The thing is, whatever comes out in the second half, we've just thrown away another game against supposedly weaker opposition. It's just not good enough. Really does look like he's completely out of his depth and if that is the case we may as well sack him now - don't waste Leicester at home as well.

I was prepared to stick with Martin provided we were competitive in matches but the way the team is set up tonight is idiotic.

Dibling and Fernandes hung out to dry. One of our best players, KWP, wasted on the bench.

Changing the shape and set up constantly.

I presume the intention was for Dibling and Fernandes to pick it up between the lines and for Fraser and Cornet to run beyond them. Worked OK for ten minutes but it goes to shit if you can't find those deep forwards and leaves us exposed.

Needlessly complicated. Play a striker, allow the back 4 to look for him, have Cornet running off him instead. Have Fraser on the bench, not KWP who is far, far better.

i know an egotist that is stopping me being interested in football. Hopefully he’ll be sacked in the morning.

Yeah, thank f**k that happened. The 3 wins, 2 draws and 8 defeats since then have been a breath of fresh air.

Strange to include games that happened after promotion when discussing us getting promoted.

That was tactically one of the worst halves from a Saints side I’ve witnessed. The most inability to change from possession based football is amateur from Martin. The back 4 can’t advance up the pitch. Bournemouth are laughing here. Easiest 3 points they’ll ever get.

At least Martin is gone now. And please don’t get Potter can we get someone who presses? This squad would be made for that style.

This no strikers approach really has legs.  Pump the ball up into their half with no-one in their half......pure genius.

This has been beyond embarrassing and is, in many ways, worse than the 9-0s under Ralph.

I thought Cornet was meant to be in the middle but he's been playing right wing like BBD. That was never going to work.

With Ralph's 9-0s, I always felt we could win the next game. But I really can't see who's going to score our goals. This really is quite desperate and I still maintain our players aren't this shit. They're just being made to look slow, uninspired and shit. By whom?

That good?? You're generous.

Dibling has also been kicked out of the game, someone on here predicted that a couple of weeks ago too.  Les I don't see the fascination with, YET, maybe I'm missing something? Walker-Peters not being on the pitch is criminal.  Yes we all loved Fraser last year, but he shouldn't be playing at this level. And then we have 3 players from 2 relegated teams who went down without a fight in the squad. Amazing recruitment. The club (as a whole) has really fked this up with piss poor recruitment and extending Martin's contract.

Les is languid, loses players and doesn't run back. He's not great.

Recruitment was fucking awful, but we were always going to have issues due to PSR.

Wow this is bad. The manager absolutely refuses to change his system no matter what. The players have completely lost confidence in it, especially playing from the back constantly no matter what the situation. They are tentative and don't seem to know what to do. This is on the manager in my opinion. Play a system your players can play

Even stranger to ignore literary all the wins that got us to within a couple of points of the autos when he got injured.

p.s. You’d have slaughtered him for letting in that third tonight.

I think he read the posts on here saying Dibling should play through the middle.

I haven't clocked those.  But you'd hope Martin would know better.

Not really, as I believe we'd have been in the automatics with another keeper in goal all season, even McCarthy.

Yeah, it's the fans fault :mcinnes:

Didn't say it was, I'm putting it on the manager and the players. The fact our fans seem to be entitled pricks is just frustrating though.

In Glen Hoddle’s brief tenure he would make changes after a few minutes if things weren’t working. The writing was on the wall before the first goal went in and yet nothing perceptible has changed.

Gorman made the changes, Hoddle without Gorman was shit.

Perhaps we could get ten Hag.

That's bullshit. There are experienced gems abroad, Fernandes for one.

Bournemouth, Brighton, Brentford and more have done it for years.

We've signed shite or RM's mates (shite)

This is special, even by our abysmally low standards.

Could we be watching the worst side in Premier League history?

That right there is my big fear. We need 11 more points to prove we’re not.

Both 9-0s were Mike Dean / fatty boy mason infested.

That is the most hopeless half I've ever seen a saints side play I think. Bournemouth could score at will every attack of they had better players. We should be 6-0 down, not 3-0.

Having four centre forwards on the bench, then playing two up top, where one is an out of position midfielder and one is an out of position winger.

Genuinely one of the maddest things I've ever seen at this level.

Apparently the last time B'Muff scored 3 in the first half it ended 3-3. Can anyone really see Saints even getting into the final third 3 times?

We won't manage 3 shots let alone score 3 goals, no chance. So bad are we I would actually be impressed if we lost this one 3 - 0.

I mean, hear me out. We could have played an unchanged team.

To be fair everyone lost their mind last week when we didn't beat Ipswich, so why wouldn't he change the team?

SR choosing not to have a Director of Football remains unfathomable. Recruitment appalling. Possession-based strategy naive. Martin a sitting duck in the PL.

Yeah this all day long. It’s a fucking tough ask for anyone but he’s not helping himself. I’d roll the dice, not expecting anyone to keep us up but at least get us properly competing.

Yeah, we've signed shit players, but we were always going to struggle when we don't have the wage structure to buy experienced players to surround those like Fernandes. You can't sign a team of 20 year old from abroad that might make it.

I think the squad is limited. But it's better than what we've seen tonight. RM seems to have actually lost it.

This is the key for me. If you know you're squad has serious limitations then at least set yourself up to be hard working and difficult to beat. But that seems to be beyond Martin's comprehension.

We simply don't have the players to play the way he wants to play in the PL. And he's utterly incapable of seeing that, it seems.

Can’t defend, can’t score and the midfield is non existent - think you are right.

I don’t think we know how good these players are or could be. He has sent on 11 boys without the confidence and structure to know what to do when something challenging happens. Completely lost it dropped further back and just hoped they could stop them playing. Truly amateur stuff by Martin

My expectations tonight were low, but fuck me that first half was as bad as anything since the 9-0.

At least the club were sensible enough to see how Russ got on in the Prem before doing something silly like givng him a contract extension that would result in costing us more money if we sack him. Oh…

Have to say big Les wasn't paying attention for 1st goal and defended like he was drunk for the 3rd.

No ball rention, no "pausa" or whatever it's called, just us to the half way line and give it away.

Absolutely, just stand in front of the ball walk backwards slowly when the ref makes you. Never turn your back in that situation.

What a ridiculous and unnecessarily tragic first half

Dibling in a position he is easier to mark out of the game.

Les clearly not up to EPL standard ATM.

Cornett  utter waste of space, what were they thinking loaning him

On the bench KWP and five strikers. In the stands an international CH.

Utter madness, 2nd half will be a difficult watch
