The argument that someone isn’t credible simply because "nobody had heard of them until yesterday" misses the point. The fact that people are learning about someone new doesn’t diminish their potential. Instead, it reflects how informed decisions are made - by discovering, researching, and evaluating based on evidence, not pre-existing fame.

Your example of a group of friends knowing all about a hotel the moment you suggest it actually reinforces this. If they’ve done their research—whether it’s through TripAdvisor, reviews, or testimonials - what’s wrong with that? That’s precisely how people move beyond surface-level opinions and make informed choices. It doesn’t mean they’re blindly following the crowd; it means they’re engaging with the available data to form a conclusion.

Similarly, in the context of a football manager, the fact that a name was unfamiliar yesterday doesn’t invalidate their credentials today. People discover new candidates, learn about their achievements, and evaluate whether they fit the club’s needs. That’s how decisions are made, whether it’s picking a hotel or a manager. Dismissing someone outright because they weren’t on your radar until recently ignores this process of discovery and growth.

What’s truly irrelevant is clinging to the idea that prior fame or recognition is the only marker of suitability. If anything, it’s the thorough research and reasoned assessment that ensures the best decisions are made - whether it’s booking a hotel or hiring a manager. Learning isn’t "jumping on a bandwagon." It’s progress.

Danny Rohl would be a good appointment in my opinion. The Wednesday fans hold him in very high regard and his record with that team is very good. I also seem to remember that when he left Saints matters deteriorated under Ralph? Also we are fishing in a pond where most managers know we are going to get relegated. This appointment is looking to next season and beyond as the board in their wisdom left it 6 weeks too late.

Adam Armstrong was on a flight up to Newcastle this morning so they’re certainly not at Staplewood. A well earnt day off.

Not sure sure getting Wednesday to 9th in the Championship is much on an achievement, I would probably go for Cooper over Rohl.

SR taking so long to get rid of Martin really has put the club in a difficult position, no-one is going to want a job where relegation is pretty much guaranteed. I would be tempted to get a short term replacement in for the rest of the season and have the new guy lined-up to take over in the summer.

Yep, been advocating this for a while now and seems like the most pragmatic and logical approach to me. I'd still give the reins to Lallana on a "nothing to lose" basis.

I can only assume he's been told he won't be involved on Wednesday so given clearance to take a few days off - maybe I'm being too charitable but can't think of another explanation.

As a Wednesday fan we have feared Southampton looking for a new Manager as with Danny's previous links to your club thought there was a chance you would come calling what with his success over the last 12 Months.

Danny has done wonders at Wednesday and is hero worshipped but realistically the Club are built on quicksand under the ownership of Dejphon Chansiri and can certainly see even a relegation bound Saints as being a better more stable option for Danny to progress.    

What may put you off though is the compensation demands.  Rumour has it up to £10m.  If you are paying off RM at the same time could see you look at a free agent. 

Undoubtedly Danny is on the up and I reckon he will manage a Champions League Club at some point but just hoping he serves out his training at Wednesday for a while longer. 

Also clutching at straws but don't believe he would be in the running without the previous link.

Even if he's been told he isn't playing, he should still be in attendance at the game. He is acting Captain after all, albeit as effectively as one of those kettles made of chocolate.

Achievement is relative. Adkins took Scunthorpe to 15th in the Championship but he did a cracking job for us. I’m not saying Rohl is the right man and I’ve not seen enough of Wednesday to really have much of an opinion, but he has definitely moved them up in the world from when he took over.

He might be there and back in a day to be fair, as there’s a flight back this evening. Hopefully he doesn’t miss it like he has missed most things this season.

Lallana could be an option but I have never really had him down as the managerial type.

I would probably go for a big name who's on the managerial scrapheap, someone who can put a rocket up the arse of the players and get the fans excited. We might as well have a gamble at this stage because we have nothing to lose now this season.

You could be correct about us not wanting to pay compensation, whatever it is, especially at the rumoured £10m, which seems a high figure for a Championship manager. 

We got into a bit of a stand off with Swansea over RM. Bizarrely it may not even be resolved, and last I read Swansea were intent on suing Martin personally.

Think I saw him stood around with his hands on hips after yet another Spurs goal went in yesterday. Not a good look for a captain. Even a vice one.

Fits the key criteria: cheap, as out of work.

Already suggestions we can't afford compemsation for Rohl so would be suprised if we don't end up with someone who is freely available.

Adkins got them promoted from league one twice which is the league we were in, what are you talking about?

We had one philosophy under Martin, it’s not like we needed to get a game plan installed and worked on.

“Just keep doing the same lads you know what to do. I’ll draw names out of the hat on Tuesday so you know who is playing”

No major leagues experience. No thanks Rasmus https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kasper_Hjulmand

Would be very underwhelming compared to Rohl, Cooper, Moyes etc. Let him get experience at Plymouth, Preston or Stoke first. If he gets them into the play offs then maybe in the future.

I think the way Lallana organises and advises team mates when playing shows a keen understanding of the game plus he's played under some very good managers so he's not someone I'd say is not the managerial type or lacks knowledge. I'm not convinced he'd have wanted the caretaker role even if offered it because it's something of a poison chalice.

I have it on good authority the club do not think the rat faced little cunt is in anyway capable of being our manager, in fact the lack of options for interim managers was one of the reasons they held off on sacking Martin for so long (well that and money).

Personally i think - based on the press rather than people i know - that it'll be Rohl unless the compensation is too much.

Doesn't seem great physical preparation for a game, so i kind of hope he's nowhere near the lineup.
