To be honest nothing will happen until the fans voice their displeasure inside the ground at least. All I ever see is idiots applauding the team off when we've just lost yet another game.

If this story that no one wants the job is true (I don’t think it is) but saying it is, perhaps the “expert” board have said to the potential candidate that they must continue to play the ludicrous tactics being used at moment and any sensible coach/ manager would say no

Who realistically takes this job?

It will have to be another Mark Hughes style appointment - chuck a shit load of cash at someone like Moyes. Or just plan for next season and hire someone who can get us promoted again.

Or maybe, just maybe, they don't want what is a very likely relegation on their CV.

Worst team in division + no money to spend = No good Managers interested

Not saying he wouldn't be an upgrade if he was interested (which he isn't) but the last time he had a team of Championship players in the Prem it went very badly...

We’re going down anyway so I’m not overly bothered what they do to be honest. Seems like lunacy not to roll the dice now though, we might as well take a punt on someone because it can’t really get much worse.

This! however if they really had anyone decent lined up they would have got them in long ago..... Prepare to be underwhelmed as they say!

It's the only reason he survived past Leicester.

Absolutely pathetic way to run a football club. Can't sack the current incumbent who is dog shit bad, because we can't attract anyone who is perceived to be any better. Sport Republic are just totally inept as owners.

BTW, Lopetegui is a 'be careful what you wish for' story.

Well, normally I'd agree, but considering we're already bottom of the league having managed the grand total of 0 shots on target and xG of 0.6 against the 2nd bottom team in the league, we literally can't get much worse....😅

What like when we sacked Ralf, replaced him with Jones and then sacked him and replaced him with Ralf’s assistant! I do not trust the clowns in charge to make the right changes.

It would be interesting to see which players would make a starting eleven or a match day squad if a new manager came in.

You see it all the time, players frozen out by one particular manager and suddenly they start every game and hit rich form, but because of the previous managers stubbornness it’s bitten them on the arse.

An example, which CBs would be playing? Would we play with a front two? Etc etc.

Now you know why it’s pointless changing the manager. Those that think things will get better with a new manager will be disappointed.

Once Ralph left, we expected a step up in manager and look what happened. Expect the same again if RM is sacked .

But Russell Martin was an improvement on Selles or do you not think so?

I don't understand this argument that every new manager is always worse than the one he replaces, and that idea in itself is a reason to stay with the shit manager we have.

We're bottom of the league on one win and seven goals. Honestly there is no scenario where things get worse.

So we keep him forever despite him being absolutely terrible......OK 🙄

If there is no one out there better than our current clown then we are truly screwed

But he won't stay - he quit Sunderland because he wouldn't manage in the Championship - in which case he's not the Manager to bring in if he were interested.

Are you talking about Moyes? If so, surely a contract to the end of the season, with a fuck off massive bonus if we stay up. Both parties would then have the close season to explore options. If we don't stay up, he walks away and doesn't have to manage in the Championship.

Yeah, but I was answering @aintforever who said we're going done anyway, so in that situation what is the point? If we're wedded to that fact then we should bring someone in who we think can get us out of the Championship next season rather than waste money on someone that won't keep us up and won't be here next season.

It's irrelevant anyway, he's not interested.

I don't agree, we had nothing positive in the second half of the 2022-2023 season and we still got promoted last season. This may be why SR aren't rushing RMs sacking as they see him as the best option to get us promoted next year, as he did it last year?

However, it would be nice to see us actually have some shots and do something. It would also be good to bring in the Manager we plan to have in the Championship and to at least give him half a season in the Prem to bed in his philosophy.

What worked (just) last season is not necessarily going to work again. The best that we could hope for would be playoffs and that is not a serious plan. There were spells where we struggled and even the all-hallowed unbeaten run didn’t yield all that many points.

But we didn't finish with such a low total of points as we will if we carry on like this,

scar tissue would be a blessing but it feel like the skin has been horsewhipped of your back

If that is the logic SR are attributing to anything, then they're even worse than I imagined.

Last season was honestly not cracked up to the fanfare it got. I was never convinced. Promotion surprised me as I didn't think we ever looked like a promotion side, just a good Championship side. Lots of draws, lots of fluky last min wins, some absolute thrashings by teams we were supposed to be on a level with.

Our squad is caught in this bubble at the moment - full of players who are very good at Champ level, but ultimately total failures at the top level. Eventually that will erode though if we can't build a squad to compete at this level, and we'll just become a pretty poor Championship side - ala Stoke.

If that truly is the case, St Marys will be half empty next season. To keep a manager in a job when the team got relegated without putting up a fight, is complete insanity. Do SR really think fans will accept Martin here next season if we do find ourselves back in the Championship?

It's no guarantee, but it is the best indicator, otherwise wouldn't everyone just sack their Managers every season?

But would we finish that way with the Manager we plan to get promoted with as per my second paragraph? I'm guessing we could do a little bit better.

I think managed a huge 13 points in our last 25 matches last time we went down with Jones and Selles in charge. Better than now, but only marginally.

We are on course to barely reach that after 38 games.

The idiot spoke about scar tissue last year while we were getting regularly and soundly beaten last season, you can bet your left bollock he wont mention it next season as it will be his fucking fault..... Teflon shoulders

God forbid we still have the fraud next season

I don't think many people want him here next season, but the point is the same. We averaged 0.52 PPG over the last 25 games that season. This season it's 0.36 and likely one awful refereeing decision in the Leicester game away from 0.63 PPG.

Either way, what we are doing now is really not that different to then.

As said though, it would be good to bring in a Manager that will be here next season to get us, hopefully, re-promoted.

The next run of games is brutal so we could quite easily lose the next 6 or 7 in a row before West Ham at home on Boxing day at which point if we're still on 4 points surely the crowd will be furious.

The only slightly credible 'plan' might be to let Martin take the flak for losing all these games we'd probably have lost anyway and then get someone in for next season when we're already down after Christmas.

It was a poor decision but why do you not mention the clueless game management by Martin in 2nd half and it repeats itself every week.

Our PPG, for what its worth will be barely on the scale if we carry on

I’m not saying that. But would you trust Rasmus to appointment a quality manager ? Or will he try and be clever again and continue experimenting ?

Ive had enough of his experiments. Get rid of him and then replace RM.
