Agree. But needs must I suppose. We have enough left backs, especially if KWP stays, and we need cash to pay for other priorities.

Yes I agree - he looked pretty much ready to go and better than Manning to my eyes, but then we don’t get to see what Russ sees in the context of Russball. Not great that he’s going to a Prem rival, but such is life.

It'll be interesting to see Meghoma's development now, he moved because he wanted to play (we'd offered him a new deal, he only has a year left - so we had to take the money). I thought we'd only get a couple of mill tops, although I expect that £10m is based on shed loads of clauses - we'll probably only see 4 or 5m guaranteed.

Hopefully achievable clauses.

Meghoma off.

Mixed feelings on this.

He's looked really good, and it's always great seeing talented players come through. But SR are about player trading, and that is a very decent fee.

Could this mean we keep KWP?

Is Manning still getting a move?

Probably a good deal for all parties where Meghoma is concerned.

No clear pathway for him here. A lot of money for us for a player with under a year left on their contract. Minimal risk for Brentford (relatively, in terms of modern fees).

How we got to the point where £10m is 'minimal risk' is another issue entirely...

When L1 clubs are spending £10m on players, you know football is changed!

Yep. He's got so much more promise than Larios. Wrong kid being moved on imo.

But assuming we stay up. We'd need to have persuaded him to sign a 4 or 5 year contract, because he would need at least two years away on loan before he'd be good enough for the PL surely. Bearing in mind our lack of success with junior contracts recently that seemed unlikely- was always likely to be tempted away by a big money Jimmy Jay Morgan style deal by a PL big fish.

I'm not saying whether he's PL ready now or that he will be. I'm simply saying that he's better than Larios now imo, and shows more promise. Larios ain't the answer now or ever imo.

Agree, feels like this is more the player pushing for the move than us wanting to move him on. As such £10M is a good fee for a player in the last 12 months of his deal.

this is a great deal for the club. He might go on to be brilliant and a future england left back, but he also might end up like Jake Yokins or Thierry Small.

1 year left on his deal and not going to get any minutes this season, if he breaks through, we'd only lose him in a year or 2 for £20m anyway.

Brilliant work from Parsons.

Think he would be getting more of a look in if he wasnt pushing for a move. Probably thought he did well last season (which he did) and should've been dislodging Manning (which I'd agree with), but has since had a couple of players jump in front of him in KWP moving over and Taylor signing, and Larios (who himself is a very promising player) returning. Shame to see him go, but understandable.

Looked really good whenever we saw him play, and I always thought it was odd he didn't get more minutes last year.

Still, a really solid fee and hopefully there's a sell-on involved too.

Whoever sanctioned the £1m for him and Amo-Ameyaw needs to do plenty more!

It's a lot more than I thought we'd get.

I liked what I saw of him. But that was a while back now, and there are so many senior players ahead of him.

I don't know how his development has gone since then. But with a year left, the player looking to get minutes, and us having so many in front of him, it's good for all concerned.

Looking forward to seeing how he gets on.

Yeah I will say as much as I'm disappointed he's going that £10million is a huge amount. Needs to be a sell on clause too though.

That would be ideal. Interesting that it's data focused Brentford, who presumably see the same things we did in him. So, he could go on to be very good there.

It would be unusual for there not to be, pretty standard in the industry. Especially for younger players.

I know, but the high fee made me wonder if we were sacrificing a sell on clause for a higher fee.

That was Joe Shields. At that point we were spending serious money on academy players, not just on fees, but on wages too. It sounds like it didn't continue though after his departure and our relegation etc. hence some young talent departing.

Not every penny spent on youth back then has realised a similar profit. Some you win, some you don't I suppose.

I wonder how much we have spent on his wages the last two years. Do Spurs get a percentage? Some off that eat into the profit, but still looks a decent chunk of change.

No market for Larios. real shame to lose Jaydon, but we obviously didn't feel he was good enough yet (not last season and not this) and time/contract has run out.

He really had a chance to be our starting LB last season and he would have flourished in the Championship. However RM wanted his own man in Manning and we've since brought in Taylor (plus KWP will play LB also). Disappointing as I think he has a great career ahead of him, possibly at PL level

Could this day get any better? First Ramsdale, and now bringing in £10m for a player who's never going to get a game here (and likely won't at Brentford either in all honesty). SR really are on fire.

I get your point, but selling a genuine talent (which is what Brentford think he is) for just £10m isn't something I want to celebrate.  Better than him departing for nothing thouugh.

I really hope RM assessed him correctly last season (and this) - otherwise that decision, and him not being played, last season especially, has led directly to him wanting out and leaving us.

Very much this. I suspect the club would have liked to have kept Jaydon but with Larios still on the books one of them had to go as the club need the cash. This is the consequence of keeping KWP.

I thought he'd go on loan so a permanent transfer is a bit of a surprise but his contract is running out and the money we're getting is good. Assuming KWP stays we're in good shape there anyway. He may be another Thierry Small or he may be another Bale but it'll be a few years until we find that out.

Shame but with PSR it's the sensible thing to do with a short contract.

Isn’t that what Lowe did when we sold Bale to Spurs? Except instead of a higher fee he sacrificed the sell on for Tommy Fourpast.
