I’ll be absolutely shocked if he doesn’t get the boot if we beat them. Despite people on here convincing themselves they’re only below us because of an impossibly difficult run of games (they shipped 5 against Brentford and 6 against Chelsea…), they haven’t won a game since beating Luton in April.

Not sure that's how footballers think tbh - most tend to be extremely driven from the ones that I have met and spoken to - nowadays you don't become a pro by not working hard and wanting to progress.

Reminds me of Adkins time in the EPL with us when we were facing another team at the bottom of the table (forgot opponent) whose manager was also under pressure. One of the tabloids  labelled the match the 'El Sackicco' contest.

This was put to Adklins in an interview and he responded with a hearty laugh. Imagine Alfie House or Blackmore putting this to RM and he'd probably go into one of his more prickly modes.

Some posters on here were saying they'd prefer to have Sparky as Manager now than Martin, even after failing last time out at Bradford City.

Blinded by the idea that donkey's years ago, he used to manage Man City and he got Stoke into the top 10 repeatedly while having to rely on dross like Begovic, Moses, Crouch, Shaqiri, Arnautovic. I'd think Pearson, Adkins and Puel are well ahead of him in the very hypothetical queue to manage us again.

He's 48 now and I've seen little evidence of him being "utterly shite" as a coach or manager with the Netherlands, PSV or Man United.

In fact, his record as a manager with PSV and Man United looks anything but shite:

Resurrecting this thread pre-full time today.

Chuck money at Graham Potter, someone semi-competent.

Reality is it’ll probably some average Football League manager.

IMO we should appoint Graham Potter. He plays dull, drab football. Insists on passing out from the back. Known to have his favourites. Finished midtable at Swansea. Surely someone like that would be welcomed with open arms by our fans?

I think he's still too important as a player for us to take that on. Player/Manager's rarely play themselves, and we definitely need him on the pitch for the remainder of the season! He also said in the summer he wants to keep playing as long as possible, so I cant see it happening yet personally. He'd maybe cover a few weeks until we get another in, but I dont think he'd keep it (or want to yet), regardless of results.

I wouldn't trust SR to pick a decent bunch of bananas, let alone someone who can turn this sinking ship around.

Go for Moyes, contract till the end of the season with a fat staying-up bonus.

Try and be too clever again and we'll be breaking Derby's record, simple as that.

He's not interested (or wasn't 4 weeks ago anyway) - he's not stupid and this is role is not a good one. Worst players in the league, sat bottom with a difficult run of fixtures to start and no money to spend in January.

No thanks.

Sport Republic could be backed into a corner if they WANT Saints to stay up.

Any manager is going to be insisting on money to spend to build a team that is even slightly capable of putting a couple of results together.

If SR are desperate for survival they will have to throw money at it.

Equally they could employ a yes man and then telL him “you work with what you’ve got”.

I think if anything, the ownership of SR has proven that money is only a small part of achieving footballing success. There has to be a plan and some understanding of what you're doing as a club, not just money.

We've spent money, too much money on rubbish - including managers and their payoffs.

''They have to throw money at it'' is no different to what they've been doing up to now. The first thing they should be doing is filling that boardroom up with people who understand football and how to run a football club, then work out what money we have to spend on it.

It's not an overnight fix and it's not all about throwing money at it, it's going to take years to get over this season.

A decent manager could get better performances out of the squad we have right now. We aren't going to be flying up the table, but we could at least be putting up a fight. As it stands we have 4 fucking points after 11 games.

A couple of posters have made the point that Moyes is available.

Now, ever the optimist, that all Saints fans have had to be over many years, if Martin goes this weekend, we still have a chance of surviving in this league.

It's a small one but 4 / 5 other teams have still not gotten away from us. There is still hope. Not much and I know I'm grabbing at straws

Now, Ive never been a great fan of Moyes bit if Martin goes, we have to be uttely pragmatic on choosing wh his succesor will be.

We definitely do not want another " up and coming "young Manager from a lower league who has " ideas " on how we play and we use us as a stepping stone again.

Moyes has experience in the Prem over many years. He is hard nosed and has a bit of nouse in dragging every last advantage out of a poor side and gaining precious precious points. I think he did pretty well at West Ham for a while.

So, give the guy a 1 year contract and a large bonus to keep us up, by a point, by goal difference !....anything ! Surely it would be worth it to Sports Replubic to keep us in this league this season and regroup for next.

In anothe post today I did say that I fear for our club if we are relegated by Christmas. It is on the cards . We could just fall away. It's happened to far bigger clubs than ours in the past. Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday.

So, in my opinion , enough is enough. The Board must meet tomorrow and make a decision to get rid and appoint somwone with experience who might just save us.i

In most seasons we'd be a good as down by now. There are some pretty poor teams in the league this season. Just so happens we are the worst but as you say, as unlikely as it is, there is still a chance (if we sack Martin)

IIRC we could have salvaged the last Prem season when we appointed Jones and again when we appointed Selles. However on both occasions calamitous appointments cost us. It’s exactly the same now…….make the correct appointment and we may just have a fighting chance. If we’d have appointed Dyche instead of Jones we certainly wouldn’t have been at Wembley last season and would have probably had a couple of mid table finishes in the last couple of seasons.

Last post this evening. I have ranted enough.

From their posts it appears to me that there are some supporters of our Club who sorta think that even if we are relegated and that would be heartbreaking, it wouldnt be catastrophic.

Some have said that back in the Championship next year, we would still be one of the better clubs and have an excellent chance of promotion again.

I profoundly have to disagree. If we do go down with a record low points total.....maybe by Christmas....our club would struggle to recover from that. Some have saidt with our pool of players we could bounce back up again. I think that casually expects that the players we have will stay with us.

I think that will not happen. I accept that not many would be looked at by existing Prem clubs. But the decent ones we have will, in my opinion be on their way. Ramsdale, Hardwood-Bellis, KWP, Dibling probably.

And I think that people ignore downward spirals. Can you imagine the reputation of our club if we are relegated with say 15 points ! I fear we are a bit of a laughing stock now with the way we play and the results it produces.

Add in Martins uttery ludicrous post match conferences and his utterings on each match we play. Look at what he said again today . " It is what it is " !!!!!! What the hell does that mean ! Every team is waiting for us and rubbing their hands with glee. They know what we see every Saturday. We start quite brightly, we play some quote impressive patterns in our half, we utter no threat at all, forwards make runs that are almost always ignored, we re-cycle again and again, sideways and backwards and get absolutly no bloody where and then we make a ricket and the opposition pounces.

Rant over. I'm done. Sleep well all Saints fans. Will we feel better tomorrow ? I very much doubt it !

Dyche only has a goatee and lacks luxuriant Lego-type hair. He’s a bit too old school for vaping and skinny jeans as well. Wouldn’t be on Rasmus’s black box therefore. Does have bags of actual top level football management expertise but that’s over-rated apparently.

Pretty much the perfect scenario.

However I'm sure Moyes and Potter would have a lot to say about it.

Sad reality at this point is anybody would be insane to join us with the run we have coming up and current standing.

Roughly £12m to pay off Russell and his team.

According to Adam Blackmore, that takes us close to our FFP limit. So no new players in January without selling first and no buying a new manager out of his contract.

That leaves us with managers who are out of work and won't mind having a relegation on their CV.
