pingpong Posted Wednesday at 12:36 Share Posted Wednesday at 12:36 Certainly gary o Neil would be an appointment to demonstrate how things could get even worse. Would be similar to the nathan jones appointment in that we would know he is doomed from day 1, will give us some terrible moments and then be off again in a couple of months. What would be the point of paying of a manager if you couldn't afford anyone better. Not sure about that. The word was SR hadn't been looking for a replacement because they intended to stick with RM. Obviously this all changed on Sunday out of the blue - I reckon Dragan was watching the Spurs game and, after the 4th goal went in, he was straight on the blower to Rasmus saying he wanted Martin gone. Pretty much spot on that, even pre-game i was told that SR weren't intending to sack Martin for a number of reasons, the first being cost, the second being that they didn't think they could attract the right manager given the position we are in, and the third being they didn't think they had anyone capable enough as interim manager. But that changed due to the first half performance against spurs and as @Turkish has said he was pretty much fired at half time. I'm absolutely sure had it only be 1-0 or 2-0 he'd still have a job. It's also worth noting people in the club are very, very aware of how fucked we are at the moment and it's not a nice environment to be working in.
Saint86 Posted Wednesday at 13:12 Share Posted Wednesday at 13:12 (edited) I'm happy with Rohl... never wanted Ralph sacked and at least Rohl will take us back in that direction and has a reasonable level of pedigree behind him (for a new manager) with Ralph, Bayern, and now at Wednesday. I hope it will help to a degree that he has some familiarity with the club (albeit SR have well and truly dismantled the academy, scouting, coaching, and playing setups since his time here 😃😆). I just hope we can keep our hands on Dibling somehow. Maybe Lallana will give him some advice on making yourself at a lower level before stepping up. Unfortunatley the big issue there is that in the nonsensical world of PSR, clubs are encourage to trade their youth players like cattle... A model that Rasmus is all in on. Once again we are trying to be too clever or cheap again. The chat on here seems like we have all been slapped down so much lately we are talking ourselves into the mindset of he could do a job. I would like to understand why this time will be different from Jones, Selles and Martin. Moyes may not be certain success but at least you know he can do it. Someone like this even from overseas is what we need. Money talks. I’m sure we could get someone better than those suggested and available so far. I feel we are about to climb on the next rollercoaster. If we were having this conversation 2+ months ago I’d have agreed, but the chances of getting anyone reputable in at this stage are so slim. SR should’ve pulled the trigger ages ago before we were so cut adrift and certain of relegation.

Exactly, anyone who takes the job now needs to be willing to manage in the championship next season as that is where we will be for this reason the Potters and Moyes of this world won't be coming we would have needed a reasonable shot at survivable to stand any hope of attract that type of manager. Rohl will be managing in the Championship next season if he joins us or not so he has to look at next season and which club gives him the best opportunity to be successful and step up to the next level.
