Absolutely, it’s such a volatile market, any sort of bet will make the odds fluctuate. Not worth taking much from them.

A very basic wishlist for the new manager:

  • Anyone who actually makes them train more than 3/4 times a week, and then makes them do double sessions (not get a day off) after they embarrass the club with an awful performance, i.e. get them fit.
  • Selecting new captain and vice-captain. Harwood-Bellis would be my pick.
  • Selecting the best players and playing them in their positions
  • Playing to players strengths, not forcing all players to do a short pass at any cost
  • Clean slate with all the players (ABK, Taylor, Cornet, Ugochukwu, Onuachu, Amo-Ameyaw)
  • Try to actually play the ball forwards and try to win games

Listened the BBC Solent interview with the guy from Radio Sheffield on Rohl. Really positive on the guy but interesting for Solent to set up such a call at this stage.

Got Danny Rohl with us, he's got pledges in hand.

And they say what they say, 'bout playing the Danny Rohl way.

Oh yeah.

It's all just a ten year plan.

Our fanbase utterly incapable of singing anything other than "Daaaanny Roo-hl he's one of our own" or some such.

A variation of Roll with it would be amazing but until Man City or Liverpool do it for someone else we won't touch it.

I agree. Seems like an odd thing to do if they weren't fairly sure which way we were leaning.

Is it my imagination
Or have I finally found something worth living for?
I was looking for some action
But all I found was Fernandes and Danny Rohl.

Danny Rohl would be my choice but I distinctly remember reading that it would cost £10m to break him and his staff from their contracts. I can't see it happening.

I thought Darren Moore left because he wanted an `average' championship salary and the chairman didn't want to offer that? With that in mind, I can't see Rohl being paid a hue wage, maybe £500,000 a year? If that was the case, he'd have to a have ten year contract for the compensation to be in the £10m realm (assuming his staff made up the other £5m).

Haven't listened to it but it sounds like two local stations combining together to create some content for their listeners, which wouldn't be odd at all.

For me it has to be Rohl. I've always liked the high pressing style that Poch brought to us, you don't need "super stars" for it to work unlike the possession based system that Martin tried to make work, you just need super fit players that can just keep running and the knowledge to press in groups and rotate positions when needed. Unlike Ralph, he likes to use a number of formations, 4231 and 343 being his go to ones but he likes to switch it up depending on his opposition (plan b,c etc) which i think is great. He just has that Poch effect aura about him and im pretty sure if we go down, he would know the players he would like to keep to make it work in the championship. He's made Charles a bloody good player for them, something Martin couldn't do so who knows, he may even make some of our players into something good as well. We would need a new cdm as he likes to use 2, so that's at least one player that we would need to get in the window unless we have a recall option on Charles or we have a hidden gem in the academy?

I’m actually surprised Mark Robins hasn’t been linked more heavily.

What would be wrong with Jesse Marsch? I know some made it seem like it would be the 4th season of Ted Lasso. However, he is attack-minded and instantly improved the fortunes of the Canadian National Team.

Danny Rohl would be great too. I just want our football to have some pace and be watchable again.

To Joan Jett - I love rock and roll…

We’ve got Danny Rohl,

you can hoof the ball out the box now Janny,

We’ve got Danny Rohl,

used to work with Ralph and he hates Pompey

Nothing, he’d be great for us. If you haven’t listened to it already have a listen to his interview with Simon Jordan in the up front podcast

Now that, my friend, is the perfect tune for a terrace chant. Amusing as the lyrics are, not sure they’re right.

But with a bit of tweaking that would be our winner. Now all we have to do is appoint him …

what interesting timing for that to come out.

Likely it means the agent is actually working. and There's something to the Saints story

Not sure on the logic of that. Hamburg also have no manager so seeing as its come from Kicker more likely its just true and they have an interest in him independent of anything related to Saints.

Based on all the stories from relatively decent sources I wouldnt expect Rohl to end up here.

There is likely legitimate interest from Hamburg. But I can't see them being able to afford the £10m compensation quoted

You can stop thinking up Danny Rohl songs as a very trusted ITK person up these parts has confirmed nothing to see and DR is not interested in the Southampton job, if in fact there has been an approach however minor.

Think its only a matter of time though as his stock / ambitions are rising and Wednesday in its current ownership model will not be able to match.

As his young Family are still in Germany any link for a decent job over there has more viability.

There is zero chance it costs £10m for a club to get Rohl from Sheff Weds.

He won't be coming here but that is obviously not accurate.

If it’s not him that probably rules Corberan out for the same reasons unless his contract is a lot shorter than Rohl’s.

Rohl for all his merits doesn’t really bring a style of play that matches what the club is set up to do currently and also doesn’t bring defensively solid football which might be considered what we need. Corberan at least ticks that box but still feels like too much of a change internally.

Surprised Ivan Juric hasn’t been mentioned much. What’s his style like?

It certainly seems like it.

I'm going to predict that Rusk will be incharge for Fulham, but there will be a Danish man in the crowd with dark glasses and fake beard.

Then he'll be announced on Sunday evening/Monday morning.
