(JWP) ..if he was " bang average"... how come there aren't more players with 16, 15 or 14 free-kicks still around trailing after him?.

David Moyes knew JWP capabilities when he bought him, but they already had a couple of regular players taking free kicks.

Prowsey's performances  at WHam weren't bad at all. He scored half-dozen times and gave good assists and scored direct from

a corner in one game at the end of last season.    After Moyes was sacked, their new manager didn't see a place in his plans, and 

now Prowsey is on loan at Forest (who seem to be doing alright) and so it's no surprise that he has difficulty in getting a starting place. 

 

Forest are doing amazingly well considering their struggles after getting back up, so why use a loan player if your own are DAJF you?

IMO.... JWP always looked good going forward in an attacking role for us, but after Romeu left , JWP was forced into that defensive MF

role which " physically-speaking"  isn't ideal for someone  10 stone and 5'8" but his possession and distribution were the best in the club.

Every player can perform well - if played favourably in his best  position, but giving someone a shirt number and expecting them to 

perform -  just because they get 20 minutes at the back end of a game - isn't always a good indication as to their real quality.

 

Managers who have to put subs. on ...because their plan A  isn't working,  shouldn't be seen as a condemnation of those thrown

on in desperation who don't win the game for you.   It's the manager's can to carry, that's why we finally sacked  Russell Martin. 

I noted that Juric was very keen on keeping Les U.... because he can see a role for him in his planning ... not so RM ..who ignored him.

Trousers' pockets are full of receipts and nobody is safe from his meticulous record-keeping.

Used to be a time when a member could post all manner of drivel and cherry-pick the best ones to flaunt on a later thread, like they were some kind of footballing nostradamus. Not anymore.

(Mind you, that doesn't seem to discourage some from carrying on - see above for several examples)

Sheffield Wednesday owner has confirmed we made an approach for Rohl but it was rejected. Sounds like he wanted to come and it seems they've fallen out. 

Watch this space for the summer?

Possibly, but presumably the rejection was that we weren’t prepared to pay the compensation demanded.

As for the summer I always felt that Juric is a temporary appointment.

But in Saints fashion, expect Leicester to sack Van Nistlerooy, and appoint Rohl, whilst we sit idly by.

I do get the feeling that Dragan installed Juric, who he trusts, to review the set up at Saints.  Juric has been around in football for some time and probabaly knows a thing or two about what a bad football club looks like and maybe he had something to do with why Dragan removed Kraft. I also think Juric will leave in the summer and Rohl will take over.  At least that is my hope.

Well after the Sheffield Wednesday owner’s meltdown overnight I can’t see Rohl wanting to put up with that next season. That said, will be a very acrimonious one if we do hire him as you can’t see Chansiri taking it quietly

Juric said yesterday we can build something special but needs time, gives me the impression he wants to stick around past the end of the season.

same, he's done well with clubs of our size in Italy and comes across well. I dont think he'll take any shit off the players too who IMO alot of them have had an easy ride with their pal Rusty

This struck me as well however his biggest challenge is the fans view of him come the end of the season if we continue to lose games in the manner of Brentford.

Ted Bates kind of did it here as did McMenemy, it didn’t end particularly well but I wouldn’t call it “insane” myself.

I can 100% see something like this too.  My original thought was that Juric's contract break was there for a definite reason and that he would WANT to leave at the end of relegation, but I'm no longer so sure after the recent changes.

Interesting times ahead. I just hope it starts to translate onto the pitch ...

The problem is Saints have taken six points from a possible 60 and the cause looks hopeless even if Juric won’t and can’t say it.

Derby 11, Sunderland 15, Sheffield Utd 16, Huddersfield 16, Sunderland and Portsmouth both 19, have posted the lowest ever Premier League points totals.

Southampton have 18 games left to try and overhaul the worst teams in the history of the competition. This source from skys report on our plight,dire at best.

Most obvious one I can think of (because of the ralph connection) is ralf rangnick 🤷. 

Also, Klopp is essentially DoF for the redbull group, "global head of football" to be exact... 

I would guess that prominant top level managers (who are by inspection near the top of their game) tend to stay as managers as it's what makes them successful and is their bread and butter livelihood etc. Whilst less known managers probably slip under the radar (as do most DoF in fairness).

Ivan been pretty damning the team so far. Said some of them not in shape, said they lack mentality, criticised last nights sub and said we only had was it 17 players who are competitive. Its all stuff that people said when Martin was here so interesting he agrees.

Fair play to him. He's got a reputation for speaking his mind (as per that amazing video where he's about to spark out his DOF) and he probably thinks that in the situation he's inherited he's got absolutely nothing to lose by calling out the mess he's now seeing. I like him more and more.

This was taken eight years ago. 

He's gone from looking like a young De Niro to a retired bin man in under a decade. Football is clearly a tougher business than it looks. 

Give him another season at Saints and he'll be looking like Uncle Albert before he hits 50.
