Not read the 13 pages so can someone kindly summarise who is the candidate to take up the hot seat?

Answers not allowed to include: anyone / Doris the cleaner / Tuchel.

Thanks

Oh fuck! Does that mean another obscure appointment with no track record, pulled out of the ether or cyber world by the Rasmus Ankersen random name generator ?

How else Nathan Jones and Russell Martin came to the forefront of their thinking I’ll never know.

Surely you've heard of Potter - Harry at least if not Graham!

I've got it - they must be using codenames!

This fits in with what I was told (and relayed) last week, that we won't sack RM until we have someone in place to take over.

Would have expected him to have been part of Tuchel’s back room team. Think he’s been with him for his recent jobs.

Thanks, wasn't aware of that.

I think he worked with Ralph as well at some point.

I’d rather Lallana and Sammy Saint did it, they couldn’t be any more useless than Martin!

It's spelt Low and he was with Tuchel at Chelsea and has also worked with our Ralph who rates him highly. Has never been a manager always an assistant. Strange one if it has any truth.

Sounds exactly what we don't need in this current situation. Would be another gamble. I'm sure he's a very good coach but we need someone with a little bit of experience at least.

Agreed - if we're going to get rid we need to bring in someone with experience. Issue is those that are available aren't interested, so any good ideas, put them on a postcard and send to:

King Rasmus

Southampton FC

St Mary's Stadium

Britannia Road

We need a decent defensive coach - we thought he had brought one in with CC last year but don't think he's any good (as we've been just as bad as previously).

Even Pep Guardiola would struggle to get a tune out of such a mediocre squad. Unfortunately we have signed quantity rather than quality.

But I bet he could set his team up to defend a corner.

True we signed an overload but there is enough quality for a good coach to develop. Under this fellow they are all under performing which makes talented players look ordinary. Its possible for a good manager to make ordinary players look talented. We haven't seen that since Poch

The problem has always been that " the good managers " are never available when you need them.  They are most likely DAJF a more successful side .

There is usually a good reason for football  managers to be long-term " unemployed " , and unless they are still living well on the several millions

they received in compensation from their last sacking.. they really aren't up to the job of managing a struggling side.

How can a defensive coach be effective if he has to coach within the constraints of Martin’s footballing ideology?

Poch realised that the team needed to be ultra fit to compete. The current manager and coaches appear not to think the same as players don't seem as fit as other teams. No excuse for that.

Well, for one, he wouldn't allow the players to defend a corner the way we have against both Ipswich and Leicester.

I’d prefer to ditch him, but if you were bringing in someone it would have to be above him, someone who would have authority over him.

My hopes aren't up.

Our recruitment was poor and we've pissed away too many early, easier games. Absolutely zero early season momentum.

In all probability we're going back down.

As I said before, we'll see next spring with ten games to go whether we have a replacement who is a) able to keep us up (unlikely) b) nicely placed to take us into a Championship season or c) not worth persevering with.

All depends on whether our Russ replacement is a Nathan Jones or a Gordon Strachan.

How have you managed to deduce that? It doesn’t make any sense, he’s either sh*t or he isn’t. He’s either dreadful and needs to be sacked now, or he’s biding his time, waiting for a better gig with a bigger club, not both.

Appreciate the need for confidentiality re name. Just to keep it that way and so it can't be deciphered by outsiders, can you let us know if the new guy's name is an anagram of Ramsus Anserken?

Pep Guardiola doesn't bring on Fraser and Smallbone at 2-0 up and throw the game away.. So I'm not sure I agree with you.

A competent manager, who isn't wedded or loyal to a group of players who served us well last year buty aren't good enough this year, would get more out of this squad. Stephens, Smallbone, Manning (all be it hes done alright last 2 as a wing back), Fraser and arguably aribo should be nowhere near the matchday squad.

Am guessing that the person Pilchards has alluded to is employed, as we'd want a young hungry guy to "step up" from their current club.

Therefore in my strawman attempt at a prediction and by utilising my vast and deep understanding of all things soccerball related I think we are looking at Jacob Neestrup.

Seems like he is highly adaptable and dynamic young coach whose "style" would fit with the league and also he can tell rasmus to fuck off in danish and he's already lost to City this year 3-1.

https://the-footballanalyst.com/jacob-neestrup-fc-copenhagen-tactical-analysis/

Summary:

In conclusion, Jacob Neestrup’s tactical approach at FC Copenhagen has proven to be both innovative and effective. His strategic emphasis on disciplined defensive structures, combined with fluid and precise attacking movements, showcases his understanding of the game and his adaptability as a manager. By maintaining a balance between defensive solidity and dynamic forward play, Neestrup has transformed FC Copenhagen into a resilient and versatile team capable of competing at the highest levels.

As Neestrup continues to refine his tactics, FC Copenhagen looks set to grow even stronger, with a clear identity and a cohesive style of play. His tactical vision has not only enhanced the team’s performance but also made them a formidable force in domestic and European competitions.

Please note - if this hail mary is correct, expect to see me quote this post a lot.

Except you said "defensive solidity" like that's something that Rasmus has even heard about. If he had a tendency to play attacking midfielders in a variety of defensive positions and a Jack Stephens poster on his bedroom wall then you'd be in business.

I agree that we signed quantity over quality, but I think a decent manager could have bagged more points than Russell has this season.

Imo this is a decent PL squad, not great and certainly no world beaters, but with the correct tactics and manager I am sure we would have at least 2 wins and a few draws by now.

Ramsdale

KWP - THB - Bednarek - Taylor

Downes - Aribo

Dibling - Lallana - Fernandes

Archer

And yet, with no DoF, Martin would've had a lot of say in the way we spent this summer. This squad isn't something that happened to him but rather something he's played an active part in.

Not sure how you can say Aribo should be nowhere near the team ? He was fantastic on Saturday and easily one of our best players.. I was hugely impressed by him he just makes time for himself on the ball. He deserves to start and looks more premiership quality then downes tbh

I think I know the person they’ve approached.

I’m not convinced it’s a fit, but the thinking is he can’t do any worse than Lego.

I’m hearing it won’t happen until next Monday, firstly because he doesn’t want his first game being City away, and secondly, on Sunday he would like to take charge of The Dog & Duck for one last time.

I don't know whether this is a secret code for who it might be or just simply that he's a Sunday league pub manager. I hope the former.
