CSA96 Posted 30 August, 2024 Posted 30 August, 2024 59 appearances and couldn't even get a goodbye, thanks, all the best: https://www.newcastleunited.com/en/news/ryan-fraser-joins-southampton-on-permanent-deal Howe is a petty twat, those spots haven't changed 8
Colinjb Posted 30 August, 2024 Posted 30 August, 2024 Confirming we are now at least as strong as we were on promotion. OK, Ramsdale has smashed that already, but still.

Holmes_and_Watson Posted 30 August, 2024 Posted 30 August, 2024 Good to see him back. He made a real impact when he joined last season. Those loan deals worked out pretty well last season - with THB (who I like to think we would have looked to sign, even if there wasn't the obligation), Downes and Fraser.

Is this going back to how he left Bournemouth?

It is what it is. Welcome back Wee Man. 5
HarvSFC Posted 30 August, 2024 Posted 30 August, 2024 A lot of fans rate Fraser higher than I do, but I do see his value in the squad. I believe he was a bit of a pace merchant earlier in his career and that is on the decline, unfortunately. He also lacks some technical skills which wide players need to beat players. However, he is a very good finisher when given the opportunity and can provide a decent cross. He's also obviously very popular among the squad and the club in general. Also, when I saw him lining up against Gnonto in the play-off final I did fear the worst, but he proved me wrong and he did a very good, solid job. His professionalism also can't be faulted here. At the start of the summer, I wanted us to prioritise our (reportedly small) resources in other areas. Now, on deadline day we have, Fraser's cost us nothing, a two year deal is probably about right and it means we're no longer turning to Edozie who needs a loan out for the season. Welcome back. 3
bugenhagen Posted 30 August, 2024 Posted 30 August, 2024 Happy to see him back. I value a player who puts the team first, and himself second. He brings a different directness on the pich, and will be a very good squad player. He will probably start most matches on the bench, but if he hits a purple patch or two for us during the season when someone else is struggeling for form or injured, it will be worth it. Welcome back, Wee Man! 3
The Kraken Posted 30 August, 2024 Posted 30 August, 2024 We really need to get rid of players in that position. BBD, Edozie, Wee Man, Sulemana all on the books as it stands, Cornet a possibility. Im a bit meh about this one. Did a decent job last year but was far from a nailed down starter. Not expecting a big impact. 1
OnceaSaintalwaysaSaint Posted 30 August, 2024 Posted 30 August, 2024 MotM at Wembley. Really pleased he's back. More than a squad player. Fraser will make a difference.
Barsiem Posted 30 August, 2024 Posted 30 August, 2024 Loving the enthusiasm for being here from Fraser! Welcome back! 6
saintnick Posted 30 August, 2024 Posted 30 August, 2024 Welcome back wee man, good squad addition and will make an impact
davefizzy14 Posted 30 August, 2024 Posted 30 August, 2024 (edited) Welcome back Ryan Fraser 😊 it's quite clear from his comments on the App that there was only one thing he wanted to happen this summer and that was come back permanently. Pleased with this 😊 Edited 30 August, 2024 by davefizzy14 3
Chez Posted 30 August, 2024 Posted 30 August, 2024 A little strange signing a layer that wasn't first choice in the championship, but nice to have someone that actually wants to be here. Scored some vital goals in the championship off the bench. Hope he can make a similar difference this time around. 1
sandwichsaint Posted 30 August, 2024 Posted 30 August, 2024 Is he the CMFG de nos jours? A wonder goal at Ipswich and he very well might be.
Hopper Posted 30 August, 2024 Posted 30 August, 2024 Great bants in the interview. Could you imagine that happening under Mad Nate? 😂 Chuffed to have the Wee man back and I think the squad are too.
Lighthouse Posted 30 August, 2024 Posted 30 August, 2024 Awe-inspiring? No. Would I rather have him in the squad than Edozie, given a straight fifty fifty choice? Yes. 2
hypochondriac Posted 30 August, 2024 Posted 30 August, 2024 Everyone should watch his interview. Shows immediately why he is an asset to the squad. 13
Colinjb Posted 30 August, 2024 Posted 30 August, 2024 A player with ability who truly wants to be here who the squad loves. Fair play Russell Martin. Compare this to just over 12 months ago. 3

Roboze Posted 30 August, 2024 Posted 30 August, 2024 Sounds chuffed as feck to be a Saint, might not be our besr player, but his enthusiasm will be a big plus to the team, welcome home wee man! 1
SNSUN Posted 30 August, 2024 Posted 30 August, 2024 I'm pleased he's back - free transfer too with bags of experience. He did a decent job last year too - whether or not he can still do it in the Prem remains to be seen but he's still only 30 - madness really! Seems he really wants to be here, the manager trusts him and the players seem to like him. Thanks to Newcastle too for taking the high road and letting him go. 1

Ambsaint Posted 30 August, 2024 Posted 30 August, 2024 Delighted - very underrated player, works very hard, team player. Clearly loves us, especially after giving him a chance to see Wembley in full Red and White bloom (see the recordings if you doubt this).

Saint Fan CaM Posted 31 August, 2024 Posted 31 August, 2024 The reaction from the gaffer and fellow players says it all - he’s a valued member of the squad in more ways than one. Rambo and Wee Man adding to the large characters in the squad will be great for unity and feel good factor which will permeate through to supporters. Welcome back Ryan! 1
