I wonder how he'll do if he likes a target man and our only two are Stewart who has a default state of being injured, and Onuachu who may have already decided he's leaving in January. I guess we could buy one but Sport Republic may not be interested in spending in January.

Fucking Blackmore shit himself when he had to ask Lego a mildly awkward question. From the look of this bloke he’s going to be gibbering wreck in the after match interview.

I don’t know anything about the bloke, but I’m confident he won’t be any worse than the last one, and there’s no way it can be as boring….

Blackmore is a decent local reporter. You have to strike the right balance when dealing with the club. If you are too "awkward" with your questioning you won't last long.  I would imagine that you would be lucky to last one Presser!

Danny Rohl's just done a press conf for the first time since all the rumours surfaced...

"I think the most important key point is that I’m here, that I’l take the game tomorrow," Röhl told the media.

"It’s always an honour when you’re linked with Premier league clubs, and people know my history (at Southampton), it was a part of my life. But the most important key point is the game tomorrow.

"My decision is clear, I will stay here at Sheffield Wednesday.

"The club knows my ambitions, I think we have agreed that we want to improve and attack higher positions in the table and we know what that means in January…

"I’m here, I love this club, I love the supporters and I love my team. We’ve achieved a lot, but our journey is not over. We’ll try to keep improving as a team."

Sounds like he has some guarantees about spending in Jan to me.

That and it’s early on in his management career, better for him to build them for top 6-10 and see if their unpredictable owner will buy in further over the summer. Big club and stadium, potential is there.

Wasn’t the spion kop one if the biggest terraces in the country before they covered it? It certainly looked it.

I think it's actually a very sensible move. If he works out, great, we extend. If it doesn't, thanks very much and we can start afresh in the summer. Win/Win

We try to extend you mean and he finds a bigger club, but the argument is academic as it seems early reports of a 6 month contract were wrong, thankfully.

I think the Holte End might have beaten it for capacity, although that was a more conventional shape. Biggest terrace of the lot was at Charlton with their huge side East Terrace https://www.followfollow.com/forum/threads/picture-of-charltons-ground-they-valley-when-it-was-abandonded.105108/

Did anyone on here see those terraces in the 1960s/70s? I’ve seen Saints a few times at both grounds but after the Kop was covered and Valley had closed/re-opened.

I wanted Rohl and wouldn't have been against Corberhan. if either are our long term targets, I'd have rather we got them in now and gave them 6 months to build a side.

Either way - Martin has drained the life from me, so any change would have been a good change imo.

Expand

Rohl was probably  the option with most potential, though you don't know how he'd have fared if we'd have suffered a nosedive into relegation. How would that have affected him for next season ?

If this new manager is only given a 6 month contract it says to me neither side is particularly confident in the other and we will therefore probably be in for another summer of upheaval and looking for a new manager.

Keeping options open perhaps. Better than lumbering ourselves with someone starting next season with 'give him 10 games' in EPL.

Good luck to him. I hope it results in a few decent wins. Shouldn't be like this though - a manager coming in before Christmas yet knowing we're already down for fucks sake. Even in the difficult 90s we were always fighting to the last few games.

New manager bounce incoming. It‘s time that it happens to us for once.

I hope he blasts some Carcass tunes in the cabin instead of whatever tunes they listen to that results in walking football to have the players grow some hair on their balls for once.

I believe we‘re in for a hell of a ride.

One thing stands out for me - his style and tactical approach is about as far removed as Russell Martin's as you could get which suits me even if it seems a bit mad.

I was on the old East Terrace at Charlton in 1976, not to watch football but to see The Who, supported by the Sensational Alex Harvey Band. Absolutely massive high terrace (built on a hillside) all the way along the side of the pitch, absolutely packed out in the sun, and the perfect viewing platform to see the stage on the opposite side of the ground.

The general Metal scene these days in Southampton is shocking. Just The Hobbit left now I think.

Anything is better than the Martin sh*t show we've had so far so pleased we've got someone in quickly that is different. And also being into Metal, I like him already, has obvious taste 😁

A Forest supporting friend did ping me to say in Croatian, Ivan Juric translates as Sam Allardyce which did make me laugh.

Onwards and upwards hopefully.

There's The Shooting Star as well (but obviously that's just the sci fi other half of The Hobbit's fantasy) and the occasional Apocalypse night at the Heartbreakers or Sobar or wherever it is now. Not a metal fan myself but my friends are really into it.

Sounds to me like he'll be coming our way in six months if Juric doesn't pan out.

Sod the bravery crap, as long as Juric gets our guys to play with passion, I'll be happy. Against Liverpool, that second half really looked like it was a team that had finally been set free and if Juric can channel that enthusiasm correctly, the rest of the season will be a lot more fun than the first half.

I was probably standing next to you. Great gig although I seem to remember a huge downpour in the evening just before The Who came on? Or maybe I am thinking about the game against Charlton when they spanked us 6-2 re the heavy downpour?

Interesting Rohl thinks people know his history (at Southampton). Have read comments in various places that would suggest even Southampton 'supporters' know the square root of feck all about his history.

Not sure how to feel about this bloke really, we’re pretty screwed this season anyway but if he can at least instil a bit of belief in the players to go down with a fight then it’ll set us up with the right mindset for the championship.

Hopefully the fact we can fuck him off in 6 months doesn’t work against us in the minds of the players who don’t see him as their permanent leader. I’m hopeful he at least drills the shit out of them in training and there’s no hugging or back slapping with the players going on.

Quite glad Rohl didn’t work out as I’m not sure where the love in came from for him. If he hadn’t been here previously, and there wasn’t some weird belief that he was the “brains” behind Ralph then he’d just be another Championship manager with a purple patch to his name that we should be aiming higher than.

The Croatian Klopp, I like him already; by the end of the season we shall be the new Wimbledon-Leeds-Alehouse Brawlers all rolled into one:

Ivan:

‘I’m going to be good this time and just listen to the music… but after half an hour I was in the mosh pit’.

👊 ☠️ 👍
