benali-shorts Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 They keep absolutely pinging it at Dibling, it's impossible for him. Very tough ask making him play this role through the middle 5

It’s poor from the officials but also inexcusable in the top 2 divisions to be switched off like that. I don’t think the squad is anywhere near fit enough mentally or physically which is part of the issue. Time for Poch style double training sessions.

die Mannyschaft Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 Too slow. We can't compete just on the basis that our game is to slow things down, stop and look. No urgency and don't like to take long shots. Why is Dibling not on the wing. 2
RedArmy Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 Get me back in the championship, this league is shit. 2
Saint Fan CaM Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 Our players starting to get frustrated and taking cards now. Utterly shit set-up trying to get to half-time at 0-0. Of course a home goal was always going fuck that idea right up.
lambtiss Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 So, the one thing that was working really well in the last few games was Dibling on the wing. So, what does RM do? Moves him.... 1
saintant Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 Tyler struggling through middle - maybe swap him and Cornet. 1

The real problem is Downes and Ugochukwu turning their back like schoolboys 1

Saint NL Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 Midfield is all wrong, we need Lallana on to get a foot on the ball.
Lighthouse Posted 30 September, 2024 Author Posted 30 September, 2024 1 minute ago, washsaint said: Goal should never have stood - the ball was miles from the foul spot and still moving. But what is that bloody lineup he's put out there? No striker and why sign COrnet? He looks as useless as AA and BBD. It wasn’t moving and the ball was, if anything, further from the goal than where the foul took place. Neither of those are excuses, we were just naive and asleep for a set piece. 4

Ipswich don’t have a miles better squad but look at their performance yesterday, playing to the strengths of the players they have. Funnily enough competing well even if they ultimately go down. There ought to be an option that clubs can win promotion and enjoy the day but elect to stay down and pass the promotion to the next cub down the rankings. No fun being whipped every week.

SambaMaverick Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 Bournemouth having the better possession and controlling the tempo perfectly with their press Martin getting shown up by a bloke who's chilling in the stands with a jug of sangria 1

Farmer Saint Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 I think we're being shown here why we play in a specific way - because trying to play a different way does not work.

We started fine against United, maybe few tweaks here and there and we'd have a decent-ish team. Russ, nah fuck it I'll take all our strikers off, stick Cornet/Dibling up front. Fuck. Sake. 1

madge Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 When you play without a striker… your gonna be on the back foot from the off.. the Bournemouth coaching set up would have been laughing.. were absolutely rudderless. Martin I think now needs to go
Sheaf Saint Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 (edited) This is fucking awful to watch. I've been very reluctant to start calling for a managerial change just yet, cos I thought Russ deserved a chance to show he can adapt to the PL. But just what the fuck is this formation he's put out there tonight? No recognised striker on the pitch but 5 on the bench, and seemingly just instructing the whole team to pass it to a crowded out Dibling at every opportunity. He's doing himself no favours at all. Edit: And there's 2-0. Fuck off Russ. Edited 30 September, 2024 by Sheaf Saint 2
BotleySaint Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 Playing as if RM has just said in the dressing room. "Just do whatever you want"
Saint Gifford Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 I admire him for stick to a principle. However he is not Pep who tbf is making a couple of errors himself. Nothing against our team, but we are not world class Champions League winners. Please can we play the Saints way, oh dear just conceded goodnight…,,
SNSUN Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 Trouble is, we knew we were going down this season so do we stick with Martin hoping he'll sort it long term or make the change the manager and try to fight for the right to stay in the League. We have decent enough players we just seem to struggle to find a combination that works. Over reliance on an (admittedly talented) 18 year old will not keep us in the league. And thats 2 nil.
