Next up Arsenal away (loss) then Leicester at home (would be a must win game) and Man City away (loss). I think he'll be lucky to be our manager on 2nd November when Everton come to town. That being said, could another manager keep this squad up? It's definitely in the bottom three in terms of Premier League quality, but would a change in manager give us the fight to scrap out the points needed for survival? I'm not convinced. The only way that another manager could keep us up IMO would be by playing a completely different brand of football to the one Sports Republic want us to play, which is why I don’t see them getting rid of RM. Say for example Moyes came in, he’d set us up hard to beat, he’d want a new centre half, want us to be strong in the centre of the pitch, playing a lot more direct with 2 strikers through the middle. Even if Russ did get the boot they’ll just replace him with some chai latte drinking hipster from the championship that’s obsessed with possession based football, who isn’t up to the task and we’ll just rinse and repeat this whole scenario within a year.
AlexLaw76 Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 What minute will we get done but fannying around with the ball and they just break away and score?

Chewy Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 I’m not too down on the team, but the bench is definitely wtf Lallana has been excellent but he does the same job as Downes. Lesley has the energy and physicality we need, and Fernandes the creativity from an advanced spot. I like all 4 but when choosing a 3 for the correct balance, it probably needs to be Lallana or Downes that drop out. Defence is fine, I would personally have left Fraser as a sub but he’ll enjoy being the pantomime villain and may be inspired a little. I don’t see what Archer did especially wrong against Ipswich though. I’d probably have gone him up front and Cornet wide. The bench, though!!! No Centre back although Taylor can slot in via KWP but that’ll impact the whole defensive balance. No winger - obviously ArmA, BBD and KWP could play there (Archer and Stewart also?) but they’re not wingers and KWP is already covering 4 places. Bizarre not to have a cb, surprising to see Onuachu and annoying not to have wide options. But her’s hoping anyway …
Saint Fan CaM Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 COYS! Rip ‘em a new one. Or something.
Saint NL Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 Bournemouth can't even put on a light show for a local "derby". Pathetic
CB Fry Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 Just an unlucky deflection away from a point or something.
whelk Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 These fuckers often choke against their bigger rivals
Saint Fan CaM Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 Looks like Cornet is on the right?!?
Saint Fan CaM Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 Fuck me I was right - he’s going 4-6-0
Farmer Saint Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 (edited) Looking good, and playing a different type of football by the look of things. More urgency. Edited 30 September, 2024 by Farmer Saint
Saint Fan CaM Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 So far it looks like we’re ok…less risk taking…but of course much less possession.
CB Fry Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 Bournemouth are not on us like Brentford were.

Colinjb Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 Downes struggling. Thankfully we have like for like options on the bench. 1
CB Fry Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 It's OK lads. Right back in the swing of fucking suicide ball.
Disco Stu Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 Some high risk low reward football there 🤦♂️
Saint_clark Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 Ramsdale learnt from Dibling in training this week, great little shimmy past his man. 😳
AlexLaw76 Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 Dibbling through the middle is stupid 1

Fair enough football is about taking risks, but we take a huge risk at the back and gain what? A 6 yard pass to another defender or to a midfielder with his back to play. 3

When we break the press we just pass it straight back putting our defenders under pressure. Playing into Bournemouth's hands.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 And there it is. Bournemouth shite? Nope. 1
BotleySaint Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 Can I be the first to say, game over.
SouSaint Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 Fucking abysmal defending. THB is Championship shite.
AlexLaw76 Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 (edited) Of course, their new lad scores Martin out Edited 30 September, 2024 by AlexLaw76
OttawaSaint Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 Guy who hasn't scored...scores... So Saintsy! 1
HarvSFC Posted 30 September, 2024 Posted 30 September, 2024 So that's what happens when take a free-kick quickly. Will never see us do that, we go back to Bednarek when the defence has set up. 1
