didn’t he say he deserved his chance when dropping KWP for him?

Well that chance lasted 2 games 🤦‍♂️

Also it confuses players. What do they need to do to get a spot and keep it?

If a player gets a spot on merit, then plays well, he keeps it. But not with Russell Baldrick, he's a rule unto himself.

I think he got his sentence wrong. What he thought he said, "I'm managing in the Premier League" not "I'm a Premier League Manager" There's a world of difference.

Hi. My first post on here. I'm not that great at analysing formations, I just try and enjoy the football, which is pretty challenging at the moment - but I'm at a complete loss to understand RMs decisions. Is he a complete charlatan or have I missed something?

I clearly don't understand this football thing if Ryan "a bit too shit for the championship" Manning is our saviour.
