I wouldn't mind Carrick - but just seen Wet Spam are in for him. 

One thing's for sure, our pool of options gets smaller the longer we faff about. I'm in little doubt that wolves or west ham will be in for a manager within the next few days.

Saints have tried to hire Steve Cooper twice before, so I do wonder if we might still have some interest to revisit there. Let's face it, his career is also at a point where if (when...) we go down, he wouldn't be in a position to bail out and leave us high and dry. He'd need to stay and bring us back up to get his stock rising again

It's El-Sackio tomorrow. WHU v Wolves, loser of that is gone. So one of those two will be searching in the pool next week.

I think we tried again since Crocker left, but maybe my dates are off. Would assume Crocker wouldn’t have got the go-ahead to try if there wasn’t some appreciation for SC amongst the board members though

I’m all for moyes .. but wouldn’t big Sam be a fairly decent alternative ? I mean for A club  with our current  problems he’s kinda like the polar opposite of martins fannying around he’s used to getting more out of struggling sides I’m sure many would  prefer the snobby hipster choices ..  but he’s about as proven as you could get for getting more out of a struggling Side and takes a defense first approach

Someone wrote on one of threads that the agents of Potter and Moyes had been contacted and turned us down. Totally believable but talk to the organ grinder. If I was in the SR hierarchy, I would be getting their direct contact numbers and speaking to them direct not their agents.

Yes, in our current situation we're a hard sell, but ultimately, if you're a manager wanting a 'turned it around and now look at us' club on your CV, you can make a good case for Southampton FC being that club.

Eureka!  I know a manager who has successful experience of getting EPL relegation candidates to safety year after year and who has gone to a relegation-threatened side in the German Bundesliga and kept them up, too, and got them up to 5th place this season.  He favours two defensive midfielders, an aggressive high press and about 40% possession and his style of play can hardly be described as slow and tedious.  Oh, wait; perhaps he might not get on too well with SR.

 I’ll have another think.  🤔

It will be interesting to see when they sack him and it’s when not if.

We are so uncompetitive it’s very possible we won’t win again this year and it will start to get very toxic for all concerned over Xmas and I can’t see him making it through that period.

That said I have no faith in any new  appointment by SR and I think anyone with an ounce of talent would give us a wide beth as we look like a circus so we will be looking to the Championship again I expect

Rafa is a good pragmatic manager and would be a good choice, not sure if he'd want to come to Southampton though...

Premier League Win Percentages:

Lampard 41%

Gerrard 32.5%

Cooper 18%

Steve Cooper is very unlike Martin in the sense that he employs no tactics, there's no patterns of play and it's generally all just a mess. Would still be an improvement on RM, but surely we can do better by just taking a punt on a foreign coach?

i'd imagine Wolves might also see him as an option, plus he doesn't fit the hipster leftfield type manager we'd go after.

Benitez seems unrealistic in terms of this idiot Board, but I think he’d consider coming to Southampton if we approached. We would likely offer considerably more lolly than Celta Vigo and he wants to come back to English football. Isn’t Jorge Mendes heavily involved with Wolves, and I think he’s Jose’s agent. Nuno Espírito Santo was a Jose player & Mendes got him the gig. Of all the English clubs, Wolves is the only one I could see him turning up at now.

Cooper was a terrible choice for Leicester & would be a terrible choice for Southampton. He doesn't have the tactical nous to change or influence games !!
