I would love us to get rid of RM this morning and have a new one in place by lunchtime.

Unfortunately, I don’t trust Sport Republic to make the right appointment.

Expectation is someone of Graham Potter levels, realty is they’ll probably get Lampard or Rooney.

My expectation, if it happens, is that it will be someone nobody has ever heard of.

Unfortunately for all of us, he needs to know far more than the opposition managers too.

He knows more about the game than any of us on here.

Unfortunately, none of us are managing in the premier league, and the people who are know far more about the game than Lego fucking head does.

That's unfair.  There are lots of highly capable people in the Championship and League One with a serious claim too.

The way we play at the moment, if you'd said he'd forgotten more about football than I'll ever know, I might have believed you.

Preach Lucy! Our idiot dissident element cannot ever comprehend the abilities of our great leader and the vanguard. They are guilty of doublethink for questioning the endless passing and lack of shooting, and should be sent to the fanzone gulag archipelago's to be re-educated on the Newspeak of xP (passing) and retention.

Only then will they realise that the ONLY way is the Martin WAY (tm) and settle back with a nice drink of Kool Aid and a soothing chant of OOOOOOOM to honour our great god, overlord and innovative footballing leader.

ALL HEIL MARTIN, MARTIN IS OUR KING.

ONWARDS! FOR MARTIN, PASSING AND STATSTICS!

Obviously I know we're not going to get Amorim, but just read this article about him - humble, always trying to learn and improve, and most importantly, with the same squad and players, overachieves.

We should be trying to find the next Amorim, not sticking with someone who does none of the above.

Agreed. But this strikes me as part of the problem that SR think they can be identify someone to become the next great thing, but end up with someone less than average.

After the draw, they were interviewing Ruud van Nistelrooy.

He was in a black pullover and had stubble. So 2 of the key SR requirements right there.

If he's not part of the incoming coaching set up there, he must be on our radar now. Obviously, he'll have to ditch that high scoring nonsense he was doing tonight.

100% win record as well. It was those kinds of numbers that got Ole the job. Can't see the powers that be at Man United letting him go with that kind of record.

A little harsh on van Nistelrooy to lose the position after winning every single game and so the door closes on Russell Martin at Man Utd. I hear Sporting Lisbon are looking for a young progressive coach.

I know most of you know this but Kompany was like Bayerns 7th/8th choice for manager after quite a few turned them down, it was a pure fluke he got that job.

They wanted before him Alonso, Ragnwick, Nagelsmann,Glasner, tried to keep Tuchel when their search was going to shit and were interested in Flick, De Zerbi.

Maybe Ruud Van Nistelrooy?

I'd say 2 things about Ruud as manager at PSV:

1. He had a front 3 that season of Gakpo (left in Jan), Simmons and Madueke (left in Jan) at PSV and came 2nd to Feyenoord.

2. Peter Bosz took over after Ruud fell out over transfer budget (they didnt buy any great players with their sales) and they lost 1 game all season in the league and are currently played 10 won 10 this season.

This thread has gone very quiet in the last week.

I’m sure it’ll reignite depending on the Wolves game.

I think most are resigned to sports republic sticking with Russell regardless of what happens. There's no doubt in my mind he'll relegate us.

Increasing apathy, acceptance that this SR lot don’t know what they are doing

Day by day there seems to be more reports of players coming out saying how much they like working with him, how we’re “nearly there”, signed because of him etc etc.

It’s nice to hear actually.

Why? Makes me want to throw up. The shite he spouted about Armstrong after the weekend was particularly cringeworthy.

That's just standard shit - happens at all clubs that are facing adversity and poor performances.

TBF, there is a lot you can level at RM, and deservedly, but he is widely known for being an excellent man manager, and that the players do tend to  like him.

Well he can't come out and say he was shit all game but popped up with a nice finish. Wouldn't do much for his confidence.

True, but he can say he was really happy about the run he made, position he took up and finish for the goal. He could praise his tracking back. He could also say how he's working with Armstrong to add to his game to be more effective out wide.

A bit like Eddie Howe, a good man manager but I wouldn’t say tactically he’s anything special. Just a bit of a shit house.

Perhaps the players get highly praised for tapping the ball sideways and backwards which they find is easy . No wonder they 'like' him 😄
